We stopped at Cracker Barrel in Mount Arlington, New Jersey Which is one of our favorite breakfast restaurants and we had a delicious breakfast. Food was hot great and the atmosphere was great and Monica our server was phenomenal.

Review specific to this location/experience: - Same familiar layout and decor as all Cracker Barrel Old Country Stores: market place with home goods, toys and clothing in the front; restaurant/dining area towards the back on the left; signature CB rocking chairs and giant checker boards line the exterior of the establishment - No wait for our party of 4 on a Saturday evening around 5:30p: we think this is early, but more than half the restaurant was already full with even earlier patrons! - Service was swift: waitress seemed a bit overwhelmed with the amount of tables she was tending to but she got us everything we ordered/asked for quickly and accurately! - Food quality is consistent with all of our prior experiences: kid's tenders always surprises us with its crispy exterior, and tender, moist and flavorful interior! - Consistent 3 stars for food; 4 stars for service this time around

This is meant to be a fast casual restaurant with a southern-style menu and classic American charm, serving up breakfast favorites and simple American staples. While the aesthetic and menu are on theme, please do not have unrealistic expectations of this dining experience. We came on a Friday afternoon and while we were seated in under 10 mins, the wait time for the food was closer to 30 mins. The table service was minimal and we had to intentionally flag down our waiter to request things like refills. I don't necessarily blame the wait staff since it seems this establishment's system of service/bussing is clearly not sustainable. Other reviews mention multiple nearby tables remaining vacant and unbussed for over 20 mins, and unfortunately that was our experience as well. There were only a few wait staff for the entire restaurant and they each did all the work. The food itself was really standard fare-- not particularly flavorful or seasoned, but you do get what you pay for. I did enjoy the eggs and pancakes, and the hash brown casserole was nice and cheesy. The biscuits and corn muffins were very bland and basic. Everything else was just alright. If you are not in a rush, like the idea of unlimited refills on basic beverages and enjoy this style of food, this could be a budget choice for simple dining, and you get the bonus of exploring the nostalgic and quirky store. This is like a Denny's or Applebee's level of restaurant, but slightly lower.

Went for breakfast this morning at 7:00 am and had some very good food and atmosphere. The real hearth was burning when we walked in and the service was quick and friendly. I had the Good Morning breakfast with scrambled eggs, turkey sausage sliced tomatoes, grits and fresh fruit cup. My wife had the baked pecan stuffed French toast. My breakfast was healthy until i added some pecan syrup to my grits which made them wonderful. I just wish the coffee and tea weren't so expensive . A cup of coffee was $3.50 and a cup of tea was $3.20.

Final bill, 45 minute delay, food order was incomplete and they still take customers?

For starters today 8/12, Ihappen to be heading across P.A via route 80 east to Long Island. Already there was a big accident on exit 19 on the 80 east that affected all but one lane. I made it thru, thinking i be fine to stop at Cracker Barrel store on exit 30. Boy was i wrong, should have seen it coming. I walked in to get a table 1:20pm, 12 minute wait, seemed reasonable. I noticed the restrooms were messy, overflowing towels on the floor and a stench of death for men and ladies restrooms. My family and I, decided to overlook it. Eventually we get a table, we realized tables are empty and dirty dishes were behind. We were seated between 2 dirty tables during the entire meal. At about 137pm, waitress came by took order. Water and coffee for the table arrived 15 mins later, waitress was missing 1 beverage order. Finally at 2pm, food arrived for 2 of the 3 people at my table. Finally my beverage arrived as well. 2:08, tne last order arrived. Completely unorganized serviced. While i get it the store does not have enough staff, a manager could have came over and apologized for the delay and the lack of service. At no point did anyone come over. I waa upset, my waitress was flustered, she was trying to engage but honestly she was the only person working on that side of the restaurant. Nobody helping her to deliver food or beverage. I went to counter to complain about the horrible service and lack of. I was told they had sick calls, so why continue to take tables when you literally have a minimum of 45 to 60 minute delay. Lady at cashier, stated the did not have enough staff. For sure wont be coming back for lunch, disengaged staff, no manager around and they dont care about the customer, or the quality of service.

Oooooweee! This was my first time to a Cracker Barrel and let me tell you... it will NOT BE MY LAST! Let's keep it 100% the wait was 40 minutes but I didn't know about putting your name on a waitlist online and we went on a Saturday morning! So we waited in the car. First off the breakfast items are very affordable! I didn't care to walk thru the crowded store but I understand that's just the layout. The theme of the restaurant is cute...and our server was fast and friendly! Now THE PANCAKES!!!! ARE AMAZING!!! Actually every single thing on my plate was delicious! I was sad that the hot chocolate machine was down so I settled for a peach ice tea and that was yummy! Needless to say, I will be back for breakfast. I heard from too many people that the regular food isn't that good. So I'll stick to what was yummy.

