I stopped by IHOP for breakfast before heading to work and met up with my mom. There was a group of ladies in the lobby, either leaving or waiting for their table. The host greeted us right away before checking available seats. We were seated quickly, which was nice. We waited a few minutes while our server delivered food to her table. She was training a new associate. We ordered the pumpkin pancakes (no butter or whipped cream) to share and each got breakfast potatoes. We also asked for ketchup and warm syrup. To our surprise, the syrup came out served in a mug. Definitely a first. The food was okay, not quite how I remembered IHOP tasting, It hit the spot for a quick breakfast. The food and service were good. Our issue was the bill. The prices on the bill were not the prices on the menu! Of the five things we ordered, two were significantly more expensive on the bill than they were on the menu! The difference amounted to nearly 10% of the bill. It took the manager two tries to correct the bill, but we noticed that the suggested tips remained the same as they were on the original overpriced bill! The manager explained that they were aware of the problem and were trying to fix it. Not good enough! If you are aware of the problem, you need to be checking each bill against your menu prices to make sure you are not ripping off your customers! Very DISHONEST! read more

Best IHOP we've had in a whileeeee, and we got it delivered! Called in to request a modification from pork to turkey breakfast meat and butter pecan syrup; Nazerine was more than happy to ensure that the requests were fulfilled. The manager called shortly thereafter to explain that they had run out of turkey bacon but was able to sub in chicken strips. The food arrived prompt and fresh. Everything was honestly great. my friends and I were greeted with a man and when my friend said how many of us there would be all he said was "yeah" and awkwardly stared at us while grabbing menus so bad to the point I hid behind my friend. He brought us to a nice big booth which would be the last good thing he did. Our waitress was the sweetest, so helpful and apologetic to the to the flat soda (machine apparently broken) and the food taking long. We had good conversations and she brought up the rewards and asked us to sign up and of course we did she was so kind. Once we did (we found out to be the manger desman) was continuing to stare at us and came over to us to confirm we indeed signed up. It was awkward as he sat in the booth next to us messing with his key chain confirming we actually did sign up. It was apparent he did not believe us or the sever. We would continue to talk with our nice sever and be stared at by this man. It was apparent and uncomfortable. Then apparently a man had been sat and she never greeted him when no one at our table saw him be seated or that he was even there. The "manager" talked with him and then (right in front of us and the man) berated her about watching her section when just a minute ago our table was the only table in her section. He hovered over her and it was actually concerning the way he acted like towering over her. We all could hear what he said and we all saw it. Very unprofessional and rude. Once she came back to our table we asked her if she was okay because it was rude and embarrassing for her to be talked down to like that in front of her tables. We ALL noticed the manger still staring at us and once we finished the conversation he pulled her aside to a nearby table (where we all could still see them) and sat with her as he scolded her about her tables. We all could hear and see this happening. After this she was no longer wanting to hold conversation and almost seemed to rush us out. Now I am not blaming her for this, I think the manger ether told her to get us out or she didn't want to be scolded anymore because of us. She was still so sweet and helpful and we still asked her if she was okay. Loved having her as a waitress. Mind you the manger is still staring at us the whole time. We finished and thanked her then left. I work in a restaurant and never have I been berated like that and never in front of customers. Desman was very unprofessional and rude to this young lady and only did what he did ether to please the older people or a power trip. It was disgusting. I don't want to know what else he does when customers can't see him. I greatly hope his manger position is reconsidered (as he is worrying about the wrong things and not the broken soda machine or slow food) and maybe have him downgraded to a bust boy where he doesn't interact with others. I only rate it 2 stars for the waitress and food. The manger totally ruined the atmosphere and experience. Not sure i'll be back with desman as a manger. read more

My family stopped in today for lunch. The place wasn't particularly crowded, yet the whole experience was problematic. The wait for our food was longer than expected (the table next to us arrived after we placed our order but was served before us), our order was incorrect (ordered two vanilla shakes but received a chocolate and a vanilla), asked for water, but never received it and one of our party didn't get her salad until everyone else had finished eating. It was the wrong salad. When the server returned with the 'correct' salad it was obviously the same salad on a smaller plate with the incorrect items removed and replaced with the correct items, except the "fresh" blueberries appeared to have been blueberries from a sauce with the sauce rinsed off. The excuse for the delay was the order had not been saved when he entered it, and he had to reenter it. The server told us this three times while she waited and watched us eat, yet he didn't make the correction until he closed out our check. Our party member left without eating. Would strongly suggest better training for the staff. I don't recommend this location. read more

