Chilaquiles
CritDicks ..

A good place for the extended menu. I'm not sure if other IHOPs have similar cuisine, that is a full array of omelets to include Mexican inspired ingredients. Mechaca and Eggs. Mechaca Omelet. Chilaquiles. Chorizo con Huevos. The good stuff. We were guided here on the way through. Do give it a try. CritDicks

Service was excellent, our server was attentive and took good care of us. The food was well prepared and tasted good. There are booths and tables and it was comfortable having dinner. This location is a complete opposite to the Simi Valley location.

Went this Sunday 1/11/26 and there was a min 10 wait. Food was good and service by Mrs Rosie/ Rosa was exceptional. Very nice, sweet and always with a smile asking if our order was going well.

The food was really good but the service was not. We had one guy put his hand up at us when we tried to wave him down for water. Also if the table asks for water, don't only give it to one person. So for a $50 breakfast for two I expected more at a sit down. It was really loud. The workers were blasting their own music to where I couldn't hear my SO. I wish I could've sat on the other side of the restaurant but we weren't given a choice of where to sit even though there were plenty of options. For the workers being seasoned, they acted like fast food or gas station employees.

The food is good m. Friendly service. Everything is clean. Overall, good experience when I came here.

Keeping in mind this is an IHOP, I had a nice breakfast here that my niece chose as her first meal of the day on her birthday! I hadn't been to an IHOP in forever, so I went with a classic 2x2x2 with eggs, bacon, sausage and pancakes. The pancakes tasted great and we all enjoyed our breakfast. I also liked the iced cold brew I got. Plus our service was good and speedy.

This is my second visit here, and each time I was pleasantly surprised. For an IHOP, this is as good as it gets. My family and I left happy and full both times. It's your typically busy breakfast diner ambiance, but it was much cleaner than other breakfast diners I've been to. Service was faster and friendlier than Twenty 88 (a higher end restaurant across the 101), at 1/4 of the cost of the higher end restaurant. Each time our food was out in good time, with everything being right the first time. Having worked at an IHOP as a busboy in high school, my favorite breakfast was the Rooty Tooty Fresh and Fruity. I asked the server what would be the closest to that since it's no longer on the menu and each time they knew, the 2 pancake breakfast with strawberries and whipped cream. I kept the bananas on there the second time around since technically it's the strawberry banana 2 pancake breakfast, which I liked even more than the strawberries alone. The coffee is where they lose points. It's weak coffee with packet creamers. It would be nice if they at least brought out some real milk or cream but this is a breakfast diner after all so it's to be expected. My kid's go-to is chocolate, so the chocolate chip pancake with a smiley face made of whipped cream was a hit for him. I took a bite and approved as well. His friend opted for the 5 silver dollar pancakes, which she liked and finished up. While my Mrs went with the berry crepes, an epic fail. The crepes taste like pig intestines. They were slimy greasy tasting things, not your typical crepes, so she just picked off the fruit after choking down a couple bites. This place was a lifesaver when our power was out for 2 days due to the fires. I'll be sure to return for another 2 pancake breakfast without the Mrs since she wasn't a fan either time, but my kid and I loved it. Well, that's this critic's review, until next time, I'll be eating.

The wait time is long always for sitting or to receive food. Not only that but the food always arrives cold.

