I haven't a clue what you guys are talking about. Life boutique is my favorite Thrift store ever! Yes, I agree upstairs is pretty pricey, however for a person with a good eye and smart tactics, you can definitely win in this store. Wednesdays are first of all the only day I ever go thrifting because Wednesdays sales are ridiculous. It's like 50%off. Secondly, they have an upstairs and downstairs. Downstairs you can find amazing things between $1 and $4 dollars. The last time I went here I racked up, espcially on my work clothes selection. I got j crew ,french connection and ann taylor skirts for $1. I also got a J Crew suit for $4. Most amazing shopping experience ever! I left with BAGSS for $34 bucks. I dont even have to pay to get them altered because they fit perfectly and were dry cleaned pressed. read more

First of all, whoever is curating the selection here has seriously excellent taste. I was just resigned to following my wife and several other members of her family on a tour of the neighborhood boutiques, and I couldn't help but be intrigued immediately. The shop is MUCH larger than it looks from the street, and it houses an eclectic and funky mix of furniture, artwork, footwear, knicknacks,, jewelry, mugs, home decor...not just women's clothing, as you find at many shops. Basically, there was a lot for me to check out as my wife perused (and bought from) the clothing racks. There's also a $5 rack, which anyone can get down with. And when you finally get bored because your wife is much slower than you are, they have a very comfortable couch (for sale) and an original Nintendo (not for sale, for play) hooked up to the flatscreen on the wall. BRILLIANT. Yes, I did play the first Super Mario Bros until I was dragged out. No, I only made it to 8-2. Yes, I'm losing my touch. Yes, Unearth is the spot.

Came in today at around 4pm, in my card I gathered like 5 pairs of pants, two dresses, two shirts all ridiculously overpriced, every top they sell should be 3$ tops yet whatever, now this place is becoming greedy, taking advantage of their customers. They don't have any reasons whatsoever to sell their stuff for $25-30. So at 4:50pm they turned off the lights and became yelling at me that they are closed. I've been coming to this store for years, and have been to this location more then 7 times in the past two months, spent $500+ and usually I come in early, yet we all have to work, so I can't always come in a morning, still I hear employees complain how they work all day and "these people don't understand and are disrespectful". Truly, I think it's the woman complaining behind the counter is being disrespectful. Personally for me 30 mins is more then enough time to try on a couple of pants and see which one am I getting. Yet, even with me always coming early and putting everything neatly back on the rack, picking things up from the floor because they have ridiculously cheap hangers that don't hold a pair of pants, and I like to see what's have fallen on the floor and love to leave things tidy and also help them out because why not, yet all I get from them is a side eye and talks behind my back and laughs. Still get harassed by employees, I can hear them complain and talk crap in Spanish, and kick me out at 4:50pm, just when I was walking towards the mirror this employee yells at me "it's closed!!". Well if you want your store to close at 5pm, put the sign on that you close at 5pm. If your closing time is set for 5:30pm then you don't have a right to kick me out at 4:50pm. So sad some people gotta be so bitter, rude and disrespectful. Ew. Never again

I was absolutely devastated when they closed up their old location a couple of years ago. There really is no replacement for HW, as well as its mission to serve the AIDS/HIV population. So, I am beyond thrilled that Housing Works is back on Montague Street (and in a location much closer to my apartment, to my financial detriment!) The newer storefront feels a tad smaller than the old space, but with a similar layout. Clothing and accessories in front, housewares towards the back, with the donations area at the back wall. The selection seemed more thoughtfully curated, if a little thin. Housewares and bric a brac organized and styled aesthetically by color. Clothing styles were mixed and a little on the higher end, but this reflected some items that were newer or with tags.
