My friend and I came here on a Saturday afternoon to test out couches. I haven't been to many IKEAs, but I imagine that this one is standard. The showrooms are on the second floor, with the first floor being the warehouse and some smaller household items (ex.: lamps, side tables, plates, etc.). We had a few questions and spoke with a few different sales associates. Some were very helpful, and others were a bit unclear with their answers. The store is a nice layout with various showrooms. On the topic of the Cafe & Restaurant, the food is a affordable low prices. The swedish meatballs and delicious. The mashed potatoes lack any flavor. And the service to get through the line is unbelievably slow and painful. That being said, when you're in Ikea, getting the meatballs is part of the experience. Also I was pleasantly surprised that this store has oatmilk for the coffee which is free for Ikea members! And for $1.49, the gooey chocolate cake is fudgy and sweet. read more

Super fun spot to spend a day! there is a very convenient bus that takes you to Ikea (though i've also heard there is a free ferry). It's massive inside and you can spend hours looking at and trying the furniture, as well as a great spot for stocking your kitchen. We got a bit peckish after browsing for a while and also really enjoyed the restaurant and swedish meatballs. There's a ton of novelty in going to Ikea and will definitely be spending more time here! read more

IKEA is like purgatory ... But with Swedish Meatballs. There's so many good things but also a lot of room for improvement. Overall, I'm a fan but would love it if they addressed the downsides. Pros: - A wide variety of furniture and home goods at various price points, designs and aesthetics. You can even get a fridge, dishwasher or microwave - not that you should. - The quality matches or exceeds the cost, good value - Kinda fun seeing the different rooms and how all the decor elements tie in. Great for inspiration. Cons: - Returns can take forever. I waited for an hour on a weekend. I could've ran the maze twice. Definitely recommend returning stuff on a weekday - The cafe selection is now meh. Hotdogs with no condiments, pizza that looks unappetizing ... No bueno. The cinnabuns are still good though. - It's sometimes hard to navigate without having to endure the maze! Brooklyn IKEA is in Red Hook, Bklyn, but has all the amenities of any other ikea. I live in Manhattan, so I took the 40 min ferry across the Hudson River. It's faster than taking the train & #61 bus to the last stop which will take an 1 hour 1/2 ride based on where ur coming from. It's an ikea so I have no expectations for service. This one is generally well organized, and clean. The restaurant there can be a bit slow depending on the time of day so you have to be patient. If there's any sort of price discrepancies, even if you were to take a picture of the price tag employees generally were not helpful or they said conflicting things so it wasn't even worth my time to dispute. I am willing to deal with that though to get reasonably priced and or cheap furniture or knickknacks to fill my apartment. It is better to go there on a weekday. It's not so crowded. read more

It's IKEA. You get what you pay for. It's for those who are transitioning and only need this piece of furniture for a year or two. I came here for a bed for a toddler, so we aren't going to use it for long. Some of the beds that are less than $100 were very poorly made. It is solid wood, but without varnish or finishing, it will not last very long. The IKEA staff varies from being not helpful at all to very helpful. YMMV. We had lunch there out of convenience. It is cafeteria style. The wait on line was ridiculous because they only had one lane open. It took me 30 min to order in a cafeteria. The food was not as bad as it could have been. Free ferry on the weekend make sure to check their schedule. It was a nice ride from manhattan and into Brooklyn directly in front of ikea parking lot. There is a play land section if your kids want to hangout there instead of shopping with you for 30 minutes. There is also a food court upstairs. Meatballs chicken tenders French fries Mac and cheese salmon chocolate cake. Very kids and adult friendly. You order your food and then pay. Then find yourself a seat. There might be a wait during the weekend if you drop by during lunch hours but there are plenty of seatings. IKEA has a lot of furnitures and home display and DIY items. Very affordable items and cool to just browse around on a cold day. After check out there is also hot dog of $1! Love their meatballs as always with the gravy and lingonberry jam. read more