Mother's Day Was Ruined. And I Need the Owner to Know…read more Let me tell you something. I've worked in five-diamond restaurants. I've worked Applebee's got the pin to prove it. Fried chicken spots. Everything in between. So when I tell you what happened here, know that I'm not some customer who doesn't understand how restaurants work. I know exactly how they work. My best friend lives in Camarillo and honey, he has been raving about this place for months. Every time someone comes to visit, he brings them here. He made our Mother's Day reservations well in advance. Our party of six. This man has easily dropped thousands of dollars in this restaurant. He loves this place. Loved. We arrived early. Server was ok. Seated us at 11, full house, two-hour window we understood the assignment. I ordered the chicken and waffles. Everything came out hot and fast. We're laughing, talking, having the best time and then I look down at my plate. There is a bug. Crawling. Through my eggs. My son grabbed his phone and got the picture. My husband God bless him, shot up to find a manager because that's what you do. That's what any reasonable person does. He found her. Her name is Cheryl. And Cheryl said... "You should've taken it up with the server." Strike one. Then she walks over to our table with an attitude and before I can even hand her my plate, she looks at me and says, "How do you want your eggs?" Like I'm supposed to take the same food back. The food with the bug in it. I was stunned. Not just by the question by the energy. It was off putting. She was annoyed. Like somehow WE were the problem. My kids were horrified. My best friend, the man who loves this restaurant was completely embarrassed. I asked to look at the menu. I wanted something different. Reasonable, right? We waited. The server came back, completely in the dark, said something like "I guess something was wrong with your food?" Sweet kid. Felt terrible when we filled him in. I said I'd just take a burger. He said of course they'd remove the chicken and waffles. THEN he came back. "We're going to have to charge you for the burger." WTH, I thought he had lost his entire mind. He disappeared again, came back, apologized I believe he genuinely felt bad. This has happened before when I have been a server and a manager is more than happy to offer you another dish and take off the other one. But Cheryl? The manager? Never came back. NOT once. Instead, she made her rounds to every single table AROUND us. Laughing. Greeting people. Interacting with guests. For 15 to 20 minutes, we sat there and watched her deliberately avoid our table. And that's when it hit me the thing I didn't want to think. I looked around. Really looked around. And we were the only ones. WELL, I was the only one who was African American woman. Me and my kids. My bestie and my hubby are of European descent. I don't SAY that lightly. Honestly? It makes me sick to even say it. But I couldn't find another explanation. Neither could my friend, who sat straight up in his chair and saw it too up close and personal. He was angry. I had to calm everyone down and say this wasn't worth it. I canceled the burger. We left. It was the worst Mother's Day I have ever had in my life. I have never been treated like this before. It's 2026. People have diverse families. What happened?! To the owner -- I'm hoping you're not her, and I'm hoping you read this. Your friend lost a loyal customer who brought everyone he knew through your doors. You lost our table, our money, and our trust the moment Cheryl decided we didn't matter. The moment she decided that she couldn't be bothered. I travel all around the world speaking, training and I have never been treated to poorly. I called hoping to speak to the OWNER. Cheryl called me back. Are you for real? She HAD a chance to make it right. But clearly she didn't care. She had every opportunity to make it right. She chose not to.

To our surprise, the weekday earlyish dinner experience here was even BETTER than our great first impression in Ventura. The reason? Our stellar server Dan! Dan is if the soothing vocal affect & detail orientedness of Kelsey Grammer's Frasier Crane, + the compassion of Dr. Phil, + the genuine caring of your bff who really gets you all got infused into the body of a tall, tanned, actor-handsome golfer. We joked that Dan could heal anyone's daddy issues bc he was SO perfectly attentive & thoughtful in his details. From helpfully comprehensive explanations of the best of that day's daily fish, to the bringing us CHILLED spoons to eat some of our to-go blueberry cobbler before the ice cream could melt on the drive home, to bringing us new glasses of club soda mid meal - level thoughtfulness. When they say it's the little things, it really means it's all the little things that add up to a big thing. Green flags like crazy. Yep, that's our Dan! Dan was a totally unexpected surprise, but the comfy booth seating, cool decor & awesome food was not. We have come to expect a level of consistent excellence at Lure. This visit further reinforced this impression. Wild Cod Fish & Chips - likely some of the best - lightest & crispiest - cod we have had - ever, & I'm talking in the world (When we told Dan we'd share that dish, he offered to bring it first, so we could share it as an appetizer. Another green flag!) Sally's Sand Dabs - my 2nd time ordering this bc it's so perfect - pineapple slaw is always great & the garlicky spinach was buttery textured, simple, & fantastic Blue Eyed Trevalla - true to Dan's recommendation, a spectacular fish & cooked perfectly House salad - worth a special mention bc it was surprisingly great w/crispy raw corn kernels & a yum balsamic dressing Blueberry Cobbler a la mode - big enough to enjoy w/the ice cream there & also the rest at home later. Chilled spoons should be served with dessert all the time. Add the super easy parking situation to this great experience, & this was as perfect a dinner experience as you could ever have!
