Ok, so I made a big move from California to NYC and was super worried about finding furniture that was both good in quality and affordable. I am SO happy that I found this place. Both Lion and Renee are the most wonderful humans and helped bring my vision to life. The dresser is a stunning green and I asked Lion if he could add some gold handles for me (totally let him take the wheel on that) -- super pleased with the result. The night stand was a deep cherry color before and I asked if he could refurbish it and paint it a dark teal for an additional cost. This place is teeny tiny but has some excellent pieces. But everything is stacked on top of each other so it's not really good for browsing- I asked the folks there about specific things I was looking for and they pointed me to what they had available. I ended up buying an amazing mid century glider chair. The straps under the seat cushion were a little rotten so they replaced all the straps and put a fabric cover over it so it's very secure! We were in need of a couch after our cheap, old one no longer fit out needs. We searched everywhere online for a brand new couch within our budget, but they all had terrible reviews (poor quality, broke easily) so we decided on getting one second hand and had our eye out for some quality vintage seating. To be honest, I didn't have high hopes going into Lion's Den because most vintage furniture stores in the area are overpriced. However, we found a couch right away that was inexpensive, sturdy, and unique. They also offered same-day delivery to our third floor apartment for a great rate. I think that the store workers are super nice and helpful and they only charge a delivery fee of $45 which is nice, however the prices are kind of on the higher end for what it is, there are certain items that are broken but still priced high. Great find! The owner and his assistant are super friendly. They didn't have the chair style I wanted in stock. But I found some on Craigslist and Lion's Den refinished them for me. I was dreaming of mint/sage dining chairs and they came out perfect! I purchased the paint color and they sanded and painted for a great price. Plus, I live super far away and they gave me a ride home with my chairs for cheaper than a Lyft. Highly recommend! read more

I would give this store 10 stars if I could. Lion has gone far way above and beyond what I could even hope for. We bought a new house and basically furnished almost the entire house with his furniture, which he restored (extremely beautifully!!!) for us and delivered them perfectly. We were honestly speechless by the customer service we got. And the pieces he recommended were just spot on and everything fit so perfectly and so beautifully with our new place. The Lion's Den really has some treasures. Had we furnished our place anywhere else, the cost would have been at least 3 to 5 times more. We have become lifetime customers and even friends now. Trust me, we are going to be recommending his store up and down to any of our friends who need furniture or wood restoration work. I cannot even begin to express my gratitude to the staff of the Lion's Den! I'm just a young black girl trying to do school and my family isn't here with me, haha. They understood that and were so kind/encouraging. One particular man, Mr. Clinton, was sooooo nice and helpful. I wanted to refinish the three pieces of furniture I bought and he did that for me, as well as told me the exact paint to get. He was also extremely helpful throughout the process of me finding and purchasing the furniture. They are already discounted but gave me a great student rate and even delivered my furniture (to the FOURTH floor!) for a small fee. I found three AMAZING pieces, got such warm treatment, and an awesome experience. They go above and beyond to help out. New favorite second hand store! Walked in and had all the furniture I needed for my new apartment within 30 minutes, and delivered the next morning! The pieces are beautiful and Lion was extremely helpful/reassuring as I decided what I wanted, even offering to fix some damaged hinges... delivered straight to my door up four flights of stairs and now I'm finally living in an apartment furnished with character. I think they were moving stuff around and cleaning/refurbishing some stuff while I was there, because there was some varnish out and some tables taken apart etc. Anyways, this place is great to check out if you need some cheap furniture or something random and don't know what you actually are looking for. The vibe seemed chill enough where you could walk in and out and no one would really mind too much or bother you. I spotted a road bike in there in great shape and some cool looking chairs. This place has a pretty interesting inventory. The staff is very helpful and friendly and they stain and fix up pieces if you'd like and the delivery price is great. Sure you can get new fangled furniture for cheaper or a similar price but it's not going to be solid wood and it's not going to have the character of some of these old pieces you'll find at lions den. read more

Lion is the king of Broadway and the Lion's Den holds layers of unique treasures; his inventory is constantly evolving and his refurbishing team is very skilled. I will always visit the Den if I need anything (desk chair, table, sitting chairs, lamps, dressers, etc.) and if Lion doesn't have it (though he usually does) he will call me when an item I want comes into the shop. This place is great! I got the most amazing solid wood, vintage dresser from here and I paid the same price I would for Ikea furniture. It was already in great condition but they still refinished it for me (and did a fab job) plus they delivered it for free (I think the minimum is $150) I've gotten soooo many compliments on the piece. I went in here to buy a dresser the other day and was treated very kindly by the lady at the register. She is a sweetheart. I picked out a dresser and it was delivered later that same day! Great prices for good quality furniture and fair delivery prices too. If you need furniture, check here before you go to Ikea and you will definitely find a better bang for your buck. read more

Got two great big mirrors at Lion's Den today and I am very happy. They are originals and look great--no trip to IKEA required. The staff is friendly and helpful. The store inside is very crowded, lots of clothes tossed around so that it can be hard to see the furniture. However, don't be deterred. The place is full of gems, and the prices are reasonable. Also, this is a great antidote to anonymous corporate megastores. I dig the neighborhood vibe. read more

This is how, in my opinion, a proper second hand furniture store should look like: furniture everywhere, in a variety of conditions and from several different time periods. The owner was very friendly and helped me dig out the things I wanted to take a look at. You can definitely find real gems here - if you are prepared for the work of getting them out of the piles! Not very pricey and some really rare things, but also a lot of plain old stuff. read more

This place is the best! The owner is very accommodating and not a pushy salesman, which is unusual for this sort of business. Great for cheap-ish used furniture (prices are negotiable), with some special vintage treasures. They offer free delivery if you buy at least 150$ worth of merchandise. read more