From 42nd St subway, can walk or take the M42 bus (free xfer) to get to the west side pier, where a lot of water transport boats are docked. Didn't know of this area until now. Went once to the Bklyn IKEA by car and just read about the free ferry on weekends, schedule runs til 9/1/24. The views were really the highlight - from midtown, around the Battery park area to Wall St stop, Governor's Island, Statue of Liberty, and NJ side. Bring a water bottle bec it does get hot under the sun. We got off and an easy walk through the parking lot and we were there. To the restaurant first on the upper floor. Seating is more spread out, with some outdoor views which was nice. Menu is same as other locations. No decaf coffee (I usually make it iced). Store area is not as large as the Long Island location. The showroom had a lot of covered sections so wasn't a good day for that so just went downstairs to the marketplace. Had to think of how much we were buying bec we will be taking the train home. I was ready with a few reusable bags but got a nice one to put cushions which I got. Planned to get to the dock earlier after seeing a long line before but wanted to get a drink from the snack shop. At 5:30pm, they had almost nothing available for food/drinks- no fountain drinks or water. Vending machine was broken too. Restrooms need better maintenance. Took the last ferry and the line wasn't bad. Views were nicer with the sun going down and air was cooler. read more

IKEA has great prices, and although it requires a subway and bus for me to get there, it is worth the trip. The IKEA shuttle starts in the afternoon, so getting there earlier on an MTA bus is an option. IKEA member benefits include a cafe item on birthday, free coffee and a generous birthday coupon. It is huge, so if not relying on signage to locate items, I suggest asking staff. Many times I arrived at checkout to find items usually displayed there had been moved, requiring a long trek back into store. I had a bed delivered today to my parents house and they are both elderly. There was in home or door step. They should be more clear as to what door step in an apartment building means. I would have opted for in home and even after calling the store the representative would not offer to have the men come back to assist with getting the bed up to the apartment of my elderly parents. I enjoyed this location better than the Hicksville Long Island due to the sheer size, easier parking and just the overall friendliness of the staff and patron. Even better is nearby Red hook there are so many good restaurants to visit after a day of shopping. I especially like the cafeteria where there is a Clear view of Manhattan. read more

It's an IKEA! Only difference is this one is in Red Hook BRKLN, and has a view of the Manhattan skyline from the bistro. I brought my laptop to get some things done using their free WiFi. Sat on a cushy couch in the cafe lobby sipping my free endless teas as an IKEA family card member. Had the lemon cod, mashed potatoes with gravy and peas. When I finished eating, I did a little shopping. Inexpensive kitchen and bedding, art, candles, mirrors, plants to peruse. Same as any other store. The model kitchens are my favorites, always Imagining which styles I'd put in my next home. After day dreaming a bit, I finished the outing with a warm cinnamon bun from the cafe by the checkouts. These are not long term furniture or furnishings but great if you are looking to decorate at a good price and then switch out the furniture because the flimsiness can wear out and because you can at affordable prices without feeling the guilt! Some well built furniture got phased out like old wooden entertainment centers that lasted forever but unfortunately the standard tv sizes all changed and could no longer fit the new televisions. The IKEA products are great when you don't need long term furniture as styles also change. There are also lots of YouTube hacks of IKEA furniture! Infind this Ikea to be great. It always comes in habdy for any room renovation that i need. This visit i was looking for a particular item that is placed underneath a mattress to keep it from sinking. Upon arriving i immediately went to an employee who was able to assist me quickly. Of the top of their head they told me where the item was located, the exact aisle and everything. Upon walking there i saw the item right away and went to stand in line. The cashier linetook a while. I was expecting tit to move fast as it was the express 15 items or less self service line. It took some time even with an employee assisting the customers in front of me on line. No organization whatsoever everything is everywhere like in other states like California. Everything is organized in certain sections. They were so many things all over the place like a lot of glass pieces cups and stuff like that are all over the store from the second apparently the third floor is the second floor, but the first floor is one above when you walk in from the parking lot. It was hectic from the boat all the way to the building and then there's so many people just hanging out on the boat itself they're not telling them to get off so people could get on and it was ridiculous. Just the lines everywhere no organization whatsoever they have like 90% check out For themselves and they're being watched every single time they single out mostly people of color to redo their chickens so that's what they're doing there not happy. The food was terrible. It was barely warm that we ordered in the cafeteria. Will never eat there again and I doubt her that I'm gonna go visit her again. I'd rather go onto Amazon Better deals cheaper and don't have to be dealing with that back-and-forth with people so rude and there was no customer service throughout the two floors of merchandise at all and when I did encounter one very rude so not helpful not a nice place to visit is the worst IKEA I've ever been to read more

