Fantastic place. Kinda hidden. You walk down some stairs. Cool atmosphere. The wings are great. Nashville chicken is delicious. Good drinks and really great service.

So happy we decided to give this place a try on Sunday! The service was friendly and welcoming. The good was very good. We are looking forward to going back soon!

12 wings for their Wednesday special! Very tasty and the ranch was the awesome homemade kind.

Delicious food and great service! The wings were great and the sauce (we had Buffalo) was traditional, yet had some flair. We'll be back!

I got the fried cheese curds to start. These were some of the best I've had. Delicious! I got the mushroom onion burger (with no onions, so it was more of a mushroom swiss. It is coated in a garlic buttermilk sauce that overpowers the rest of the burger. Next time I'll ask for that on the side. The burger was cooked well, and the fries were irresistible! I ordered a Cobb that came with no blue cheese, which our server recognized immediately. She brought out a side of cheese which was very nice. It came in HUGE chunks which was wonky but I broke them up and it was okay. In my first bite I tasted rotten egg. When I mentioned it to my friend she said she could smell rotten egg. I hardly ever complain about food or send something back, but this egg was clearly past its prime. Our server (she was awesome btw) took care of the situation and got me a new salad in no time. This time, the lettuce was wet. Really really wet. I love that they wash the lettuce for salads at Bar West but wet lettuce is just unappealing. We will be back but definitely will avoid the salad from now on. Sadly I left hungry. Again, awesome server though!

Tay's makes one of the best burgers in KC. They promote the quality of ingredients they use, and I…read morethink it shows in the food they bring to the table. The things I like most about Tay's include: the fries, sriracha ketchup, a fun car for kids meals, and of course the burger with all of the available toppings to choose from. I ordered a single with fries. My wife and I decided that we'll probably share next time. We might even get the slider with fries. My son loved the car his burger was served in. The ladies working were so friendly and worked quickly through the long line to get orders placed. We didn't have any issues finding a table to sit. They have plenty of high chairs and booster seats for kids too.

So the food... that's why we really came here. So many people hyped Tay's Burger Shack up that I think it made me set my expectations really high. I tried the Single Cheeseburger with fries, I will say that I didn't find it very special. My least favorite part was the buns, they didn't seem like they were toasted at all. Just your typical old cheeseburger. The fries were not my favorite. It does make a cute date night and maybe late night snack.

We also went with the ONION RING TOWER which consists of onion rings served with ranch or Cajun horseradish dipping sauce. The Cajun is the way to go. Next we the wings, which have a wide variety of sauce options, we went with, MANGO HABANERO which is a very Tangy-sweet with a habanero heat, and the HELL'S FURY which is enough ghost peppers to blow your top. Flaming hot to say the least and not for the faint of heart. I selected the JALAPEÑO CREAM CHEESE Burger, which is a prime Wagyu beef patty topped with jalapeño cream cheese spread, peppered bacon, and pepper jack cheese on a brioche bun. It was moist cooked just right with a light sear. Perfection. My wife opted for the SICKIES BURGER which is a burger topped with Peppered bacon, fried egg, pulled pork, BBQ sauce, and American cheese, topped with onion rings and a splash of hot sauce. We conclude with one of their shakes, and they have several options to choose from, Banana, Butterscotch, Chocolate, Coffee, Oreo®, Raspberry, Strawberry, and Vanilla. I went with the Raspberry and my wife sent with the Oreo. Both were very filling. The staff is very accommodating and attentive that matched with a 1950s dinner vibe, it is a relaxing welcoming environment and this both enjoyable and comfortable. If you are thur the area you are sure to come away full. Highly recommend this place, it will not disappoint.

The TL/DR: Believe the hype on the overall…read more The more granular? Get a double patty, because they're smashburgers and they're fairly, uh, smashed. But when you add the standard fixins', then it makes for a good-sized sammich. But still, go for more than one patty. The 'Snack Attack' is their featured special, which is a burg & fries for a reasonable price. The double runs you a bit over $11 but it's a great value. The burgers are freshly made, they're seasoned well, and they're done right. But if you're a French fry type, like moi, then these are a don't-miss. Snack Shack on Johnson does their fries skin-on in beef tallow and the crispiness and flavor come barreling right through. Sensational side or even just on their own. One downside: ketchup isn't on the tables, just mustard, so you might need to request extra on the condiment. Yeah, but that hype. The burgers are good, not amazing. The fries, as previously mentioned, are legit fantastic. You're eating good for less than $15 in a throwback spot with a throwback approach, so that's also a win. The knock might be the organization, as it's just one register and the space is small enough that the 'line' is generally just a small crowd. Toss in some nostalgic photos and other yesteryear looks and this place is pretty close to the diner where Marty McFly first met his future dad. That image ought to cover any photo evidence. Parking is easy and pricing is competitive (have you seen fast food prices? Oy veh...) and the vibe matches the look. Definitely worth a stop, but don't tarry about when you have those fries, because they are a must-eat-when-hot experience. Last pro tip: Snack Shack does $1 ice cream cones 3-5 Monday through Friday as a 'happy hour', and yeah, those cones are worthy of being on a happy hour menu.
