    Wyld About Waffles!!
    Bill M.

Alotta Squares Run in Circles, I Call'em Waffles!! and there's no better place to grab some really delicious Waffles than at IHOP although this particular one isn't excactly the best this chain has to offer I will say that my Belgium Waffle was by far the star of the show. Impressed as I was I decided I'm "Officially" starting a petition to get IHOP's name changed to IHOW and I won't stop until I get it done. No matter what, I'm determined to start calling this place the International House Of Waffles and I'm getting it done. At any rate IHOW is now a thing people. I mean, don't make me have to explain how Waffles hold Butter and Syrup much more effectively than Pancakes do. Not to mention Whip Cream, Blueberries, Nutella, Strawberrys, Nuts, and Bananas all stay on top of Waffles so much better than on Pancakes, and it's not even debatable. So why IHOP gotta be all IHOP and not IHOW?   It's like some kinda weird Waffle conspiracy if you ask me. And I'm just the right guy who's gonna get to the bottom of this or get Full trying. Now you don't have to go thanking me or nothing, I'm just doing what any Red Blooded Syrup Loving American would do.   It's IHOW from now on and as far as I'm concerned it's always gonna be, because HOW I'm Wyld About Waffles!! Come And Get Your Munch On!!

So who hasn't been going to IHOP for years and loves it? It's an American classic. That said, this location in Roxbury has never been a favorite. The food is fine which is why I'm giving 3 stars. The problem is the service.... slow and unfriendly. Once you're seated, they should at least come over and ask about drinks, not here though. Oh well, the pancakes are great!

Visited this location many times in the past. Today I decided to visit it today for breakfast and boy has the place. The restaurant was clean and modern and the greeter and waitress were polite. My problem is with whoever is cooking the food. I ordered the breakfast sampler with two extra sausage links. Whoever prepares the meals should know that any type of pork should be prepared well done. Theses pork sausage links were served under cooked looked grey and where soft, I had to request them sent back to the kitchen to let them cook longer and brown them up. I ordered shell eggs scrambled soft, yet they were received fried hard with brown on them. My fiancée's turkey bacon appeared to be slabs of leather. They need a cook that will take the time to prepare the meals right to avoid anyone getting sick. Not to be funny nor disrespectful, it appears that management have chosen to hire only people of Mexican decent to work there now, when in the past there were employees of all races. The owner needs to have a talk with management on their hiring decisions and observe their performance on preparing the meals. To sum it all up, this place sucks now

    The emptiness of this restaurant!

This place was off the charts bad! I should have known when i walked in. There were a total of about 5 people in here eating. I ordered a burger. Didn't get what i asked for to begin with. The burger i got was disgusting. It had this huge thick heel of an onion on top. Luckily i found that immediately. Check out the picture. Waitress never came back to me once! I needed a napkin and a drink refill, but never saw her again till she brought my check. Needless to say, no tip for her, and i will NEVER go back again. Save your time and money and never go here!

    Cracked plastic ketchup cap

I was hesitant to eat here based on the reviews. Everything in this establishment was dirty and old. The staff were attentive and friendly but the place was disgusting. Every clear booth divider has food, and finger prints on it. My son was given a ketchup container with a cracked pal tic cap which he tried to eat. It took 28 minutes to make one breakfast, which was cold when it arrived. I would not recommend this place unless it was your last resort.

Our waitress Manuela was a sweetheart. We could clearly tell she was not a native English speaker. But she tried her best to communicate with us and that is all we are thankful for. We got our food and it wasn't the best but it's okay because there's no need to fret on the past.

    Hash Browns

This is the second time this happened, I guess it's the new normal. My hash browns are black, my Belgian waffle seems to resemble a soggy pancake. My daughter also ordered hash browns they too were black. The last time I went in person back in March before the Covid-19. I ordered a waffle. It was soggy so I asked if they could cook it a little more. I then received the a waffle that was as hard as a rock. I'm done with this IHOP.

