    Turkey Bacon Ranch
    Lou H.

My favorite sub's name says it all, Turkey, Bacon, Ranch! It doesn't get more American than that folks. That threesome is sure to satisfy, but will definitely leave a dent in the wallet as these sandwiches are not cheap. Though slightly pricier than other chains you're definitely getting a better quality bread at Firehouse. I have yet to get a sub that doesn't have a soft fresh baked roll. The cheese melts atop the turkey, coating the sandwich while the ranch adds some zest. Just writing this review has my mouth watering and now I'm thinking I need another sub for dinner. It is a small place, with limited seating, but I get my sandwiches to-go. The place is decorated in firefighter decor, hence the name. Kids meals get a firefighter helmet, and first responders get a free drink with their sandwich by showing their ID. Overall I recommend this place over any other sandwich chain in Camarillo. That's this critic's review, until next time I'll be eating.

Their daily sub special for $9.89

This new firehouse sub popped up in this area and I was excited. Coming from Orange County, I was familiar with this first responder friendly restaurant that delicious subs and drinks. The service was as nice as can be, with the cashier being attentive to every detail, including making me aware of promotions such as first responders discount, as well as explaining the menu. This was the redeeming 3 stars for this establishment due to the service. Sadly, the food did not reflect the same enthusiasm as the cashier did. I think I either got the hero's sandwich or the steamer. Regardless, the sandwich was devoid of taste and I dare say, ranks behind subway. It was warm, and rather-- not inviting. It was difficult to finish the sandwich as each bite did not compel me for more bites. I was disappointed as the firehouse subs in Orange County were very tasty. They do have a daily medium sub deal which is posted outside the door on a standing sign. However, after this poor culinary experience, I don't think the daily deal can get me back to try the other sandwiches. :/

I want to start by saying the highlight of this location is definitely the staff. The gals that were working here the day that I came were super nice! The hospitality was there and everyone was kind. One gal took my order at the counter and was engaging, nice. Even once my order was completed the other gal hand walked my to go sandwich over to the table I was sitting at instead of calling it out and having me get up (which would have been totally fine) but the added touch of service was super nice. So for that I'd say please don't change your customer service approach and my expedience with your team was A+. The reason for the lower review is I just didn't find the price point to match the quality of the sandwich and like some of the other three star reviews and lower ones, I just wasn't a huge fan of their sandwiches here. Maybe it's this location, as I've had other decent firehouse subs at other locations. Agreeing with other reviews, the sandwiches here have a weird lukewarm temperature. Kind of unappetizing in nature. I am totally fine with a griddle pressed sandwich or a melt - those are flavor profiles I can understand. But here is a little off somehow. The bread is soft but doesn't get any kind of mark or griddle press with it being a warm sub yet the sauces are kind of over heated which like another said, made the mayonnaise a weird flavor being warmed up. It all just didn't make sense or taste appropriate but at other locations I've gotten the same sub and didn't have that problem. Maybe you are safer sticking to a cold sandwich here but I didn't enjoy mine enough to give it another go anytime soon. Also with so many sandwich companies around I don't find firehouse to be a good value. At $11 a sub I would expect something a little more WOW or even just edible compared to my experience and some others. I'd rather support a mom and pop deli charging $12 a sandwich then a chain who's struggling with execution. At least some people like it here but it wasn't for me. Overall conclusion is that the staff are super friendly and great. The restaurant is newer and very clean and welcoming. However, price point and sandwiches just aren't where I'd like them to be to be a repeat customer.

Pretty good options! Kids loved it. They even have a "less bread" option. They scrape out the middle of the thick bread.

Also came with sides of salad, sour cream, and fruit. The staff was extremely friendly and helped us decide what to order and checked in on us frequently as we were eating to make sure we were taken care of. The food also came quickly. Plenty of seating inside, I didn't see tables outside but there's ledges to sit on. Also there's a bathroom for customers. Would highly recommend you try this spot!! I ordered the blueberry colada matcha since it's nothing like I've had before and I gotta say, I was pleasantly surprised. Oh literally said, "oh wow!" Wasn't expecting the blueberry and coconut flavors to be so present and fresh tasting. It was a bit on the sweeter end but very good nonetheless. I also ordered a danish and that sadly wasn't the greatest. It was a little too cold and hard. Service was friendly. The only issue with the shop is that in the short amount of time I was in and out ordering my drink, I left smelling like restaurant. You know that food/grease smell that sticks to your clothes? Yup, that one! I even stepped outside to wait for my drink and was still a victim. So bummed about that so hoping they can figure out better circulation for all customers, especially those like me who weren't even in there long. I will be back again in the future. Looking forward to giving their other drinks and food options a shot.

