We came to this location after going to Union City first and saw a long line even at 10pm! I wasn't expecting too much from this place when upon entering the lady told us to hurry with our order because they were closing early. It's fine she warned us, but that doesn't give you a pass to give us subpar service. I also should've chosen the soup instead of the salad because there were several pieces of the spring mix that had that dark slimy substance stuck on it. You know what I'm talking about. When you buy that huge container of salad telling yourself you're going to eat healthy, but for a week you eat spam and rice or ice cream straight from the carton instead. By the time you decide to make a salad there's that slime on the bottom, reminding you that you failed to be a healthy human. Hey, you tried. But then, there's that trusty container of spam that won't judge you or ever go bad like that salad. I digress. I tried eating around the salad, but my stomach turned thinking about that slime. My guy ordered his breakfast with sausage. He got bacon and reminded the lady about the sausage. He never got it. Why do waitress insist on not writing things down??? I called in at 10pm last week to make a simple order of chicken and waffles. I get there to pick up and it was pretty busy. The person who rung me up was in distress and started to rant that it's so busy and there's only 2 cooks and that she wasn't answering anymore phone orders.. just as the phone rang she put the volume down.. that made me think "what if that was me 30 min ago" anyways aside from that I open up my order and it was burned up chicken! Honestly big chain restaurants loose the quality and service because sometimes they get too comfortable and they need to remember that customer referral and experience is what brings customers back. I've had my fair share of bad experience at IHOP but I've also can say I've had good experiences. I was indecisive so I ordered the split decision ($9.39) perfect for me. 2 pancakes, 2 eggs, 2 bacon & sausage and 1 slice of French toast. Hubs ordered the cinnamon brioche French toast combo ($9.29). 2 pieces of FT, 2 eggs, 2 bacon and hash browns. Food took 20 minutes with a couple of other orders in before ours. The butter milk pancakes and pork sausage were pretty good. Pancakes were fluffy and sweet. The scrambled eggs were okay, nothing special. The French toast was mediocre. A flat piece of tasteless bread. I didn't eat the bacon mainly fat. Hubs' cinnamon brioche was drowned in cream cheese and thick sugary cinnamon syrup. I could only eat 1 bite it was a sweet over kill. Our waitress and hostess was pleasant. The place could use a cleaning. Our table was next to a window seal that needed to be wiped down. On a cloudy summer Sunday morning, Boyfriend and I were starving and in the mood for some comforting breakfast food. At 8:45 AM, the place was already super crowded. We managed to snag the last parking spot in the lot and headed to place our name on the waitlist. Thinking the wait time was going to be only 15-20 minutes as we were told, we sat outside on the bench to wait. However, we ended up waiting around 30-35 minutes instead. Already negative points there. It didn't take too long to figure out what we wanted to order. Boyfriend got the one of the summer pancake specials with his ultimate breakfast plate and I got the health n nut blueberry banana pancakes with egg whites and turkey bacon - a bit more on the healthy side. Both orders arrived in a good amount of time, but we were already starving and anxious for our food. The pancakes were average. Nothing too special - mine, though was healthy, felt like it was missing something. It was very bland even though it was supposed to be filled with nuts and blueberries and bananas. Oh well. Boyfriend's pancakes were delicious - topped with fruit, syrup and ice cream. Though it did have more sugar and was overall more appealing, it feel like I wasn't quite blown away with the quality of pancakes and felt like there could have been improvement. The savory parts of our meal were decent. My egg whites were cooked well, but my turkey bacon was a bit dry. Not quite sure if that's how it just is. Boyfriend's bacon was crispy, but not as crispy as he would have liked it (granted he does like them pretty much burnt). The waitress for our table wasn't overly attentive or neglectful - so that area was pretty average. In the end, we had a very average experience. Our food was ok, but the main issue for us was wait time - which is just due to our particular experience. The IHOP is similar to other IHOPS. If you have been to one before, I'm sure you already know what to expect. The menu is well organized and includes helpful pictures to decide. Also, if you haven't been, they have a 55+ menu section. Getting here wasn't too difficult and they have their own parking lot. FYI, it's on a slope so heads up about that. We had a great server but I overheard another table complaining about theirs (not