It is a good store to buy quantities for stores, businesses and even for your personal use. Very good selection. Last time I was there it was very hard to see what is on the receipt because there was almost no ink. The people standing right outside the exit from Jetro ( they do not work there) are too aggressive. Came here from time to time because cuts of meat for BBQ were decent. Decided to come here and browse the aisles, and saw some frozen seafood and decided to splurge. Looking at the price, it wasn't cheap but figured it wasn't a frequent purchase so bought it and went home. As it turns out--the price listed on the shelves and the actual price were not even close. I can only assume the numbers were transposed when they made the label for the shelves. When I disputed the charge, they accused me of stealing. I price checked against other vendors, and confirmed with the other person I was there with since we looked at the price tag multiple times debating on whether to buy it or not. The only thing "management" could say is the price according to their books was high. I don't see myself coming here if I can help it. I'm glad I had my trial run before opening up accounts with them. For those who plan on coming here ABSOLUTELY make sure you check your receipts and prices before you leave. read more

Jetro is just a big tease. It's an enormous market of all sorts of bulk goods at crazily cheap prices. They have massive jugs of condiments, enormous cases of drinks, large boxes of plasticware and all sorts of food containers from plates to bowls to those huge tins catering companies use for transporting large amounts of food. And unlike most places that sell bulk goods, they also sell fresh produce, meat and seafood in a gigantic walk-in freezer.* They have giant sacks of potatoes, huge vacuum sealed packages of every sort of meat you might want, and live lobster at great prices. Essentially, Jetro sells everything you would need to run a restaurant, but for the most part, in quantities that only make sense if you plan to open your own. Which leads me to why it's such a tease. You can't shop here unless you own a business. I'm almost angry that my buddy took me along on his trip here; now that I know a place like this exists, I'm even more angry at the prices I have to pay at every grocery store, bodega, etc. But I feel lucky that I got to see behind the curtain, and also that I was not impaled by a forklift while wandering around. Restaurant Depot/Jetro - Restaurant Supplies Near Me - Brooklyn, New York

I am a chef with a budding business in New York and I visited Jetro this afternoon in hopes of finding information about membership and price items to patronize the business in the near future. After receiving great service from all the associates in the store, as I walked out I was accosted by someone who I was later told was the owner and accused of stealing. He snatched the item that had been in my hand since I walked into the establishment away from me and called for a security guard who was not at the door when I walked into the store 45 minutes prior to verify that the item was mine. Of course the man didn't recognize the item, nor did he recognize me because I'd been in the store for nearly an hour. And I am positive that he wasn't there when I walked in the store, nor was anyone to greet me, because I walked in very confused and in search of assistance to no avail! After presenting the business card of the store where I purchased the item that was in my hand, and a very heated exchange in the lobby, my item was returned to me and I left. I have NEVER stolen from a store or been accused of such. I am disappointed in the way Jetro handled this situation and will discourage anyone from patronizing not only this location but the establishment entirely. He didn't ASK me anything, he reacted and immediately used rude, physical force in my personal space. I am disgusted. There are local restaurant supply stores that care much more about their customers in the industry city area and I would highly suggest using them instead--ALWAYS. read more

Overall, it's ok here. So many things you could pick up here and staff are very kind. They're willing to help you out when you can't find your item. The lines are fairly slow but I mean sometimes people just stuff a lot of random things into one box so that takes time to sort out. There is one guy in particular I would avoid at this Jetro. Unfortunately there are no names for me to identify but this guy is the slowest worker I've ever seen in my life. You'd expect slower people to be more careful. But nope, not this guy. He miscalculates ALL THE TIME. When I say miscalculating...clearly I do not mean with challenging maths. He is unable to count people's items. It just gets worst when he's snacking on candy on the job. Slows down by an additional 25%. However, he is a strong and kind guy. I just wish this Jetro would give him another task...most people purchasing here are in a rush to go back to their businesses...and having him take 30 minutes on one person that only has 10 items (not even assorted) is too much. read more

The selection is pretty good compared to other locations. The staff, with the exception of the male assistant manager at the door is pleasant to deal with. The one assistant manager is beyond lazy and disrespectful. The first time he was curt and rude, I let it go thinking we all have bad days. Then it happened a second time. Finally, with the third time happened and I realized that he needs an attitude adjustment. All in all, the company spends a little over $1.5 million per year at Jetro/Restaurant Depot - so, with that volume we will have questions and our expectations are simple -- be polite, don't turn your back and walk away to do absolutely nothing but stand at the computer, and admit when you are wrong. read more

