I'm part of a maintenance team of a big Management company. Since day one that I've been going there it's been nothing but a great asset to Brooklyn. running in and out sometime 2 to 4 times a day and every time that I'm there I'm always attended and helped with my needs. Even the cat is friendly and let's you greet her. Totally recommended for one-on-one assistance ,Home Depot where you'll be there for hours and be lucky enough to see someone even to get them to aislassist you. Their professional courteous will even take orders over the phone and have it ready for you to do Delivery cut keys. Very comfortable place to shop. I give it five stars plus now if only they had free parking. That would definitely put it in the WOW! factor. read more

They definitely have the supplies you need but the heavy woman with the glasses has a nasty attitude. She talks about you in Spanish to her coworkers, and only seems to be nice to the men that come in the store! Also if you get your keys copied, and they don't work, hold on to your receipt (maybe even the clothes you wore that day) because a minute later they cant help you. Upset that I was lied to on the phone. They do not provide the service I was told they do and I went out of my way to leave work early and uber far to get here. I'd advise they read the emails that they respond to and actually listen to the questions while speaking to clients or potential clients on the phone. read more

This is the best store EVER. The staff spent an hour and a half working with me to figure out how to build a wall and then I didn't end up following through with the project and they don't hate me or anything. Another time they cut a key for me in 2 minutes. It was faster than I ever could have imagined. The prices are low which is great because I am poor. They also have a great selection of spray paint. They had a lot of hardware appliances that I needed for a good price! They also make key copies! Be aware if you are afraid of cats like myself, they have a big fluffy black one randomly roaming around. I'm pretty sure it caused me to run into a few shelves here and there. read more

Broadway Lumber is Bushwick's best hardware store by a far. Could well be Brooklyn's best. They have a wide selection of hardware, plumbing, electrical, paint, etc--you name it, they have it, and in the rare case they don't, they'll call and find someplace that does. They have lumber and will cut pieces to the sizes you request and they also make key copies. Their prices are almost always lower than Home Depot's and their staff is very friendly and very knowledgeable (the polar opposite of Home Depot). read more

Absolutely love this hardware store. I do a lot of DIY projects, sculpture, fixes around the apt, etc. This place has a great selection and reasonable prices. The staff is super friendly, knowledgeable, efficient, and they keep the store well organized, easy to navigate, and fun to browse. Plus there's a sweet store cat. Started my session here with, "online I saw this DIY paint project ..." (which is basically the equivalent of telling a doctor about your web md findings) and the guy didn't even roll his eyes. I haven't read up on paint, so I didn't know what to ask for. He was really patient, listened to what I was looking for, and helped me stick to my low price point. I placed an order for some lumber this morning. Both people I spoke to were very nice, and even answered my email about what I needed and what length I needed the wood to be cut. The delivery driver had already left for the day but I was told I could still have the shipment today and it would be at 4 pm. I tried to pay credit card over the phone but they told me I could only pay by card if I was at the store in person, and I could only pay cash upon arrival. OK--weird, I thought, but I needed the wood and thought it would be great to have it same day so I rearranged my schedule for the day in order to wait for the shipment. 4 rolls around then 4:30 so I called them and there were no trucks out for delivery, nor could they find my order. I mentioned my email and no one was able to access it. Both people I spoke to earlier were gone for the day. I am totally disappointed and feel completely misled by this company. read more

Of the many times I've been in here, I've yet to meet someone working here who seems happy to help a customer. And today, while returning some fluorescent bulbs that I purchased which turned out not to work, I was told, "Usually we don't accept returns, but we'll make an exception." I replied, "But they don't work..." He answered, "But how do I know that you're not just returning the old bulbs?" How about because you clearly remember me buying new bulbs from you and it's easy to tell an of fluorescent bulb from a new one? read more

This mainstay of the neighborhood has a kind staff that patiently does their best to help you find what you need even if you don't know what it is called. The business seems to be locally owed so I prefer to go there over big box home improvement store down the road. They have all basic hardware, paint, and even some lumber. Having them nearby makes my life easier. read more
