I don't normally review stores, but since I am in here like, at least once a month, I need to. This is the best store in all of Brooklyn (the world?). The owner is great and so pleasant and makes the shopping experience very relaxing. She has a GREAT spread of hilarious, empowering, and useful products. I buy SO many gifts from here. Homebody Boutique, you rule. No really, you are my favorite little store in the slope. I happened upon this little gem on my way from Music Matters heading to Brooklyn Comics down the block, and oh how happy I am that I stopped inside. Similar to an Etsy popup shop in that most of goods here are hand made and perhaps locally produced(?). My love affair with this wonderful little boutique started out innocently enough, a ring here, a coaster set there but now if I don't stop in at least once a month to pick up something my apartment feels plain and flat. My boyfriend bought me a gorgeous ring and bracelet from this store over Christmas. When my delicate bracelet broke, I took it to Homebody Boutique and Kate immediately sent it to the designer who fixed it and sent it back within less than a week. This place is fantastic. I purposefully walk by it when I go home from the Y on 15th because it is also amazing to see what new stuff is in. They always have the most creative and unique stuff and for the second year in a row will be my Christmas go-to. I'm not sure you could pin down their aesthetic, it's sort of arts & crafts meets Tim Burton occasionally, but also a more creative and attractive selection of home decor than say, something like West Elm. The last thing I bought was a candle-stick holder in the shape of a curled tentacle as a gift for my brother, and it is so incredible looking. This is such an adorable store! It has become my go-to spot for greeting cards. There is always a big variety of hilarious cards. Lovin' this newish local business: Homebody Boutique on 7th Ave, between 15th & 16th st. Just wanted to give a 2 thumbs up shout out for a wonderful, struggling, very friendly business w/ awesome merchandise. I don't know the owner and never knew the place existed until today because it's passed where I usually walk. They have housewares, decor, jewelry, etc, many handcrafted and from local artists. The aesthetic of many items are in the vein of Anthropologie (one of my fav. stores). Worth the walk, if you don't live that far south. Love what I bought there & plan to shop there for future gifts. Just a reminder to support great local stores with friendly service (because sometimes I need a reminder to do that instead of ordering things online). read more

I dropped by Homebody Boutique since I live nearby and walk past often. The crazy things inside had intrigued me for a while, so I decided to check it out. The owner was very nice and had good background info on the items I looked at while browsing. While some of the pieces were a bit too much for my design aesthetic, I could see them fitting nicely in others' homes. Lots of things were the perfect combination of funky and attractive. I was especially amused by the book, The Baby is Disappointing, and wished I knew someone who would appreciate it and was expecting. I ended up buying an angry robot mug which makes me smile every time I use it. I'll definitely be back for more as I figure out what else to put in my place! read more

Fun store with a variety of cool and unique items. A great spot to pick up a gift for a friend, and they have a nice selection of cards with a sense of humor to them. I wish I knew someone with a baby, as they had several cute onesies I'd love to give as gifts! This is by far my favorite store in park slope! It has a wide range of items: greeting cards, jewelry, pillows, toilet seats, EVERYTHING! And there is truly something for everyone, with items ranging from the beautiful and delicate to the kooky and bizarre. Case in point, I have bought gifts here for my mother who is conservative and in her 60s, as well as my super artsy, dark-humored friend who's in his 20s.