I love a good Italian sub and remembered that this place is in Camarillo and decided to get them through DoorDash one day. My review unfortunately has to leave out customer service and atmosphere as I didn't go inside. I will say they are a great spot to order from as their delivery is A+. My order was all made to order correctly and packaged nicely for the transport. Easy peasy if you want a sub and some sides to go. I would rate the food overall 4 stars and was happy with my meal. -I started with the Italian sub which was a solid 4.5/5. The bread was soft and fresh. The Italian cold cuts were loaded up and it was a generous sandwich. Loved the sides and dressings. Lots of good sandwich shops in Camarillo and this one should definitely be added to your list. -Macaroni salad is a solid 5/5! I saw my friend Jess B. Gave their macaroni salad a rave review so I had to order it. It was in fact delicious and I'll go back here again just to grab some sides of this. Super tasty and if you like a mayo based macaroni salad this one was so good. -Personal preference, skip on the deviled eggs. I like a more mayo forward deviled egg and these were heavy mustard forward. Some people will like that and then maybe these are for you. I just felt like the filling lacked a creaminess that I like and since I don't love mustard I wouldn't get them again. I know deviled eggs are a labor of love so I do appreciate them having these on their menu. Lombardos was a solid 4/5 in my book as the sandwich was delicious and I'd definitely come back for that macaroni salad. I need to check them out in person next time.

And while their butcher shop is smaller than butcher departments in most supermarkets it's my favorite place to buy meat in Camarillo. I've found the quality of their chicken, beef, and pork is better than what I find elsewhere. In addition, their prices are either the same or better than what you can find at supermarkets. Another thing I like about their butcher shop is they make speciality sausages that are delicious and inexpensive. So, if you're looking for a good takeout sandwich or some meat to cook at home I highly recommend Lombardo's Gourmet Deli and Meats.

Unfortunately, the food I…read moregot from this place was not up to par--but, as an Italian foodie, I do have high expectations. I had the classic Italian sandwich and a side of potato salad. My main complaint is that the meats are not imported, which is something I expect from an Italian deli. The potato salad tasted like something you'd get already prepared at the grocery store. I ate a couple of bites of the potato salad and less than 1/4 of the sandwich. They were not tasty and resulted in a migraine. The customer service also left something to be desired. I ordered online and when I arrived to pick up my food, the man behind the counter was turned away, bent over his phone. He never looked up or turned around. I was eventually met by a young woman who came out of the back and handed me my bag of food, which was sitting right there. She was friendly and pointed out where I could find utensils. I want to emphasize that nowhere was it advertised that the meats were imported or uncured, so it was my error for expecting a higher quality. I think customers should be aware so they don't make the same mistake that I did. I won't go here again, but it might be okay for you. Fortunately, there are other delis in the area that offer delicious sandwiches that use imported and uncured meats.

I figured we would get something that I could tolerate and it would be okay - generic dining. I did not expect to actually have something to write about. But I was wrong. The grilled chicken they serve with the Chaufa is very nicely seasoned. It is bits of breast meat, grilled with a little char and adds depth to the otherwise mild flavor of the rice dish. My husband had Chaufa with shrimp, which I didn't sample but he ate the entire meal without complaint. We ordered the pork belly bites to start. They were perfectly cooked and seasoned. I enjoyed this appetizer so much that I know I will order it again. If I have the chaufa again, I would definitely have it with the pork belly. I ordered the lemonade and was puckering in a good way. Honestly, it tasted more like limeade than lemon. I was happy it wasn't too sweet because I could really enjoy the refreshing citrus flavors. I would go there just for a lemonade. They serve it icy cold in mug style, mason jar glass. Our friend ordered the iced tea and when it arrived. I was pleasantly surprised by the look of the fresh fruit in the clear glass, frosted over from the cold and ice. So nice. He said the herbs and fruit were a good combination. The wife of the owner waited on us. She is understated, friendly and efficient. We didn't have much of a wait as it looked as though we might have just missed the breakfast/brunch rush. I was impressed with how quickly we received our food. If we hadn't just eaten there a couple days ago, I would have gone to Azafran for dinner tonight. I look forward to making it a favorite local place where I can introduce our visitors to a good neighborhood restaurant.
