I have been to this store at least a dozen times and I have never had a bad experience. The staff are so lovely and helpful. I tell them what I am looking for, and if it comes in, they call me and send photos and videos. Keren, Ivan and Nicole have been wonderful and those are only the names I remember. I am always greeted with a smile and an offer of help. The prices are great too, and who can resist the DWR styles. I am happy to give my money to a place that treats me well. read more

Never work with Nicole, she will lie to you and do anything to get the sale. I asked on the phone point blank if a medium size womb chair had a back that would go above the head. I have spine issues and a chair that I can lean my head on is so important for my comfort. I have a standard size womb chair that I'm obsessed with and I asked questions about the structure of the medium size on the phone. Nicole lied to me on the phone and told me that the back went all the way up so my head would be supported. I just received the chair and it's comically small. It goes up to my mid back and I'm only 5'1". I spent so much money on this chair I was hoping to have a lifetime. I'm so, so upset. read more

I feel this this place is extremely overhyped. Perhaps it was once upon a time a very popping spot but from my visit this week I sense that this isn't always the case anymore. Herman killer chairs are now $1000, the hype has driven up the prices and compared to other methods of purchase such as Fb marketplace it doesn't really seem worth it. read more

I like this store and have found some great items but I very much dislike the employee attitude. If my experience had been a one-off, I would not comment but it's happened on two recent visits (while I was checking out - no less!) and I find it puzzling. Couple of my friends are using the Herman Miller chairs and speaking highly of it; one of my friends visited here several times and actually bought two Aeron chairs from here for a great price; so I decided to check out the DWR Outlet in Brooklyn as well. My review is only based on my experience with the HM chair purchase. Chairs are usually located on the second floor. I knew HM chairs here don't come with warranty and all sales are final, and based on friends' experiences, sometimes there are more chairs, sometimes there are less, some may have better conditions, some may have different features. I must say that I was very lucky. The day I came here, I wasn't determined to buy a chair on my first visit, but there are a decent amount of chairs on the floor, it's good to try different models, and once depending on the model, it's good to have several chairs to choose from. Most importantly, the prices are really appealing, eg: Aeron for $699, Sayl for $459 and Embody for $750 (prices may be subject to change so please don't quote me). I may be wrong, but I overheard that the same model should have the same price, eg: Aeron type C vs. Aeron type B, Aeron with lumbar support vs. Aeron with posturefit, or Aeron in Black color vs. in Mineral color (aka white/light grey). Most of the chairs on the floor are in good condition, there maybe some visible signs of use or scratch, but don't affect the actual function of the chairs. I spent as much time as I needed to try the chairs, the staffs may be around to answer questions or to pick up the chair someone decided to purchase, but they don't stay around to rush people to buy or to leave. When it got closer to 6pm, there was a reminder that the store closes at 6pm, but all 3 staffs I saw were very nice (maybe the rude ones from other reviews are gone?). Few minutes before closing, I finally picked Aeron between Mirra 2 and Aeron at last minute (my receipt time is 5:55pm haha). At checkout, I was told that they are offering additional 20% off on certain days (don't remember exactly but possibly the November weekends and Thanksgiving week). At this point, I must say I am extremely lucky. In total, people I know and myself have gotten 5 chairs from here, 3 Aeron, 1 Sayl and 1 Embody. We are all happy with our chairs. Tips: - Set your expectations reasonable. - Do your due diligence, before you buy, check all the features that you care about. - If possible, compare the chairs in the same model and pick the one that fits you the most. - If you don't see the "perfect" chair or haven't decided yet, feel free to visit multiple times. read more

Tend to agree with most other reviews here. I gave a charitable 3 stars because I did make a successful purchase here, and sale/pickup was straightforward enough. I also think the selection is pretty good since the place is quite large; I'd estimate about 3-4x larger than a typical retail DWR location. The cons: - Reps can be really condescending and rude, depending on who you get. This is unacceptable in an environment where people are regularly dropping 5-figures in one visit. - The discounts are truly not that great. Prices for pieces that are seriously damaged can be downright insulting. Might as well wait for a good seasonal sale and just buy new. - Inventory is super opaque; you have to either hound them over the phone (where the helpfulness of the rep will be a dice roll) or just show up and hope you get lucky and find something you like (unrealistic when the location is Industry City and a majority of NYers don't have cars). They'd probably say "our inventory moves too fast" but there's no reason products can't be scanned into a basic e-comm database. Their solution for this is their awkward eBay page which has only a small slice of their inventory. read more