Oh my God. What happened to Mount Airy, MD IHOP. My family went for dinner on a Wednesday night. Not crowded or busy at all. Okay, the server was very nice but couldn't get the order right. We had very long periods between getting drinks. At one point, I was going to go next door to Weis Market for some drinks. My sons children's meal was free but so small. He is not a big eater but the children's meal should be for a toddler. I have to express the morning service is always been better. The service is spot on and food is great. The family really wanted pancakes so we decided to go to IHOP. We've lived in Mount Airy for 5 years so tonight was the first time we went there, just after our son's 6th grade orientation! Our waiter Austin greeted us and sat us quickly. He was very well mannered during our food order taking even though my daughter kept blurting out about how many pancakes she wanted. Our food arrived on good timing and correctly. He gave our son such great advices on what to expect when getting into middle school and even on to high school. One of his advices has my son wanting to open a bank account to start saving! So no more spending on V BUCKS, it's a miracle!!! I can tell with Austin's personality and attitude he will be something great!!!! Thank you Austin for starting a ripple effect to a younger generation!!! Give that man a raise!!!! Great service, same great IHOP food! My first time at this new location was a pleasant experience! It's gorgeous and clean inside since it is new. The staff was all EXTREMELY friendly! I was so pleasantly surprised. Everyone was so helpful and so nice and attentive. We kinda beat the Sunday morning rush, so we did not have to wait for a booth. It is ok, not great. If this is the only restaurant open, I may go again. Eggs are overcooked, hash browns are the dry side, and pancakes are less than fluffy. Our last visit here, we were the first patrons and I think there was only one guy running the whole place. Whoever is cleaning in the night crew needs to step it up, the floors were slippery - not from water but from a film of grease from someone obviously using dirty water to mop the floors. In general, the entire restaurant had a greasy feel. How is it possible to achieve this level of gross in a fairly new establishment? I was extremely disappointed with my visit. I visited with a friend to catch up, and I suppose they thought we were an interracial couple because our treatment was awful from both staff and customers. I grew up in Mount Airy. I lived here for over ten years before moving to HoCo, and I this is the first time I have encountered racism in the area. The customers sitting behind us loudly talked about how interracial dating was "reprehensible" and that their opinions couldn't be considered racism. I would like to make it infinitely clear that I was meeting my friend and Mount Airy was the halfway point for both of us. My friend and I were clearly put at the bottom of the priority list for our server because seven different tables came, ate, and left before we could even get our food! The restaurant was not busy. There would only be five tables with customers at any given time in the entire restaurant in the hour and a half we were there. My friend and I ordered crepes which took 25 minutes to get to our table! I asked the server for extra plates which she forgot. The only time she offered refills was after we paid the bill and were ready to go. She claimed that it was "a crazy day" but she only had two tables (including ours) in her section. Our table was avoided and we were given nasty looks from customers and the employee clearing the tables. While other tables left within 25-30 minutes of arriving. We left 1.5 hours after arriving. The food was subpar and the foyer smelled like wet dog. I am so disappointed in the service and attitudes of this IHOP. I was treated infinitely better at the sketchy, crime surrounded IHOP near my university in College Park. Honestly, I'm more irritated that the food took a long time to come out rather than the blatant racism. read more

She gives you a big Beautiful smile! She really cares that you have a pleasant experience. She made suggestions, kept my coffee pot full, brought over ketchup, Hot sauce, extra napkins...etc... I ordered the Colorado omelette and side of hash browns w/ coffee. The order was fantastic. The omelette was hot, tasty, and prepared with fresh ingredients. The hash browns were crispy and flavorful. The service was prompt and friendly. This IHOP is a great place to have a reasonably priced breakfast with lots of food for the money. Our waiter delivered our order in one cycle to the kitchen (5minutes). So everything had to be pre-made. Eggs, sausage, pancakes, hash browns. Honestly McDonalds might be fresher. The prices are too low and the demand on the kitchen is too high to support a cooked meal. None the less, if I go out to eat rather than cook myself, I expect something cooked for "Me" even if it's a $7 menu item. So if you do venture here and want something fresh order eggs sunny side up or similar. I don't think they can precook that. read more

Great service and good food. It seems like a small IHOP from the outside but it still seats a lot of people inside. On Saturday and Sunday morning be prepared to wait for a table at least 10 minutes. I've had good food here but have had to send food back because it was the wrong food. When I got my new order it was correct but you could tell that it was suppose to be another pancake and they just scrapped whatever was on it off. Overall it was a good experience and it's a nice place to get some breakfast at. Be careful though if you want extra chick lost chips it's going to cost you an extra $1. Five stars. Best service, best food, best management- at least from my perspective. Been here a few times, management is always there and friendly even though the manager guy looks a little big and scary, but with pretty eyes and he's super polite. Waiters are always nice, and some of them crack jokes with me and I love it. Today, I came with five of my friends. I just got a simple order of cupcake pancakes and our waiter was the cutest guy I'd ever seen. He was all smiles, cracked a few jokes with us, and all was well. We learned his name was Thomas. Well, when the checks came, he looked me in the eye and said "there's no check for you" and I laughed thinking it was a joke, but then five minutes later he comes back and grabs everyone's check. He looks at me again, smiling, "no really, there's no check for you". I just gasped and said thank you, blushing as red as a rose. All my friends were giggling. He didn't even ask for my number or anything. I was embarrassed, but also really touched because that's never happened to little old me before. We paid, and then I didn't even get to say goodbye as we left, he was nowhere to be found. Would've given him my number for sure. Sweetest waiter, attentive, and paid for my meal! I was speechless. The general manager, Samuel, is awesome and really does all he can to make your experience a good one. However the wait staff are lacking. We were billed for a different tables meal and when we told our waitress, Tara, she took the receipt back and said she promised she corrected it. Nope. Next day we were still over charged someone else's bill. I went back and Samuel corrected it and was super helpful but still, I don't want to risk eating someplace the wait staff cannot keep tables correct and "promise" me they fixed it when they don't. read more