I might be the only person who has never stepped foot into an IKEA? Well, that all changed when I decided to take the hour drive to the oh so popular conglomerate on Saturday (March 4) I didn't have anything in mind to purchase but I had heard folks rave about the Swedish meatballs so I went with the intention to buy those and see if they were worthwhile. The store is massive but it is kept clean. For the most part, items were in their right place and things were in order despite its busyness. In a store as big and busy as IKEA, it was hard to find a worker on the floor and enough open cashier registers. The 15 items or less lines were cordoned off and closed. I waited in line for about 20 mins to purchase three chocolate bars and cookies. Ridiculous. Finally, it was time to experience the star of the show - Swedish meatballs. I walked up to the kiosk to order and the meatballs were coming up as unavailable (gray) despite watching a worker fill a cup of them, who continued to tell me yes, gray means they are out of it. I was then told the next floor up has food as well and I can order there. Upstairs is a whole bistro with an array of food choices, including cake. After encountering another long line and waiting for 30 mins before I even got to the front, meatballs with the cranberry and gravy, fries and hot dog were secured. Weird that IKEA doesn't have to-go containers so I had to do it Party Style - a paper plate as a cover. The meatballs are good ... with the cranberry and gravy. It needs the accoutrements otherwise the meatballs are pretty mediocre. The fries were my favorite of the food items but I love fries so I might have a bias there. The hot dog was tiny (probably three bites) and nothing to write home about. I highly doubt I'll return to IKEA unless I need to purchase something substantial. But even then, IDK if IKEA would first come to mind. read more

If I could give a place zero stars, I would. Ikea needs to stop outsourcing their help center customer support via phone. The people on the phone were completely incompetent, incoherent, and downright rude with absolutely zero social skills. They constantly interrupted, were irritable in tone, and were not helpful - especially in their "resolution" department. Ikea needs to "resolve" their abysmal customer service portal and their insufferable bottlenecks. I ordered a Brimnes closet that seemed relatively intuitive and easy to order online, and it clearly stated via email that the delivery was set for January 15 8am-9pm. Come 8pm, I didn't hear a word from Ikea nor receive any email communication. I had to call Ikea myself only to find out that they cancelled my order. I hired a Task Rabbit and everything according to their appointed delivery date. I don't want to have to haul my ass all the way to the Brooklyn or Queens Ikea from Manhattan in order to sort out an online order! Needless to say, this left an extremely negative experience behind, and I will be ordering elsewhere even if an item is more expensive. NEVER AGAIN. read more

Against my better judgement, I went back to this store to buy the closet that caught my eye during my last visit. After getting my stuff, the check out lines were long and slow because only 2 registers were opened. Express checkout were just as bad. After surviving the checkout and lugging it home, I thought my frustrations would be over but more problems developed after a few fasteners broke upon screwing them in. The part were made of plastic now instead of metal as in the past. Going back to IKEA, I got my replacement parts the next day with no problem at the store; seems like they expect these situations a lot. I guess asking for replacement parts is a daily thing for IKEA. Even though getting replacement parts was easy, the time and gas wasted dealing with traffic and getting back having to finish my giant puzzle really irked me.... more like "kill me!" read more

I still love Ikea, but this is STILL the worst. The merchandise in this store is usually a mess. Most of the people who work here are, if not mean, simply could care less about helping. Check out is always a nightmare, with long lines and the self-checkout usually closed. And the food is consistently bad. I love the meatballs at all other Ikeas, but here they are tiny, dried up, the gravy is just brown water, and it's served on a tiny paper plate. And it's about $12!! Ikea is always fun to walk around and get inspired and look for ideas to update your home or apartment. The line to get in the store looks long as it snakes into the parking lot,, but it moves super duper quick.. While in the office furniture department, staff member, Joseph was very helpful. My hunny and I went to Ikea sorta early to return some closet shelves. We got here around 10:30ish and lined up outside on the return line. I was bummed when I saw a lot of people waiting on line because I wanted to get in and out as quick as possible. Much to my surprise the line moved pretty swiftly which worked in our favor. Only a few people were allowed inside. We were given tickets with numbers and directions on where to go once inside. Once you go to the first floor you're directed to walk towards your left and wait on another line. There's social distance decals on the floor to separate yourself from other customers. IKEA is setup like a maze which caused me to have a slight panic attack because I didn't think I'd make it out with all of the loops and turns we had to make just to get back to the Marketplace or Main Level. Overall the return process wasn't bad. I love that you're allowed 365 days to change your mind about an open or unopened product. Unfortunately for the people waiting downstairs they may have a longer wait because there's only three employees working in the return area. read more
