Never thought I'd give a chain like IHOP a five star review but here I am! :) went in there on Christmas Day and was warmly greeted and led to a table right away. I was pleasantly surprised about the food, maybe it's because I haven't been there in a while but I ordered a lettuce wrapped grilled chicken burger and it was delicious! The chicken was the perfect size, not too thick, and super juicy. I really loved the crusty cheese they added on as well. The hash browns were perfectly cooked, I would have honestly eaten 5 of those if I could. Overall the restaurant was fairly clean and nice. I'll be back!! read more

I honestly enjoy coming to this IHOP because the environment is so warming. Service is excellent. Food is great. My only concern is the tipping because they do it without letting me know until my card has passed through. Again, I love to tip but I prefer to do it in cash. read more

I cannot believe this location. Firstly, I arrived and was greeted adequately. Staff was busy, but attentive. That's all I can say as a positive. Now, I am seated and order coffee as I wait for my friend to decide what he wants. I open my silverware and there is CAKED ON GRIME and visible debris all over the fork. The coffee cup was dirty prior to my pouring a drop. There are literally 3 viruses running amuck right now and this dining establishment has the AUDACITY to not clean there utensils? If this is what they present to their paying customers, God only knows what's going on in that kitchen. I told the waitress what happened and it was dismissed. On Tuesday, September 5,2023, at 10:00-10:30pm I had the most shit service ever. I tipped my server 2.00 because it was ridiculous that she still couldn't see how wrong the service was for my daughter and myself. I was more upset that it had to be terrible food from the kids menu. I honestly know you need to retrain everyone or change management because this franchise is becoming more overrated to come. I had to go to McDonalds across the street to get my daughter food. First, please put the customer first. Cleaning can be done once that customer has been taken care of. The server never asked if there was anything we needed. I had to ask another server to come get my server. We didn't have enough napkins. My drink was refilled moments later where there were times that server rather linger in the back of the house then be in the front of the house. I had to ask my server to get another second plate due to the how ridiculously fried the chicken fingers were. The chicken fingers were deep fried for too long that it was hard for my daughter to bite down . My daughter had cry because the plate was taken away. Mind this they brought back the same plate with ketchup underneath the new chicken fingers that were placed over her plate. Then!! My kid didn't eat the plate at all. IHOP is not the greatest but it's not the worst either. It's decidedly middle of the road diner food. Have to say that their breakfast options are much better than their lunch/dinner menu no matter what time of day. I'm a sucker for their strawberry crepes or the strawberry banana french toast. This particular location off of Ventura Blvd & Haskell Ave in Encino is interesting in how close it is to Sepulveda Blvd. If you're not familiar with the Valley, there's just something about Sepulveda that brings out the crazies. If you come to this IHOP at night, you never know if you're going to run into someone normal or the shadiest of weirdos. At night I've had a high woman sit behind me in the middle of the restaurant, creepily lean over the booth divider, and say in my ear that she liked my crepes. Bad management. Nobody answers. Finally finally somebody did then put me on hold for 12 minutes. I hung up to call again and it went straight to the line is busy. Call 20 minutes later numerous times and still goes straight to the line is busy. once upon a time we had a few good breakfasts here. last time, not so much. Every single dish came out cold. all of them. I ordered an English muffin toasted dark, and it came out cold and you would think it was more hard and stale than toasted. I asked for it to be toasted dark and they just reheated the already ruined muffin, only for me to ask for it again 15 minutes later because they forgot about it, and of course it comes out hard and cold. Bacon, soggy and cold, not crispy. waffles and pancakes? Shockingly cold. BTW, the protein pancakes are nowhere as good as the harvest grain pancakes they used to have. Oh, and they didn't have blueberries. Don't have blueberries? The manager was nice enough, gave us 50 percent off the bill, but he should really be investigating what's going on there that prevents hot food fresh off the griddle from going out the the customer 5 feet away. read more

But the highlight was the coffee we finally got to order. There was an oily appearing substance floating on the surface of the black coffee. I have a lot of sympathy for what it must be like for staff right now, but ended up in an odd situation where the restaurant was pretty empty - and yet the staff of 3 chose to huddle at the very BACK of the restaurant by the kitchen (completely separated by the lobby and cashier stand so they can't even SEE the customers)... so that throughout my entire meal with only two other tables filled - we all had to keep getting up and calling to the wait staff to please wait on us. The senior crew member seem to be someone by the name of Benjamin and I asked him point-blank why they were choosing to stay at the back of the restaurant rather than serving the guests currently at the restaurant ... and I got kind of a shrug and him walking away. Late dinner at iHop. Place was freezing cold, which almost made us walk out. They were able to move us closer to the kitchen, section where the temp was normal. Service was mediocre, as we had to request coffee on 3 separate occasions. Food orders were mixed on items requested. Slow service, even though they had a lot of staff. Most were cleaning and chatting and would chat with the servers also, so that delayed food service. Aside from that, taste was blah- nothing superb, temperature? Could have been warmer if plates were passed out sooner and not left sitting while servers chatted. On a side note, our server had way too much cologne.
