Was out hunting for Christmas ornaments and we happened upon this great little home store. They had a great variety of ornaments at all price ranges and we bought some more practical ones and some really adorable and fun ones (santa velociraptor and a merman!) The rest of the store was just as cool and had lots of fun Brooklyn themed kitchen and dining paraphernalia. We bought some cute towels and will definitely be back for more fun stuff. While walking down Court Street in Brooklyn my friend suggested we take a look in Duman, "just because it is a beautiful store with lovely things". The store is, indeed, beautifully appointed with a nice variety of items and I was not expecting such great prices, nor was I expecting such extraordinarily nice people. We commented when we left the store (not yet having purchased anything) just how wonderful it was to enjoy such an easy, helpful, and cordial human exchange such as the one we had with the proprietor. Sadly, in today's world it really stands out as something unusual to savor. Some follow up I did with someone else at the shop gave me the same feeling. I found just the luxurious towels I had been hoping to find, and am already a devoted customer. Flatware, pottery, candles, bedding, glassware, towels, linens, organizers, containers of all kinds, picture frames...if you're in the market, they've got everything you need to make your house a home. It's a nice mix of local goods and name brands; the owners know quality when they see it. If you're my wife, you could also use this store to point out all the things they stock that are better than all the things I brought into our relationship. Noticed this place as we were having lunch at the Thai restaurant a couple doors down Extremely happy with my purchase! I've always loved Turkish glass and towels and the store had such an awesome collection of these things... we were in a rush unfortunately so I only bought some Turkish glass coasters each $6... I really like this place for all home-y items you never knew you were missing and regular home goods that you *did* know you needed (shoe/clothing organizers, bathroom accessories, etc.). The dish towels, aprons and kitchenware are really unique and fun -- this is the spot to go if you're looking for hand towels or glassware with dogs or cats or Brooklyn/NYC designs on them. There are tons of candles, towels, pillows, rugs, blankets, bedding and other home items. Additionally, since it's the holiday season, the entire front section is full of ornaments, plain colored ball ornaments and other fancier ones, wrapping paper and other Christmasy things. I especially love their dish towels and oven mitts, which are top quality, and their selection of cotton rugs. I've gotten 4 of them, and they look beautiful grouped together or used individually. Today was the second time I visited Duman Home since it opened earlier this year, and I was once again impressed by the quality of goods for the price, and even more by the service. I generally hate shopping, but they made it easy for me by helping when needed, and leaving me alone to browse the rest of the time. Today I was looking for white dinner plates NOT made in China, and although they didn't have any in stock yet, they told me they were just in the process of ordering a model made in Italy and quite reasonably priced, especially for this pricey neighborhood. I plan to go back next week to buy some. And I'm already eyeing some new towels. As the previous review said, they aren't stocked with tons of things, but I like the simple taste of what they do have and that there are goods made in Italy and locally. And while I can't guarantee that anyone else will be quite as smitten with the place as I am (as I said I'm not much of a shopper), I give it a big thumbs up and wish them much luck! read more

Normally we love this place and have had great experiences with the people who work there. Today, however, we just had a bad experience with the woman with red hair who works there. My wife asked for the towels that were in the window- she refused to get them for us, and said they put the rest of those towels in the basement. She then goes to look for them a few times but came back empty handed. We told her that we only wanted four, the quantity in the window, and asked if we could please have those ones. She said no. After several minutes another woman (who was very sweet) finds three towels in the basement. So then I insisted that I wanted one of the towels in the window. She then begrudgingly gave it to us. She rang them up and they were more expensive we thought they would be. We asked why they were so much more expensive than the posted sign. Again with a lot of attitude she said the towels we wanted were not part of the sale that was advertised in the window. We bought them anyway, but after we were so irritated by the woman's attitude and the whole experience that we returned them. We will be bringing our business elsewhere. read more

I was in a few weeks back when they were having a sale on comforters and left as I was in a hurry and not heading straight home..I've been busy since but went in today only to find the sale over. The saleswoman mentioned the sale was over and was pretty blunt about it until a gentleman in the store said he would honor the price I saw a few weeks back. He was such a good salesman that I purchased a duvet to go with the new comforter. In this day of online shopping letting someone walk out the door is dangerous. I love Duman! Great place to get nice candles and soaps. In fact, I just realized we also have our towels (wonderful, Turkish) and bed sheets from them too! They're always having various sales and their stuff is reasonably priced to begin with. We went in to get christmas decorations, and they're fully stocked with beautiful tree decorations.