I avoid IHOP simply because I like syrup on my pancakes not all over the table, chairs, floor, utensils and any other gravity defying surface you can imagine. Upon the insistence of an 11 year old relative (who may not see 12) we went to IHOP. My first pleasant surprise came when I walked through the entrance and didn't immediately become glued to the floor. In fact, I didn't get stuck to the floor once. IHOP has cleaned up or renovated this location so it doesn't look like a 1970's import. After sitting down and still not sticking to anything, we perused the menus. I thought the prices were a bit higher than local diners for equivalent breakfast dishes. I ordered their breakfast dish of 2 sausages, 2 eggs, hash browns and 2 pancakes. Good, I thought, they wrote pancakes, not short stack or small pancakes. This was 10 dollars and coffee was additional. Waitress was pretty good but, somewhat perfunctory and not as attentive as expected. Coffee was an indescribably low average but, it seemed to have caffeine ! Only complaint was that refills didn't come early or often. The meals came out and my dish, which I thought would be a large offering was two small eggs; 2 thick sausage links, burnt on one side, that tasted like hot dogs; home fries that were so tough that I cold not cut through the fried outside but mushy potatoes and grease oozed out from the center; and two small pancakes. Each pancake was smaller in diameter than the length of a fork. Worse than the small size was the fact that this is a pancake house so these should be great. No such luck. Now, while waiting and while eating, there apparently was no management present. The full wait staff congregated towards the rear and near the kitchen entrance which was wide open. It was social time. The loud talking and shouting was annoying and disturbing. In addition to the noise, it was what was being shouted. Someone was shouting "Maricon" ( faggot in Spanish) and other delightful words at someone else in the kitchen. No one had the presence of mind to stop the shouting and cursing. Using that word in Spanish will certainly start a fight. Add all this up and it was an expensive $70.00 breakfast for 3 adults and one 11 year old who learned a new Spanish word at IHOP.

The chicken wings had a good crisp, the side salad I asked for was fresh, the cheese steak roll was pillowy soft and was nicely cheesy, and most importantly, the gentleman behind the bar who took our order was a fantastically nice guy The cons. The garlic parm sauce on the wings were a bit lacking and the amount of meat on the cheese steak was only half enough to really fill that long roll. And the most irksome thing was the 2,23 % "technology fee". No offense but WTH is that?????? If it was to use the credit card, it wasn't explained at all. Looks like maybe it was a barn or blacksmith type place, but also looks like during the summer it has a nice patio seating area. Inside, it's a nice big bar when you walk in and a smaller dining room off to the side. The ding room is nice. Tables and chair a bit tight, but nothing bad. Decorated nicely with what seem to be originals from maybe a local artist. Another area I rarely break tradition with is cocktails. I don't stray far but the cocktail menu was really impressive and creative so I decided to try a "Mango Bajito" which was really, really good. We all tried each other drinks and they were all unique and delicious. The menu is interesting. A kind of Latino-Italian mix - things like Chicken Piccata, Mushroom Ravioli (outstanding), Shrimp or steak over guac and tostones, garlic shrimp, etc. Everything was really, really fresh and delicious. The sauces were flavorful without being overbearing. We were there on a Saturday night and they had music after 930 pm (DJ that night) and it was good - not too loud, but entertaining. Seemed like a mellow crowd and there were people dancing as we left, but I wouldn't call it a "clublike" atmosphere (I'm old, so that was good, LOL). Throughout the meal, I believe she was one of the owners, came to our table to check in on us, chat - and she was very nice, and appreciative that we came. To me it was worth the drive across the board. Food, ambiance, service, friendliness and importantly, uniqueness - there are a million Italian restaurants in New Jersey - some good, some great. There are a ton of Latino restaurants too - all with their own cultural flavors - also some good and some great. One11 Bar and Kitchen was great because it had a unique combination AND it was executed well. I'd recommend it.

Forget the single burger if you're a hungry guy, you'll without question need two of them. So you go with the double patty burger, and that's hovering around $10. Mind you folks, this is fast food!! It's a very tasty burger, I believe their motif is fresh and never frozen beef. And it tastes just as such, but $10 before fries? Ahh, the fries...a tad over-seasoned so I feel you have to request no or minimal salt. They also get extremely soggy in the bag as served, perhaps they should drain on paper towels before serving? Not sure, I'm not an expert in food prep but they barely make it home without being a drenched mess. While waiting, one can help themselves to in-shell peanuts and that's a nice touch. Also on the sodium-rich side, these little buggers will have you buying one of their large soft drinks in a hurry. Ahhh, give away a few cents worth of peanuts in exchange for selling more extra large sodas? Genius!! I would love to see that double burger come in at $6.99 or so...I feel that's the price point that doesn't want me to just hit one of my favorite taverns for their $12 burger with fries. But, Five Guys is close, it's consistent as heck, and the family loves it...so we'll be back. This would be five stars at better price point, but I have to rate the entire dining experience including financial commitment. If my entire family wants this treat, I'm in for well over $50 for fast food without a lot of extras.
