I was out looking for desks and they had a couple of really lovely ones that unfortunately were on the high end of my price range, and though I kind of loved one and wanted to make it work, I ultimately decided to go a little lower on the price. With that said - the store is FULL of cute furniture and decor I'll definitely go back for. They had this gorgeous organizer piece hanging on the wall I'd love to add to my place (but have no wall room for, classic NY), and tons of adorable and kitschy coasters, puzzles, calendars, knick knacks, and more. On top of that, the owner, Elizabeth, is just so sweet and helpful. I'll definitely look forward to coming back here!

I was heading to Lowe's from Smith & 9th St station. When I turned the Lowe's sign, I found junk after junk overflowing to the street. I was pressed with time so I snatched some photos but that's all I could do today but I will write more soon. I need to go back to Lowe's for flooring for my kitchen renovation so i will go around inside of this huge site of junks and ask some questions, especially price. I am very curious.

I get it...times are tough and we're all looking to find ways to make some extra cash. It's just a bit disappointing to see people with overflowing cart blatantly looking up items on eBay at a time when others are struggling and need access to affordable goods. I understand that there isn't much the store can do to combat this. I guess I'm trying to inspire new customers to seek out the store and treat themselves to something nice before it ends up resold for a larger price. It would make me feel a lot better about donating if I knew it was going to someone who would appreciate it a good bargain.

Luis and his family are very educated, dignified and transparent in their business and interpersonal transactions. They eagerly share their vast knowledge and do not pressure or hustle you in any way, shape or form. I felt so relaxed I thought I was talking to a well reknowned art curator at the Metropolitan Museum. They realize that estate or antiques sales more often than not brings emotions to the forefront. They do not take advantage of this sentimental inclination. Their amazing comprehensive command of period design, architecture, artistinal manufacturing, contemporary and traditional art, collectibles, multicultural symbolism, recent market and taste trends is stunning. Further, Junior has a warm sincere manner when speaking to anybody in the family from children, cynical adults or otherwise vulnerable elderly members. Bedford is a classic "mom and pop" shop that has a deeply rooted human touch lacking in more grandiose, faceless commercial institutions. Such small businesses must be venerably cherished as they are protected by local and federal entities. Excellent all the way !

I was absolutely devastated when they closed up their old location a couple of years ago. There really is no replacement for HW, as well as its mission to serve the AIDS/HIV population. Also, with the change in the retail corridors in BK heights as well as Dobro (no more 99 cent stores!!), it really was a trememendous loss. So, I am beyond thrilled that Housing Works is back on Montague Street (and in a location much closer to my apartment, to my financial detriment!) The newer storefront feels a tad smaller than the old space, but with a similar layout. Clothing and accessories in front, housewares towards the back, with the donations area at the back wall. The selection seemed more thoughtfully curated, if a little thin. Housewares and bric a brac organized and styled aesthetically by color. Clothing styles were mixed and a little on the higher end, but this reflected some items that were newer or with tags. For ladies, there were some gems by Derek Lam, Coach, Rag and Bone, DVF and Theory. Some brand new coach coats with tags for $150. I didn't get anything but I'll definitely check back in periodically.

The staff assured me that the doors would slide properly once the other furniture was lifted. When paying for the piece, the staff did not inform me that a 3% card processing fee applied, and I thought the extra charge was due to the delivery fee. But when the delivery service called to schedule a date, I was surprised to hear that we hadn't paid for delivery yet, and Horseman had tried to sneak the 3% fee in. Worse yet, the doors now keep falling out because the glide pegs have completely broken off -- something that Horseman could have easily fixed, or at least let us know about. I understand that vintage furniture is sold as-is but I can't shake the feeling that Horseman was trying to be clever and disingenuous with the silent credit card fee and the broken door.
