This IHOP is better than the ones in San Jose. The service here is always friendly. I have come here several times with friends and family. Either it's because we went shopping, Golf Land, or bowling. Every time I come here this place is rarely crowded. The food is always spot on for me. Whether it's pancakes or a yummy pot roast sandwich. I recommend eating here for a late night bite after spending money at the attractions Milpitas offers :D read more

HAHAHAHA Came to IHOP after the BEP concert on 4/2 because I was craving crepes and as far as we knew there wasn't any other place open (since we're not in SF)...but sadly, they didn't have the crepe I wanted (again, cuz we're not in SF where I know exactly what I want) so I settled for the apple cinnamon crepe which was pretty good. We stayed pretty long considering all that was ordered was crepes and drinks. Even as the "after-clubbers" started pouring in they still didn't try and rush us out. They continued to ask us if there was anything else we needed and filled drinks when they got low...with the exception of the latte since it needed no refill. I visited this IHOP location today for a farewell breakfast. Our group was about 30 so our experience may differ from your regular visit. The restaurant was clean and well maintained. The staff all did an above average job to make us feel welcome and accommodate our large group. What stood out was there good customer service by being available but not constantly checking in at the table. The food was well plated and tasted good. I ordered the 2x2x2 which is 2 eggs, 2 buttermilk pancakes and 2 bacon slices or pork sausage links. The pancakes where delicious and I will order them again when I come back. Average IHOP quality. Nothing too special or exciting to note. But I like going here better than Denny's because of the lack of truck-driving customers. Not that there's anything wrong with truckers - it's just nice to have a different environment, I guess? I've ordered their blueberry pancakes and strawberry banana pancakes. Both good. Their herbal teas are from a semi-cheap brand which is fine, really. The lemon tea wasn't complainable quality. We came here late at night and it wasn't crowded or busy. The waiter was very friendly and informative about the specials, which was all you can eat pancakes. I got the banana filled pancakes which was very good. It had strawberry and banana toppings but I got that on the side. My bf got the regular breakfast plate and for the price, which was cheap, he got a lot of food. They even gave him a side of free pancakes. Normally I wouldn't review a franchise-ish place like IHOP, and I'm usually not even a fan of breakfast diners! But the service I had was just amazing! This was my 2nd time here in 2 weeks. First time I came on a Wednesday morning, no wait really, just took a bit for the food to come out. They even separated our bill for us into 6 separate checks. I got their summer special which was $8.29 for 3 strips of bacon, 3 sausages, eggs done as I choose, and some hashbrowns. Then there was also funnel cake with my choice of fruit on there. I also got a $1.99 apple juice.. in a dinky cup.. which had no refills, that was a disappointment. I came back 2 weeks later with my mom, we had a buy one get one free coupon if you buy 2 beverages. About $15 for the both of us and then add tax. I ordered the same thing because it was so good and because that offer was actually going away soon. My server Antonio was really great! Props to him, he made me happy and while I was eating I was just like, man! I can't wait to review this place and give Antonio some props! They have some nice bathrooms too, the only thing is I guess it can be crowded if you come at the wrong time, and also it is a bit pricey. But I still like this place! I had dinner here with my wife recently (around 7pm). I didn't have to wait so that was a plus. The food took a little longer to come out, and the side salad that came with my wife's chicken fried steak came out with the meal instead of as a appetizer. My wife had the chicken fried steak and salad while I had a Philly cheese steak. We split a stack of new york cheesecake pancakes. Chicken fried steak was decent, I had no complaints about it. My Philly cheese steak was dry, I'm not getting that again. The pancakes were pretty good since they had bits of cheese cake bites mixed into the pancakes, topped with strawberries and cream. Not the best pancakes I've ever had, but pretty good for being specialty pancakes. The interior was very clean and bright, a good upgrade from the old Lyons and Capitola days (though it feels smaller than before). My server was pretty attentive but you could tell some of the other workers were brand new (the manager was training the cashier/hostess). Would I come back? Yes, but I live two blocks away so I'm a bit biased. I do admit that I DID like Lyons/Capitola when it was there, maybe not the pancakes but the other food was pretty good for me. read more