My husband and I have been going to this location for the last 3 years. Some things have changed over time just due to changes in ownership, but the staff remains mostly the same and they have always been very friendly with us. It can often times be very hit or miss, but that's the nature of an outlet store like this - things come and go very quickly and often what they get is what they can get. But if you're lucky and persistent, you will eventually get what you're looking for. If are able to buy multiple items at once too, they often times are able to give you an additional discount if you ask for it (and are a pleasant customer). We have gotten several different pieces from this singular location, including a credenza, several lamps, office chairs, and some accessories in the Hay and stationary section. We bought two counter chairs, and after months of returning several times we were able to finally find our third matching one as well (worth it). You have to expect defects and imperfections, which is why they end up in this store in the first place. Just make sure to double check everything before you do your final purchase (if it's electronics, they will test it for you if you ask too.) Good luck! read more

We love DWR products. At the warehouse, you can find some products in great shape for a reasonable discount. We visited the store and purchased $8000+ worth of stuff through one of their sales person, Doug. He was extremely polite and nice and the furniture arrived in a great condition. A couple weeks later, we decided to purchase an additional barstool through Doug without visiting the store. He sent us pictures of the two chairs they had in stock and I chose the one I liked. However, I did not receive the chair that I chose. When I reached out to him, instead of apologizing and rectifying the situation, he stated that he had sent one with less scratches. This chair has a huge visible scratch and I do not like the pattern either! When I asked if that was his final response, he said if we send back the chair, he would process a return. I asked to send the right chair and a return label but still haven't heard back from him. So be careful who you choose to work with and be wary - customer service ends after the sale. read more

Can't get anybody there to actually help you with sales. Arrogant, condescending sales reps - IF you get one of them to actually acknowledge you. Was ready to buy and couldn't find anybody in the store to help in over 15 minutes. My wife and I have been shopping, consistently, at the DWR outlet at industry City for years and it never disappoints. Yesterday was no exception as we bought a recliner and debated between 4 options that were all superb. The price point was exceptional and we were supported by Mike Kelley, store manager, who was helpful, total pro, and just the right customer vibe for me. I can't say enough good things abt the inventory there and the just right customer support. Best of all, the customer service representative was so friendly, going out of his way to make my shopping experience a happy one. Terrible experience with delivery service. I ordered a sofa and it was really difficult to reach the delivery service that the store gave me information to arrange delivery date. After failing to reach them on my own, I had to call the store to have them reach the delivery service before I could get a call back to make an appointment. Then, the day that the sofa was scheduled to be delivered, I didn't get any information on around what time during the delivery window I would have the sofa delivered and once again no one could reach the delivery service. I finally got a call back after sending texts, email and calls 30 minutes before the delivery window would end and basically the delivery took place at the very end of the delivery window. Then, the delivery guy demanded more money than I was told at the store as delivery price. I wouldn't have minded even a delay in delivery etc but i think it is ridiculous how difficult it was to reach the delivery person and then have the charge be higher than told in store. read more

Since I moved to Bklyn two months ago I've made 4 trips to DWR...each time is like a treasure hunt. I've managed to pick up two items so far: a mint Tolemeo mini table lamp and an almost new Eames Management Chair (the tag showed assembly date of 1/20/22) that was 40% off the normal retail price. This is an outlet/warehouse stocked with samples and returned items so don't expect flawless goods or white glove treatment. Update: I've returned several times to the Warehouse, and the assistance is sketchy. The place is often a mess, and the folks who work there are most often hanging on their phones at the desk. Customer service isn't wonderful. The place is often a mess. It's difficult to get assistance upstairs (you have to go down to ask someone to come upstairs), and many items aren't marked with prices and when asked, the answer is "I'll check" or that the item is on hold, but there isn't a 'hold' ticket on it. I was overcharged for a simple item and the assistant manager was aghast that I wanted a price adjustment because it was an inconvenience for him. It was a very minor amount of money, but I'm not loaded, and it's the principle. Isn't it? I don't know who's in charge, but the people who work at the store could use a break, maybe a corporate retreat and some r and r .. maybe some meditation in lovingkindness.. and the place should be run on the level of excellence of the design and products they represent. It's my guess that DWR isn't taking care of their employees. If they were, customer service would rock. And if it didn't, DWR would replace their personnel with better humans. read more

