    Doors are open!

Whisk is open! If you live in this neighborhood and cook as much as I do, no doubt you're mourning the loss of A Cook's Companion as well. Thankfully, Whisk has stepped up to fill the void. Having just walked in and checked out the shop (and having been to other Whisk locations), I'm absolutely optimistic that it's going to be a great addition to the neighborhood. I fully expect to be updating this review as I spend more time and money here, but for now I can report that it's the same bright, airy, conveniently located space the previous store was. The staff seems friendly enough, and time will tell if they are as knowledgable and helpful as Cook's. Since they are only 3-4 days in, the shelves are being stocked as we speak...but don't be scared. They've got the measuring cups, cake pans, salad spinners, wooden spoons, spatulas, non-stick pans, whisks (!), glassware, and many other items you might be needing. They definitely had the silicone brush I needed for slathering sauce onto ribs this weekend (it's too hot not to grill things). That said, a lot of stuff is still yet to be delivered, so give them a break as they get ramped up to speed. They didn't have any proofing baskets or lames out yet, but I can't blame them for the fact that they are just opening as my bread-baking habit gets out of control. I'll just have to wait and do my best not to spend my money with Amazon; buy local people, so our neighborhoods don't die as the world is taken over by our tech overlords. I don't think anyone can TRULY replace Jennifer from A Cook's Companion, but Whisk looks like they are going to keep me supplied with cookware now that she's gone. And I'm glad they're here.

A kitchen supply store interior featuring cookware, knives, utensils, and kitchen gadgets on shelves and racks, with a wooden floor and a skylight.

The owner and his wife are super friendly and helpful. Never try to upsell you into something you don't need. If they don't have it, they'll get it for you. Came to get my knives sharpened, and asked when I could pick them up, and he literally gave me a time later that day! Such a great addition having them in the neighborhood. Highly recommend coming here for any kitchen needs you might have!

For those who know, a Chinese cleaver is not a bone cleaver, it is used like a Chefs knife and cannot break through bone. The cleaver was heavily damaged and I was looking for a place to help me repair and sharpen the blade. Indulge Kitchen Supplies was one of the only places that responded and I am glad they did. The store itself is on a main street with a fair amount of street parking and the store is super cute. The store sells a variety of kitchen gear from different knives, cutlery, utensils, etc. Most of the curated items are modern and high quality such as Durelex glass and Global Knives. While their prices are a little higher than online prices, they have quality stuff and I recommend buying from them. Their knife sharpening and repair was a life saver for me. The Chinese Cleaver is a large knife and they were able to get it done for me in less than a day and it was fully repaired. Looking at the photos you can see that they took out all the dings on the knife and sharpened it back to the point where I could use it again. I highly recommend this service and would readily come back when I need any knife repair or sharpening.

PC Richards was there for us. They had a good selection of dishwashers in the brand (Bosch) and price range (mid) we were looking, and their prices turned out to be better than the other competitors I looked at. More importantly, their delivery could happen sooner, and cheaper. There ended up being a hiccup in delivery that was mostly my fault, and when I called and e-mailed in to figure it out, P.C. Richards' responses were surprisingly quick and on point. They were even nice enough not to blame me for all the problems. I have come to expect so little of customer service reps that this was a breath of fresh air. Once we got the delivery day and time actually figured out, the technician was on time, efficient, and nice enough. There was an extra outlet that needed to be created to install so there was an extra charge I wasn't expecting, but I imagine that's just how this goes sometimes. All in all, a lot less painless than it could have been, and I truly appreciate not having to wash all my dishes by hand.

Two guys delivered the machine. Upon arrival, there was a dent towards the bottom of the machine [see pic]. I was under the impression that I would have the machine installed for free at the same time as delivery. One of the guys assured me that the installation was an additional $120 and said that I could either call and schedule an installation for a later time or pay him $120, "off the record" via cash, venmo, or zelle, to have it installed then. I was pretty sure I chose this particular machine because it came with free installation. When I picked up my phone and said I was going to call to verify, the guy said, "nevermind, we don't have hoses on us so you'll have to call to schedule an installation at a later time anyway." I was able to verify with a representative over the phone that I did indeed have free installation for this item. This guys' sketchy attempt at a side-hustle threw me off. After the guys left, I noticed they did not place the laundry machine all the way in the room, so it was blocking my bathroom door. "The Product Weight is 302 Lbs." - over twice my own body weight. When I tried to move it, it wouldn't budge. I have one bathroom in this apartment and as it was my Saturday, I had plans later that evening. Point blank, I needed my bathroom. When I called to complain they said there was nothing they could do about moving the machine until the scheduled delivery date, which was scheduled for 6 days later. They also had the audacity to say that the picture that the delivery man took looked like the machine was already placed all the way inside the room and when they spoke to him, he said my bathroom shouldn't have been blocked. Undermining a claim I could so easily prove was nothing short of the unprofessionalism inculcating this entire experience [see video]. While on the phone, I was told that the guys had already left and were en route back to the factory. Nothing could be done. I had to cancel my evening plans and spend the next 6 hours trying to find help. Thank God for Taskrabbit! I was finally able to get someone on Taskrabbit to come help me move the machine 13" back [see attached picture]. The customer service rep. did provide a $60 reimbursement from the company for the inconvenience of it all, but in my opinion that is nothing compared to the time it took for me to correct the negligence of the low grade worker this company is choosing to be represented by. Prior to the deliverer's arrival I was trying to place another order with PC Richard & Son for a T.V., another costly service. Thank God that did not go through! I took my services to BestBuy instead. Because of this experience, PC Richard & Son has lost a loyal customer. I will never purchase anything from them again and advise anyone who is scheduling a delivery service to think twice beforehand, and consider the possibility that whoever you get, might try to scam you.

(People still buy them?! It's like buying a flash light when you have one on your phone...) Customer service is also very friendly and nice and always more then willing to help you find whatever you're looking for and give you the perfect recommendation of the product which will meet your needs. Price is also okay although not the cheapest, but hey, when you have a big nice place with great customer service you can't expect them to charge you a bodega price for a pot. Speaking of Pot's I was once on the road out in the wild and needed urgently a pot for some cooking, so I stopped into a small bodega (don't ask me what I was thinking and I ask the cashier if he by any chance has a pot so he says "umm Pot"? sure, go right to the back of the store, It took me a minute to realize that he was talking about "POT" and I quickly made a U turn and ran outta there laughing my head off....... In overall this please is great and therefore my go to place whenever I need nay home supplies. ---------------------------------------------------- *Mikvah, for those of you that are not familiar with it, it is a religious ritual that you need to submerge any dish that you intend of using multiple times into a tub of water that contains a certain amount of pure rain water, and after submerging it into the Mikvah you're able to use the dish for as many times as you wish. (Disposable stuff don't require a Mikvah)