I had been saying before this place ever moved in that this location would be great for an Ihop. It was by itself and enough space for a stand alone restaurant. The two restaurants before that didn't have a chance. Anyways, I went there a few days ago and realized why I don't really like going there. The tables were greasy, the food took forever to come, and the food gave me an upset stomach. I love breakfast foods, but I don't know why I didn't really enjoy it this time. Even though this place is new, it seemed really dirty to me. Also, the food came out in a pretty simplistic presentation. The food didn't even fill up the dish. If I were to look at it, it would seem like I was getting jipped. The only thing that I like was that they had the calories listed on the menu, but it really did limit what I could order because everything was like over 1000 calories. When it comes to diners like Denny's and IHOP, IHOP will always be my choice because I love pancakes, and I love variety. I mean, once you sit down, you already witness variety with the syrup rack featuring boysenberry, strawberry, blueberry, and old-fashioned syrup. That's wonderful! I've had plenty of good IHOP experiences, but the one at this Calaveras location was my the best. The worst part was being told to wait, but hey, I had ten people in my party and we had no reservation, so that was fine. What made the visit worth it was the impeccable customer service. My waiter was extremely polite, and he never asked any stupid question. Everything he did was out of convenience to my group. Hey owner, if you're reading this, give EMILE a raise. That guy is awesome! I ordered the bone-in ham item, and it was pretty awesome. The sunny side up eggs were cooked to perfection, and the default pancakes that came with it were wonderful. When looking at all of my friends' dishes, it seems that the portion size of hash browns seemed to vary, so that's something they might want to work on. The other thing I love about IHOP is that perfectly divy up meals when needed, so I don't have to worry about having to do things separately. Quite busy on a Sat brunch hour and there was a line outside waiting to be seated. The service was good as the waitress checked in with us quite a few times and I saw the manager came out to serve the customers and made chit chats. I ordered the holiday special: white chocolate chip pancakes with mint sprinkles and a side of bacon/hash browns/and sausage. Overall the pancakes were not bad- not anything mouth watering but not bad. Not a fan of IHOP but if I was craving pancakes or breakfast and wanted to go somewhere cheap I might come here. I actually try to avoid huge chains, but I'm a flexible pup...friends were hungry and here was this place! The food, though it looked nice, was really nothing I can see myself coming over and over again to have. I was hungry, so the amount of food I got was decent. Our service was questionable. Maybe that kind of attitude will work in a casino or a middle-of-nowhere diner, but it seemed a little inappropriate here. My number one choice to go to for breakfast! This never disappoints. I always tend to go before rush hour and before the church rush on Sundays. Went here today and ordered the chicken burger which is supposed to be a buttermilk friend chicken tender on a bun, etc. What a piece of CRAP! I know pictures on the menu don't look like what you actually get but this was so far off it was laughable. Comfort food. Darn good large and juicy burgers. Coffee is absolutely terrible though. This is one thing they have never fixed after many years, their coffee is the absolute worst, it's like drinking instant coffee --- or most of the time hot water. This I don't understand, because coffee goes with breakfast foods. You would think they would serve something acceptable, but nope. This really my only complaint, as I'm a coffee snob, and expect good coffee. If you come here, hit up Peet's coffee first, don't settle for their terrible excuse of hot water they call coffee. I am an avid IHOP lover! If I Could breakfast at IHOP every day I'd be a happy man. This location is my regular spot. The service is generally very good with the occasional so-so visit. The only problem with this location is the wait times on the weekends. For some reason it seems like everyone in the bay area visits this IHOP on Sat and Sun mornings. That being said, the place is very clean and the service makes up for the waits. My food is almost always perfect, but I've had a handful of wtfs hit my plate. Nothing serious.
