Sure, it's just an IHOP. But it's an option pretty much 24/7, you know the brand, and your expectations likely aren't that high. What's not to like? Of course, the food is nothing to write home about, but it's served hot and generally delivered with a friendly face. Payden was a great server and made sure that we had plenty of fresh coffee and checked on us frequently at this visit. IHOP doesn't do all the fancy breakfasts, but if you ask for some modifications or maybe even something off-menu, I bet they'll accommodate you. They do have an avocado toast option for the healthy types, but for those of us just there to eat more than 1000 cal in a breakfast setting, eggs, bacon, and whatever high-carb side you add goes down right. Prices have definitely gone up, as is the case pretty much everywhere. A full-on diner breakfast runs you about $14 now, which is still within range of the value. You're getting a nice comfortable setting, great service, and decent food. Put all those things together and that's probably why their successful brand has been around for as long as it has. read more

It's an IHOP, I've learned to come in with low expectations, especially anytime between 11pm and 5am. This location was exactly what I expected from the franchise. The server kept up with her section with ease. didn't seem like she loved her job but didn't hate being there. The steak omelet was the same as I have gotten from other IHOP's. When I came in two years ago the food had to be taken back a few times before it was cook correctly, so I didn't my expectations weren't high. My hot chocolate wasn't that chocolatey, probably because most of it was on the side, nonetheless it was still good just gotta work on the presentation. My husband ordered the splash berry drink and it was surprisingly very good, great mixture! We decided to share the chicken fajita omelette and ordered 3 pancakes to pair it with. Worst dining experience in Lawrence and sadly after saying how bad the food was we got attitude from the manager. IHOP is basic diner food, it's never amazing but it's at least reliable and you know what you're getting. The last few times at this location have sadly been anything but that. I should know better to order a TBone steak from a chain establishment but my dumb a** did and the result was horrible. We came to IHOP for breakfast on July 4th, 2019. Our server was very in attentive and the worst thing was finding a bug that seems to be an ant in the salt shaker. I'm always leery of eating at IHOP because I've heard stories. When I told our waitress, that there was a bug in our salt shaker, I nicely asked if I could get another one, she told me, "that's just pepper, but okay." That really irritated me, customers always right for one, two I know what I seen and she didn't even look to see what was in it she immediately said it was just a piece of pepper. Literally the worst customer service I've ever seen at a restaurant... I went with my family in the late evening and they were not busy at all, the waitresses were standing around talking. We get our table and our waitress takes a noticeably long time to take our drink order. My mom went to the bathroom shortly after sitting down, came back, and I told her a story before our waitress came to take drink orders if that puts it into perspective. Then the waitress brings only half our food and it is at least 5 minutes before the other half arrives! I ate my Whole hash brown before my pancakes came, still no pancakes.. My family was quite annoyed so my father walked to the kitchen and asked if we could get our pancakes (that were sitting on the counter). Then when we went to pay the manager was there and we asked her why we were charged for avocado when we asked the waitress if my mother could sub it since she is gluten free and they said sure no problem no extra cost. Then at the register the manager says that the waitresses answer was wrong and she wasn't going to take off the upcharge... are you serious?? Then my mother said "that's ridiculous" and the manager told my mother that she "doesn't care and doesn't want to hear her complaining" and so my mom left and my dad gave the waitress $0 tip because it was such a bad experience and the manager LITERALLY RIPPED THE RECEIPT OUT OF HIS HAND AND TORE IT IN HALF. This iHop is just as disappointing as the one in Dodge City, KS. Although, at least the iHop in Dodge City was CLEAN! My mother and I walked into iHop at about 11:20pm because we wanted to grab a drink and snack before I boarded my train at 11:49pm. First off, when we walked in, there was no one in line and the lady at the register told us, "I'll be with you when I can." We looked around and there was no one but a mother and her child on the waiting booth beside the checkout. My mother let her know we were on a time schedule and the lady took us around the corner and offered us an unset, filthy booth. To which, my mother said "No, we'll take this table." and we sat adjacent to the booth. Which, that table was also filthy. I was brushing crumbs and chunks off the table with my sleeve as I settled into my spot. We looked to my menus and they too were filthy. Stained with whatever it was and sticky . . . very disappointing. When the server-lady came over to ask us what we wanted to drink, we both ordered water. As we waited a few moments, the server was standing in the waitress area visiting with another server instead of getting our drinks. My mother and I exchanged a look and she asked, "Should we just go?" It was already 11:30 and my train was to be arriving in less than 20 minutes. I nodded and agreed, very disappointed as we had already been to Applebee's and the Boarder Mexican Grill to find they were both closed 20+ minutes early. But, we weren't about to eat in a filthy restaurant . . . So, I told the server, who was still standing there visiting with another server, to cancel our waters because we were leaving. Ok, I have been to IHOP many times and the service and food can be classified as up or down, considering what day you go, however.we are facing a truly unusual time where our very presence outside of our homes are discouraged, therefore many restaurants, including this one claimed to offer home delivery to the Lawrence area and waive delivery fees. I should have known there was a hidden wizard behind the curtain so to speak. 2 days ago, I called to have meals delivered to my home after placing it inline, only to find out that living 7 miles from the restaurant was out of delivery range by door dash...mind you, you are not informed of this until you've placed your order, so I cancelled it and ordered from another restaurant. This morning I called to order and decided I would do curbside and "Voila"...they say they are open, but no phones are being answered and no orders taken. So now I must venture out to the grocery store to get food and risk my health yet again simply because IHOP cannot or will not live up to a service they promised to provide. If you can't deliver on a promise, simply don't offer it. In a time where many are sick and dying and many are out of work, you would think that those who have been blessed to be a blessing to others would live up to the chance to do so, rather than just remain open to collect a paycheck, but not do the work...just close your doors if catering to the needs of the community is too much for you, we would certainly understand, but being open and not living up to your promise seems to be intentionally lazy and incompetent. ..sorry, but mirrors hurt. read more

She has waited on us many times and makes our dining experience so enjoyable that we always look forward to the next time we come in to see her. our dining experience is also inhanced by the other staff at IHOP too. We are always greeted with smiles from them (like Stacey, the manager, Devin, Carmin as well as the others just to name a few) as well as an expression as if they are always glad to to see a friend come in to see them. But on this day the manager (Carmen) and waitress (MJ) refused to substitute the hash browns for fries on my meal.