If I could give DWR zero stars, or negative stars, I would. I walked in having reserved a stool over the phone the day before. I arrived at the counter and couldn't immediately remember the name of the stool, or who I spoke to on the phone. The sales rep told me that "I needed to take responsibility for my part" and that my lack of immediate recognition was "my problem." Come to find out, they sold the stool to someone else. When I asked about other stools in a similar price range, I was condescendingly told that the sales reps had no idea what was in store, and that I needed to go look myself. The staff seems to have no record whatsoever of who puts things on hold, OR what's in their inventory! I left feeling both insulted and angry and will never shop at DWR again. read more

Kinda hated this place. Even with the opening weekend 20% off, prices were a VERY small percentage off of retail. A junky half broken kids armoire for 2500. A badly scratched dining table for $4600. A Herman Miller chair for just about the same price as the online version, except Herman Miller offers free shipping and they wanted $129 to deliver it. Sales staff that were literally whispering and glaring behind our backs...How about instead of telling me that I should pay for an Uber XL, you offer the same local delivery level prices as everyone else in the Brooklyn area? Not impressed. Just bought a great brand new couch elsewhere with a far better sleeper component for less than your incredibly uncomfortable scratchy returned item at the DWR Brooklyn Warehouse. The other reviews are true: if you shop here, expect to be treated rudely, no matter what you spend. I made the mistake of asking if a price was negotiable, as this is the case with many other outlets. The man on the phone basically laughed and gave me a condescending answer like I was some kind of peasant for asking. I figure, whatever, maybe it was just one guy having a bad day. Then I go in to make a purchase. The man who rung me up (a different rep from the one on the phone) was rude throughout the entire process for no apparent reason, even seeming to roll his eyes at me at points in the exchange. I always try to be nice to people, especially anyone in consumer-facing roles, and it honestly shocked me how nasty my interactions were with DWR staff compared to basically any other retail store/outlet I've shopped at. Absolutely wonderful customer service--which has not only changed my decades-long perspective on DWR, but also my approach to furniture shopping going forward. Let's face it, while the brand is called Design Within Reach, the prices for each items of furnishings are physically NOT WITHIN REACH for most people (unless you're willing to sacrifice the budget of the entire room for one DWR piece--which I had stupidly done for my first apartment straight out of college). I have shopped at DWR for two decades, although never at any of their outlet stores, and each time was disappointed with their customer service or lack thereof to the the point of--for a few times--swearing off forever that red and white square logo. While I've been happy with how all my DWR furniture look in my two homes, each and every single time, I never for once naively believe that each piece that I bought was worth their higher price point (especially sans service and/or with an extra helping of snobbish attitude) and only kept going back because I personally couldn't find an optimal substitute being a lifelong worshiper of architects and good designs. So after each disappointing transaction, and after enough immediate years of holding steadfast to my not-so-high principles of "they don't deserve my business," their beautiful, clean, and thoughtful designs by talented architects would draw me back in...like sirens calling out to a weak-willed, design-starved chump. And because I've come to expect the lack of customer service at their main stores, I avoided their outlets believing that the customer service there would naturally be even more lacking. To the meat of my review, my husband forced me to physically go inside this DWR outlet because we had time to kill while traveling through Brooklyn. I was perusing their collection of Eames chairs when Mike came up and asked me if I needed any help (if you've been to any DWR stores, you'll know that this would happen less than 20% of the time). I told him that there was a specific chair (leather color, armless, pneumatic mechanism) that I had wanted ten years ago and ever since, have regretted not biting the bullet then--which he commiserated seeing how these chairs have doubled in price since. He searched the floor himself and came back with a few options. While they were good options, I already knew that he wouldn't be able to find my perfect chair, especially at this discounted price, but proceeded anyway to tell him how each of those options deviated from my "perfect" chair--simply because I had more time to kill. He gave me his phone number and to give him 2 hours until the store closes at 6pm, since he hadn't had a bite to eat all day after having missed his lunch. Because we had more time to kill, my husband and I just wandered around in the massive warehouse and in less than an hour, after Mike had spotted us from his back room, rolled toward us--my "perfect" chair from ten years ago! This is the first time that I thought that the actual item I purchased at DWR is worth the price I had paid (and perhaps even more with the excellent service I received). To say that I was blown away by this existential moment which didn't fit into my concrete worldview of DWR experiences is an understatement. From now on, anytime the sirens call out to me again, I will first come to this DWR outlet location and ask for Mike. So Mike--thank you for reminding me that I should never have to sacrifice good service and experience for the furniture of my dreams. read more