Jetro is a very strange place. Basically, it's a really large warehouse where grocery stores and restaurants go to buy their stock. Thus, they have food at very cheap prices. However the catch is that it's not open to the public. You have to go through an approval process where you fill out a form and show them a certificate of authority from the company that you buy for. Their beverage depot is physically next door, but a separate entity that is open to the public, and also really cheap. For my last 4th of July party, I bought 13 cases of beer there on a tax-free day (not sure how that happened) and spent in the neighborhood of $325. Works out to about a buck per bottle, which is a heck of a deal. The place is not very customer friendly, they assume that you know what you're doing. However, the few times I've asked for help, the people have been cool with me. The other patrons can sometimes be nasty as well, opening containers and then putting them back. The store has tried to cut down on this, but it still happens. The checkout lines are always long, the parking lot crowded, and the weekly flier often has inaccuracies. However, Jetro is a very bottom-line oriented business, and once you figure out the ropes, you'll save a bundle for your business. read more

Their refrigerated section is the size of most Manhattan grocery stores. Undoubtedly (and unfortunately), there are restaurants in the NYC metro area that purchase their entire edible inventory from Restaurant Depot. Come early, come often! Sign up for your membership, grab yourself a giant industrial "shopping cart" and dodge careening forklifts as you take in the floor-to-ceiling inventory. All your favorite staples are sold here, in enormous vessels, not to mention a bunch of terrifying things that may gross you out! What a awesome spot when you know what wholesale is compared to retail your mouth may open with aghast. Yes you need a resale food or liquor license to buy here. I purchase many a item here for the holidays having to stock up. Gees the mark up on most items is 500% or more on the retail end of it. I really don't understand I was at the register checking out with a full cart and the guy in front of me had a cart with 3 small can items. Plus he was having all items price checked by the cashier. This place is a disgusting shithole and I dread every time I go there. My family and I have a deli business close by and have been dealing with jetro for years. We are almost forced to go there because there are not many other options. I never like to bash a business on yelp or any social media because I am a business owner myself. I am at the point of disgust with this place. First of all when you go in, the parking lot is a disaster from assholes taking up 2 spots, being extremely tight, and the concrete ground is all busted up and destroyed for years with nobody even giving a shit about repairs. How are you supposed to wheel the piece of shit carts that also don't work on this shitty ground without things falling off the cart? Your lucky if 25% of the carts actually work right. Now when you get inside, the place is dirty, shit all over the place. Some days you can't walk down one aisle with out pallets piled all over where you can't get down the aisle or get to an item you are trying to grab. As for the employees, I've never seen a bigger group of dumb assholes with no respect for the customers. One person wrote another review about the women being followed and harassed. I've witnessed it multiple times and I can even point out some of the guys who do this shit. I've been in arguments and also harassed by some of the people who work there even when I mind my own business. The jerkoffs that drive the machines that carry the pallets have no respect or courtesy to the customer. They expect you to get out of their way immediately and I am surprised I haven't been run over. If that happens I will sue the shit out of jetro. I am not bashing every one of those guys. Some guys are actually good and say hello to me or even help since I am there a lot. The majority suck though. A lot of their items are damaged and broken or even missing stuff. Sometimes I go there for the most important thing on my list and they are out of the item. The lines to check out are a disaster. Sometimes 2-3 registers open and there is so much congestion. Everybody gets impatient and starts to cut in front of each other. Constant fights and arguments. The people at the registers don't give a fuck and constantly ring up the wrong things where I get overcharged. Lately I have had to go back constantly and fight for a credit if I get charged twice or for a case instead of unit. I can't wait to get out of that hellhole and then I have to go right back. Even the people counting at the door, makes me wonder if they really count the items or give a shit. They allow a few guys who don't work there to hang around at checkout and assist people to their cars with the wagon. I have no problem with that since there is 2 guys who I always look for help and I always tip them. They are respectful and aren't even actual employees of jetro. Their is one guy who was cursing me out one day since I didn't agree to have him help me and went with one of my regulars that I know instead. He is known to be crazy by everyone down there but yet they still let him hang around. One day I am going to fuckin lose it and fight somebody in that place because I am getting tired of the whole experience from start to finish. Holy sexual harassment. Myself and the other manager of my restaurant came here. Not only was there a male employee following us around yelling at us while we were trying to get what we needed but then at the check out line a short Hispanic man who worked there actually walked around behind me, made a circular motion around my ass and told me all the guys there are looking at my ass. Are you serious?? And did I mentioned that I had both hands on my cart and he then put both of his hands around me on my cart? I was so scared by the whole situation I ran out. Then sitting outside was what looked like a group of homeless men harassing myself and the other woman that I was with saying that we couldn't load our goods into our car and we need a men to help us. I've been to a lot of places and what really makes this particular Jetro awesome is the fact that they have someone like Denise who works for them. she is the Inventory Controller and any time I go to the store and can't find something she is the first person I go to for help.