the same server as ours). The food is standard so again, it tastes like food at other IHOPS. Not too many of these old A-Frame IHOP's left anymore. Yeah, it's not as roomy as Union City's and the parking lot is funky, but it adds to the nostalgic charm. Solid breakfast choices, especially the Swedish pancakes, and good lunch/dinner items at reasonable prices makes this place a great option when you're in the area. I ended up waiting about 30 min to get a seat but got served quickly and got my food fast. I did not feel rushed while I ate, the server was very willing to bring me more drinks and ask me if I wanted anything else, even though he dropped off my bill shortly after my food. I appreciated that I had my check after the first time he asked me if I wanted anything else so I could just get up and pay when I was ready. It's the end of a second night show at the high school, everybody has something to do. Except for a chosen few. They actually made their plans to hang out with the few people. What were their plans? Ihop. After so many high school shows the cast would get together some nights and just go here to eat. This place was always accommodating, no matter how big the group was. We were constantly greeted by friendly faces and they got us to a table in no time. There was a couple servers that actually remember all of our names sometimes. That continued even after high school. They provide a very warming atmosphere everytime. The food is normally awesome. However, they have their on and off times but even those times weren't too bad. The food lately, has gone a little too corporate-repeat-same set up for each plate of food deal that I really don't like. Things to get: big steak omelette that comes with pancakes on the side, customize them. it cost like a dollar more and it is so worth it. the biscuits and gravy (back when they had a better presentation of the food, now no longer that great), and the last thing to get that isn't breakfast, the philly cheesesteak (if you wanna feel like a whale, no judges here). The coffee isn't bad but then again I don't really know what good coffee could taste like but I feel this way anyways. Now as you can see the review isn't great but there is a lot here and this is all because things have changed and I want IHOP to see this. It's been a while since we've been to IHOP, and we have to say, it could have been better. We came in around 715 pm and it wasn't so packed. We had to wait about 5-10 mins to be seated. Our waiter was really attentive to us and came by to ask us if everything was okay and if we needed anything else. We had a craving for pancakes so we ordered the "build your breakfast". Pancakes were delicious, but we felt like the proportions of the rest of the meal could have been more. The hash brown could've been cooked a bit longer for that nice crispy crunch. CHRISTINA IS AMAZING!! So... I tried to make an order for delivery, but Uber Eats would only let me order from the Union City location. Unfortunately that website doesn't have a place to notate anything special for the orders. This is important because I LOVE STRAWBERRY SYRUP!! I tried to call the restaurant to specifically ask for it, but the call wouldn't go through. I called the Hayward location thinking perhaps there was a new phone number they wouldn't mind giving me and explained the situation. I spoke with Christina, who was very kind and she explained that there was no other phone number, but if I switched to Grubhub, they would deliver from her location and she would gladly give me STRAWBERRY SYRUP. Even though I was using a up a $20 credit on Uber Eats, I decided switching delivery service in order to get what I wanted was more important, even if I have to forego the 20 bucks. I ordered my breakfast as well as 2 additional meals for coworkers. Total was over $80 (a little steep, but hey, that's what happens after all the various charges are tacked on. Plus it was worth it to get my STRAWBERRY SYRUP.) I called the restaurant to let them know I had just placed my order. The guy I spoke with guaranteed me the STRAWBERRY SYRUP. We received our order quickly, which was great! But guess what they forgot? Yep. The strawberry syrup. The one thing I was absolutely CRAVING!! It totally sucked to spend that much money and not get the ONE thing I wanted! I was beyond mad. I called the restaurant and they transferred me to Christina. Basically I figured I'd get maybe a $5 refund or something, and I'd have to leave work and go to the nearest store to find strawberry syrup. But guess what this wonderful young lady did? SHE GOT IN HER CAR AND BROUGHT ME THE SYRUP!! At first I was like, "No way. She must be joking." But she really did it. I have never seen anyone go so far out of their way to please a customer. I will ALWAYS go to this location from here on out, even though it furthest from me. When she got to my work, she was so sweet and even gave me extra "for next time" Well let me tell you, there will be many "next times."
