This IHOP has had it's share of shabby management issues and mornings of slow service, but I've been more than satisfied with the snappy, caring service and tasty food found around 8 PM on a weeknight. I'd strongly recommend going during off hours to get the best out of your experience. My breakfasts have been correctly cooked to order and my drinks refilled promptly on 4 separate (all off-hours) dining experiences within the last year. I've been here twice. Everything was as ordered both times. Food delivery was a bit slow the second time but there were 10 of us. The only problem was they split the tickets up for the table and one half of the table was left to stare at the other half for 15 minutes while we ate and they waited on food. I typically gravitate towards those one of a kind places, which this isn't it, but if you want a breakfast without all the fanfare this fits the bill. Upon walking in the door we had to wait. Not for very long, only a few moments until someone who looked like a manager came to take us to our table. The first thing I noticed was that the manager who seated us, much like everyone else who seemed to be working last night HATED his life at IHOP. When the manager got us to our table he excused himself I assumed to let a server know they had a new table. He returned and took our drink order which was three waters and a sweet tea. Obviously you can't screw up water, however the tea was terrible. I had to exchange it for coffee. After browsing the menu for what felt like an eternity our server Sharon H. Arrived. Now this waitress was a real piece of work. No smiles, no introductions, no "Hey guys! Welcome to IHOP can I get you started with some hot chocolate and an appetizer?" or "How are you guys doing tonight? Are you ready to order?". Just "Are you ready yet or do you need time?". I couldn't help but notice that Sharon seemed disheveled her uniform was dirty and not akin to the rest of the front of house uniforms I had seen so far last night. Perhaps this should have been foreshadowing of things to come. The wrinkles in her 3 sizes too big un-tucked T-shirt some strange testament to the quality of the night ahead. Or at least a warning that she doesn't care about her appearance or her job so why should she care about our customer experience? Finally we have our drinks and orders placed. Or should I say we had our drinks, a while ago. "Where the hell is our waitress?" I hear my girlfriend ask. I scan the near empty IHOP. I see a chubby blonde waitress working her multiple tables across the room. I see a few bus boys and kitchen staff meandering around behind a partitioned wall. I don't see Sharon. All I see are other people and 4 empty tiny glasses that once held the water and horrible tea that I wouldn't have finished if I was able to get something else. **Crickets** "I guess she is off somewhere trying to get herself fired." I reply. Finally after another 20 minutes without seeing a soul with empty glasses abound our food arrives. Who is this carrying it? OMG it's Sharon H. She has survived whatever terrible fate we feared must have befallen her. So now we know she is just fucking lazy and not going to take care of our party of four anymore than what she has to to remain employed. Finally we get a single refill of drinks, and a few minutes later a check. We started discussing a tip for our "server" (I use the term extremely loosely). A former food service worker myself I have lived off of tips and did quite well at it. Even I didn't feel that her efforts reflected a monetary tip I wanted to leave her a note with the reasons she was going to loose money on our table. However my girlfriend's brother said he felt we had to leave her something so we figured 7% was far more than generous. He left her 2 dollars .. in quarters .. in a frowny face plus a small tip on the credit card gratuity to make around 5 dollars in tips. The waitress we had not seen all night was very quick to check her tables to collect her tips. She followed us out to the parking lot in an attempt to return her hard earned money to us and to let us know how ungrateful she was that we decided to tip her lousy service to begin with. In short I would never visit this location again. EVER. I wouldn't piss on the building if it were on fire. UPDATE!! After talking to the corporate office we received a call from the franchise manager. He said he was horrified that something like this took place at one of his locations and assured us our next visit would be better. He also gave us gift certificates for free meals should we ever decide to return. Because of the swift and decisive nature management chose to handle this I have added a star to the review. read more

It is rare that I will give a chain restaurant 4 stars, but we had such amazing service that this IHOP fully deserves four stars. When we got to IHOP we were greeted and seated right away. The hostess originally sat us at a table where the sun was shining right in the eyes of the unlucky side of the table. Luckily, they had no problem with us relocating to another table. I had the chocolate chip pancakes because if you are going to go to IHOP, you have to get pancakes. The pancakes were good and the fact you can get them as buttermilk pancakes now is a nice touch. The coffee was a little bitter but decent overall. And there are unlimited refills for the coffee, which is even better. As I mentioned before, we had amazing service. Erik did an incredible job and was even better than some waiters I've had at pricey formal restaurants. He is incredibly upbeat and friendly, and you can tell he truly enjoys his job. Our table had coffee going the entire time we were there, and since 2 out of the 3 of us are extreme coffee drinkers, it was impressive that our cups were rarely empty. The kitchen was fairly quick to get our orders out although the eggs for our party were not made like they were ordered. However, Erik noticed before we could even say anything and got more eggs cooked the way they were ordered. He checked on us consistently but not enough that it became annoying. The problem is the service. They are so slow and incompetent. We had to wait forever and then they said they lost our ticket, and we had to order again. So, you wait for coffee. Then you wait for creamer. Then you wait for your order. Then you complain and they give you an excuse that they only have 3 cooks there. So, unless you want to spend an hour and 45 minutes waiting for your order, go somewhere else. And then when the order comes, they do not get it right. So I been craving ihop for some time now , and I finally went today . First I sat there for like 15 minutes before the waitress even acknowledged the fact that I was even sitting here . She then came and asked if she could take my drink order at this I had I had been waiting for about 20-25 minutes . Then I order my food and it takes 