This is my second review. The first was not posted. This DWR outlet store is huge and supported by an outstanding staff. The manager Kristie is very intelligent, helpful and knows her inventory. Randi and Jeremy are also outstanding in that they all give you their honest opinions on size, condition and will let you know when something comes in. The savings is considerable. The staffs advice is priceless. The selection is big but I would call first to find out when things are coming in. It is much more of a savings than the DWR sale at the retail stores. The damage can be as small as an opened box, a returned item, a ding to rarely but can be large. The staff is so great and will be honest. I feel lucky to have them! read more

The DWR Warehouse is a risk to the DWR brand. I associate DWR with high-end designer furniture - basically the best of the best. The Warehouse is an attempt to monetize damaged/overstocked goods but from a consumer POV it takes the luster off the DWR brand glow. Today my wife and I spent about 6 hours trying to buy an Eames Lounge Chair from here - but we were told we could not have one put on hold for us over the phone and that we had to come in. Store policy - no holds. Fine. When we arrived - there were two chairs of the type we wanted...ON HOLD for roommates of the employees?! We were told if they didn't buy them by 2pm one was ours. 2pm rolls around as we wait in the store and it's still a no. Then we were told that if by 4pm they weren't sold the chair would be ours. At 4pm we were told they were both sold so we left...then at 5pm we got a call saying "we just got another one you're in luck." We happily bought the chair which was $2,000 less than full price - a real steal IMHO - but when we got it home we found it had the same smallest of paint blemishes as the original two that "had been sold". No issue with the blemish but....this led us to believe we had in fact bought one of the two that had been set aside for the employees roommates/friends and we finally were able to purchase it because one of the two people bailed. Now we feel like real second class citizens whom DWR thinks isn't worth treating fairly and is running a company that lets its employees violate their own stated policies for the benefit of their friends and family. I was told "you have to be mean here to get what you want" by one of the employees. However I'm not generally mean to people to get what I want. Instead I'm honest. And in sum this is my honest take: DWR is running a huge risk running such a sloppy and potentially disingenuous outlet. After spending $10s of $1000s of dollars with them over the years furnishing my offices and home I'm likely never to buy from them again. I feel lied to and jerked around for no good reason. I feel abused. I am however very happy with the discounted chair! So 2 stars instead of one. I'll never be back to the outlet that's for sure. You can do so much better DWR. read more

My only concern: when they hold a piece (24 hours is their maximum) they leave it on the floor with a hold tag --- an unscrupulous shopper can take that tag off and poof! The hold is no longer! This DWR store was a bit of a let down; poor selection & still seemed pricey. It's a 2flr warehouse so not organized like non outlet showrooms. Ed runs the place. Observed that customers even employees rely on him; be specific as to what you want if you decide to schlep there. Parking lot is across the street from the front of the store & DWR validates. & smatter of street parking including by the Starbucks. This is part of the 'industry city' complex. A suburban mall that requires cars despite being in a City- why?! There's an even more than usually crowded Costco in the complex with super tight parking & folks snarfing the pizza they just bought in the lot while packing their cars full of junk & reams of paper products. We did enjoy the Japan Village; I'll review separately but suffice it to say this is the bathroom to use in this area. read more