    Southern Fried Chicken

I ordered the 4 piece Southern fried chicken with mac and cheese and hash brown casserole. The chicken could have been taken out of the fryer sooner. It was ok, but it was over fried to my liking. The two side orders were delicious. And their biscuits were soft and not like a hockey puck. We also had the Momma's French Toast breakfast with eggs and sausages. The French toast were delicious! Service was ok. Took a lot longer for us to be seen because of the server tending to a family of 5. Overall this is a good place to go.

    falling apart

Sunday, November 9, 2025, at approximately 3:30 PM. As a customer of over ten years, I have noticed a concerning decline in quality, but this visit was unacceptable. The food was virtually inedible. I received cold eggs, "cardboard" texture bacon, poor-looking grits, and fries that appeared to have been sitting in cold grease. The steak was poorly prepared--it looked pieced together and improperly cooked (grilled on the outside but not truly "well done," as requested). We waited over 30 minutes to be seated, and an additional 45-minute wait for the food to arrive. The manager I spoke with offered no explanation or apology for the significant issues, simply stating, "Thank you for letting me know." This dismissive response to a very poor dining experience was embarrassing and unacceptable. I was unable to eat the meal after a substantial wait, leaving me to reimburse my husband bc he wanted to eat elsewhere, and I said no. I owe my grandson another dinner date to make up for this. I owe a special thank you to our waitress, who was understanding and highly apologetic--she was the only positive thing. Based on this experience and the lack of corrective action by management, I will not be returning and sincerely urge Cracker Barrel to address the substantial issues in food quality and operational management at this location. I have documented this experience with photographs. I should of taken more pics. **not sure why Yelp won't load pics**

I love Cracker Barrel! Always such great childhood memories when I come. I used to come and play the games at the table & always loved getting a cool toy in the store. So happy I am able to do the same with my son now! Came with my mom, SIL, nephew & son. The waitress was very pleasant. I became a reward member so we received free beniegts / soo good! I ordered the old timers Bfast - 2 eggs, sausage and hash. Their hash is just perfect! Next time I'll get bacon because I'm not a fan of smoked sausage. My son loved his pancakes & lemonade. As always - will be back!

Called the restaurant to see how I would go about getting a refund for an item not delivered with my order. Person who answered put me on hold for a manager. After about 12 minutes another person came on and said they would get the manager because neither person could tell me how I could get a refund. Stayed on hold for over 30 minutes with no assistance. Usually take visiting family to Cracker Barrel for breakfast. Will not be visiting this Cracker Barrel or any other. Could have simply taken my number down for a call back.

There is a full bar which is huge and can make any drink you wish. They have some excellent specialty cocktails. We ordered the guacamole and chips before ordering delicious entrees. We also got the corn and split it so we had room for dinner. I had the rib eye special with a chimichurri sauce, spinach mashed potatoes, and veggies. The steak was perfectly medium rare and the sauce was perfection. I never had spinach mash before but felt good about getting some extra iron in my carbs. I didn't love the zucchini, (weird taste) but the other veggies were fine. My friend picked the burger and fries to satisfy their beef craving. The fries were crispy and perfect while my friend said her burger was excellent. Other friend went for the salmon and veggies, she enjoyed it and had to bring some home because it was a big serving. Last friend got the chicken rice bowl special and opted for grilled chicken instead of fried. They were super accommodating about making changes so we had exactly what we wanted. Again, big portion so she is excited to have lunch tomorrow. The music is very lively and the service is excellent. Be sure to stop in but do make reservations. We decided to grab dessert and had the lemon raspberry cake plus some of the homemade sorbet. One cappuccino and a cup of tea made us all happy and we enjoyed a nice leisurely meal. My friends had not been here before and we all plan on coming back soon. There was valet parking, so be aware and bring some cash for tips if you are so inclined.

Sadly it appears this place has turned into a weeknight hub for narcotics and worse. Weekday nightlife here appears to be a criminal in nature. This isn't an embellishment, its activity our group has witnessed multiple times during a weeknight at the bar. We chatted with one of the locals here who advised she hosts online live view sites for pay and hinted she "befriends" men here. Many occasions we have witnessed ladies sitting all alone at bar, random guys approaches and after a short chat they appear to leave together. While none if this appears to be illegal, it's shady. The bathrooms are being used as open air drug markets. I have personally witnessed the physical exchange of baggies over stall doors, followed immediately by the audible use (snort) of the substances. Really? Weekends the place is packed all day/night with families and regular folks, its the slow weeknights that brings the shady characters out of the woodwork.