30 more minutes to come . And when is did it was disgusting!!! She same and dropped off my food and walked away before I could ask for syrup and butter , but I also never got any utensils either . She never once came to check on me I had to ask 3 times for a refill . She just came back to my table with out the refill but asked if I needed anything else . Lol this is a horrible joke I work hard for my money and I refuse to eat here again with this type of service . Jennifer was my waitress if this is how you guys train your employees to handle customers that are paying for a good meal then you guys need to be shut down immediately . I placed a to go order online, to pick up before work. The website said my order would be ready at 9:51am. I got there at 9:54am and was told it would be a few more minutes, they were not that busy. I waited about 15min and finally asked the hostess to please check on my on my order, something I guess she didn't bother to do until I asked because she came right back with it. I was already late for work, since they didn't have it ready and never checked on it until asked to do so. Since I was already in trouble for being late, I didn't have time to check the order. When I got to work, I noticed my Biscuit and Gravy, was missing the gravy, the sausage links that it comes with weren't there and the hash browns were undercooked. The steak tips and eggs I ordered were missing the pancakes it comes with and the hash browns We're under cooked. I know everyone makes mistakes but this is ridiculous, they pretty much screwed up on every single aspect of my order. read more

Tucked in between the $3 car wash and the Country Inn and Suites on Highway 153, just before the exit to Dupont Parkway, IHOP never disappoints. Service tends to be good or better, and the kitchen generally gets your food out quickly. IHOP runs a "kids eat free" promotion during dinnertime for generally a month at a time, and we try to take advantage of this promotion to have pancakes for dinner. When I was younger my entire family would load up and head over to this particular ihop. It was always a pleasant experience and the waiters/waitresses would be very attentive and friendly. However, things have changed since then.... When my family came this time, we had very terrible service. The waitresses on the floor all smelt terrible and one was wearing a huge jacket loaded with a smell. That particular waitress was at another table and from what I witnessed, they were not recovering good service either but I won't get into that. Our particular waitress was slow to take our order. She was slow to bring it out and it was ALL cold. My burger was very dry. They never brought us our silverware so we had to search for another table with some. We asked for condiments and it took her well over 30 minutes to bring them. Our waitress never refilled our drinks. One of the syrup holders broke off into my cousin's pancakes and that was unsanitary to eat so we alerted the waitress when she FINALLY came to the table. She didn't apologize or take the pancake or the broker syrup holder. She just said "ok" and left it there at the table. We never received new pancakes. We finally asked for a manager but he didn't seem to care either but I handed him the plate to make sure he would actually take it. I was charged extra for things I didn't order. I would also like to state that I am a manager and I would never let my establishment run like this. I will not be back and I do not suggest others should go either. The last two times i went to this ihop, they completely messed up BOTH of my orders. There was STRAWBERRIES in my BURGER, and not just one . The lady did not let us get a refund, she said it was impossible but i've gotten refunds there before. We told her multiple times we couldn't wait for the sandwich because we had to leave. We eat here about 6 times a month - sounds like a lot, but trust me, in Hixson you have very few options. The server is excellent, the food is OK, but the facility needs serious upgrades. The exterior doors are really hard to open, the place has no heat - don't sit next to a window! The seat cushions are lumpy, and please - turn off the music. After getting a water, placing my order (an omelet and grits) and washing my hands, I enjoyed using the free Wi-Fi by reading a few articles from the news. After 18 minutes I asked a server for my waitress. She told me my food would be out soon. After another 12 minutes and no food, I had to leave. I was on my break from work and from the time I arrived until I left it was about 40 minutes. I never got my food, only one glass of water, no manager came to the table and on the way out the door my waitress gave me an "I'm sorry". My kids were so excited to have The Grinch pancakes, so my husband and I took them over their school break. It definitely wasn't our first choice, but we thought it would be fun. We drove to the Brainerd Rd. location first but after seeing so much trash all over the parking lot and landscaping, we took it as a sign and kept driving to Hixson. That was a $38 mistake. Our server was nice enough, but that is where the positive stops. First, they were out of the green Grinch whipped cream for hot chocolate. No biggie. BUT we sat and watched other servers pipe it standing in the galley then serving it to tables. At about the 20 minute mark, I was asked if I'd like fries with my BLT because they were out of onion rings. Hmm ok. After waiting another 10 minutes, our food came. My son was given a cupcake pancake instead because the kitchen was out of grinch pancakes. Thankfully, they didn't charge us for those. He did not like them anyway. I found a hair on my plate (server's hair was not pulled back) and my daughter found egg shell in her pancakes. My sandwich was dry and had no mayo as indicated on the menu. It was very slow this morning, probably 8-10 people in the whole restaurant. I give this place three stars because of the service (or lack of). Our waitress (I want to say her name is Latasha?) was mediocre at best. The food is what it is. It's a chain restaurant and you get what you expect. It was a Saturday morning so it was a little busy (not swamped with lines or anything but most tables were occupied). We ordered and waited for a considerable amount of time before the food came out. So...am I upset that it was busy and the food took a long time? Not at all. Should the waitress have checked in, perhaps give some refills on the coffee, said "sorry guys, it'll be out soon?" Yes, that would have made everything just fine. The last two weeks we place our order and people who come in after us get their order first. I have never ate at a place who loses 5 guy order. The other customer in the restaurant made comments about us not getting our order. I guess IHOP doesn't care about their customer . The 5 guy that where with me will not be going back.
