This location has been here for a long, long time and seems to be under new management. There's no question, it's a small location for central Richmond and we always hope that they find a way to expand or get into a bigger space. There's always a wait for a table during peak times and weekends. The food is good, dependable quality, and typical breakfast. There are shrinking options in Richmond for good greasy spoon breakfast, so it's good to see this brand surviving. We hope they stay in business (and expand soon!). read more

Oh, my gosh. I didn't realize that I haven't reviewed IHOP before. I've been coming here once every two years or so and it's been consistent for me. Service is prompt. Food is mediocre and they keep this location neat and tidy. The syrups on the side of the table are never super sticky or messy. They have some homemade milkshake with four or five different flavours right now. I didn't get to try it this time but I'll come back again next time to give it a try. read more

Tried Ihop 's Grinch inspired Menu a few days ago and there are only three words to describe it: ONE HOT MESS. It was a super colourful meal and idea but there was something funky happening with their green whip cream because it was bubbling in my hot chocolate like it was alive, and sliding everywhere on anywhere BUT my pancake The pancake with had sweet cream cheese icing, red candy hearts and green whipped cream was a little too sweet for me. I came here with a couple of friends over the past weekend. It was really busy but the hostess managed to get us seated pretty quickly. I must say the service was pretty good! The server was very attentive he kept checking up on us and refill our water. As for the food it was okay. It was typical breakfast food. I got hash browns, 2eggs And sausages. The location is fairly central in Richmond and right across from the mall. There is parking available on site...which is always nice. The room is quite dated....it appears exactly as I recall visiting one with family in the my youth in Florida...yes that is going back a few years. Worst restaurant service ever. So disrespectful and bad. What's going on with today? a bad review had already been posted about your bad service today. Did the workers have a bad day? No need to disrespect and put all your sadness and anger on customers. Also, the restaurant is very dirty. Walls have mold and floors have mud even though it's not raining outside. The windows have food stains and seats are ripped to the point it is very sharp. Do you want your customers skin to be cut? Bet you can't even afford bandages for the customers once they get hurt. What kind of renovation did you put into this restaurant? At least care for your customers a little. Earning money can't only be buying food and go. To be clear, this review is about service and not food. We went to celebrate my birthday as I received a coupon from ihop. After being seated, I presented the coupon and the waitress explained that the ihop location on top is for the West Broadway location and therefore cannot be used in Richmond but she will check with the manager. She returned within a minute and say indeed no, I cannot use it. Two points: (1) I simply signed up for the loyalty program as a regular customer and have assumed that a large chain like ihop will have a uniform policy at all stores, meaning the coupon should be honoured at all locations. I only chose a location when signing up as it asks for my closest location, not my "designated" choice. (2) The manager later joined our conversation with the waitress and explained that as they are a franchise with different owners, they cannot claim a coupon for another location. I then pointed out that the West Broadway has CLOSED down and therefore I had no choice but to visit another location. They still declined it despite my plead. I left quite disappointed that nobody there felt any empathy and simply wanted to protect themselves. The only reason they got 2 stars is because another server was very nice and promptly brought us our coffees, which are now wasted. read more

This location has been around for ages and given the limited amount of pancake places in Richmond, IHOP becomes a default for weekend morning breakfast. This location is central and close to a bus stop. Parking is decent enough as there are rarely too many people here. Service is decent and food is standard IHOP with nothing out of the ordinary. The funnest part is all the seniors that tend to talk to you about how their coffee is bitter. read more

It has been a while since I've come to IHOP (probably more than 5 years) so this place is very nostalgic. My bf and I came on a weekend for brunch and while there were 1-2 groups waiting, we only waited around 5-10 minutes. It seems that they don't seat you until the whole group arrives. My bf and I ordered the same dish on the menu, but with different items: scrambled eggs, sausages, and strawberry banana pancakes, and sunny side eggs, bacon, and double blueberry pancakes. The eggs and meat were pretty standard. The hash was crunchy on the exterior and soft inside though I would've preferred an even crunchier hash. I have yet to track down the perfect hash. The dish could have used some more seasoning. They no longer have condiments on the table, but you can ask your server for ketchup/salt/pepper. What we didn't like was the butter in the hash. I couldn't pinpoint that milky taste in the hash until my bf pointed out it was butter. On another note, my bf is a huge fan of the strawberry/banana combo and he really enjoyed his pancakes. There were chunks of banana inside and portion was quite generous. I enjoyed that my double blueberry pancakes had LOADS of whole blueberries, however, I found the compote a tad thick and too sweet. Everything was going well until I found a small piece of hair in my hash. I hate to be picky and the hair was small (unlike the long piece of hair I found in my food from Opa in Ironwood - that scarred me), but during a time like this I prefer more attention to hygiene. I brought this up to one of the servers and he was prompt to change it for another hash (though the second one wasn't very crispy, but at least there was no hair!). Overall, it was an enjoyable meal. I ordered a quick 2 egg breakfast consisting of only 2 eggs 2 sausages some hash browns and toast. When I went to pay and told my server I was unhappy with how long my food took and he just looked at me and said "we'll yeah sorry we're busy"... extremely unimpressed with the wait, 45 minutes for some eggs is outrageous. I guess they have "great" IHOPs in their hometown but I'd rather go hungry than come back here again! Standard greasy breakfast fare, but much worse quality than Denny's... service was non-enthusiastic and average speed, the parking lot was full leading us to park in the shopping centre across the street, and the food was not good (soggy bacon, so-so pancakes, etc...)