The associate literally hung up on me after reading me the riot act simply because I asked to pay for something in full in advance. Finally made the trip out to Brooklyn to the DWR Outlet in Industry City on Saturday. Previously I had shopped at the DWR Outlet in Secaucus, NJ. Pretty much everything in my apartment is from there - my bed, dresser, credenza, coffee table, Saarinen Womb Chair, etc. DWR's Industry City outlet is much different than Secaucus. Secaucus had a full price design studio within the outlet, so you could furnish your whole apartment with everything DWR has to offer. For example, I purchased my Min bed frame there, and my mattress. Industry City has two floors, you can see the Statue of Liberty from the window of the second floor. Two floors in an Industry City warehouse is huge, much larger than any Manhattan showoom could hope to hold. Pretty much every product DWR has sold is represented. To get to Secaucus from Manhattan I had to take a NJ commuter train from Penn Station to NJ, then an Uber. Industry City was just a subway ride away - the showroom is two blocks from the subway, and there was a free shuttle bus from the subway to the showroom. Weather was gorgeous, so I just walked, but definitely would appreciate that in the winter. My new apartment has a kitchen island, so I needed counter stools and a chair for my computer. Jeremy was super helpful. He lent me his measuring tape so I could see the height proportion between the counter stools and my kitchen island. There was a huge selection of stools. The extensive selection of counter stools made me feel like Goldilocks - was great to sit and try out all of them. Jeremy explained the height difference between a counter stool and a bar stool. Previously, I assumed they were interchangeable, but they are not (Bar stools are taller). Appreciated how informative Jeremy was. Finally found the Eames wooden stools that I wanted. DWR only had one chrome legged stool, and another with white enamel legged stool. In a perfect world, would have wanted both stools to have chrome legs. As it turns out, we do not live in a perfect world. But DWR comes pretty close to perfect - the prices at the outlet vs the prices at the store in SoHo are drastically lower. Was able to get both Eames stools, and an Eames fiberglass chair at a bargain price, and was able to stick to my budget. Both Eames stools and my chair were flawless - no chips, dings, marks, at all. They are gorgeous. Have enjoyed them in my home so much the last two days. Now that I can eat at the kitchen island, my house is now a home. read more

On a most recent visit we were very pleased. Actually found a beautiful Tom Dixon Flash table during one of their sales and the lovely Sales Associate gave some great interior design advice and offered an additional discount on top of that. Best of all, unlike the badly damaged merch encountered on all previous visits, this item was a legit "floor sample" with only a minor scratch. Def worth it with the 50% reduction. Visited this outlet after hoping to take the other negative reviews with a grain of salt. I'm sorry to say the bad reviews are right, do yourself a favor and skip it. I was shocked at what they were charging for items with such severe damage I would hardly even consider taking them home from a yard sale. Not to mention, the service was non existent. I know this is an outlet but we went to the furniture outlet next door and were offered water and had someone help show us around for items we were looking for. DWR had maybe 6 people working in the store, all of them sitting around doing nothing, without even so much as a hello. How they keep their doors open is beyond me, I understand that these are designer originals but you can find better pieces on craigslist in better condition. read more

I have been a customer of DWR in SoHo and Paramus, NJ and have had nothing but amazing experiences. Staff is always polite and very knowledgeable of their products with a show of welcome for all questions and advice. However, my experience at DWR Outlet was been quite the opposite via over the phone and during an in-person visit. Very rude staff, I asked someone named Crissy a question and although she seemed like she did not want to be bothered (doing nothing) she answered and when I went back to ask her another question she exhaled deeply and interrupted me before I could finish my question. This place has great potential but unfortunately the customer service quality is unacceptable. This place can have a negative impact on the DWR brand as a whole. Staff needs to be retrained to treat clients not only with respect but to treat us like humans. read more

For the most part, they'll give you small discounts for severely damaged furniture. It's a lot of stuff that was run over by a tank and you can get it for 30 pct less now. Having said that, you can find great deals for lamps for instance the have one or two parts missing - I bought a grasshopper lamp there for about $220 and only bulb socket was broken. $12 and half an hour later I had a brand new $1k lamp. read more
