I used to go to the Newbury Park location all the time just because of her, and when she moved to Camarillo, I literally had to start coming out here too. This is an interesting review. I come here only seldomly to study or work on stuff because Starbucks, other coffee shops, or the library can get crowded and loud (school's library is closed Sundays) and there's outlets here in the back to plug in my tablet or phone and it's more quiet to focus because I get overstimulated. The other day I was doing my internship meeting and a server came to the back and gave me a sus and mad dawging look and another worker asked if I was okay and everything was fine so I was so completely confused. It wasn't busy in the back and I had a internship meeting after church? I think it was kind of like based on race or something and it was kind of weird to me. I kind of thought some people from Camarillo is kinda weird tho (I'm from SCV) so maybe they got sus people coming in because one time I saw a lady acting weird with a guy she was with. The servers can go back to school and get a nicer job and intern or get a certificate and mind their own. Please judge people fairly haha my name means God is my Judge. What can you say about Denny's? It's an American classic. This location never disappoints. They are friendly, clean and the food is consistent. I always....I mean always get great pancakes here. Stopped in today because I had a free stack of pancakes reward. Coupled that with a breakfast off the 55+ menu, shared that with my fiancé and it was just enough. Everything about it was perfect. The staff is hardworking and their served food is always very consistent. However, there is one standout trait above all else. Her name is Norma and she has been a dedicated, loyal and standout waitress for the Denny's corporation for 27 years. I was hopeful when this Denny's in Camarillo on Daily Drive came under new ownership because the initial changes were noticeable. However, it has since reverted to the same poor service and low food quality. I ordered a half order of nachos, and for $11.30, I received about 10-12 chips--completely unacceptable. The cook, who has been there far too long, continues to cut corners, and it's clear there is no quality control. Beyond the food, there is an undeniable feeling of discrimination in this establishment. I have contacted corporate before, yet the managers never follow up or take action. To make matters worse, when I tried to take a picture of my order (which I had already paid for), the cashier attempted to stop me, insisting that I let them transfer the chips into a soup bowl first. Absolutely not--I was documenting exactly what I was served. I took my business elsewhere and went four minutes down the road to Sharky's, where I ordered the same half order of nachos. The difference is shocking. For just 70 cents more, I received a much better portion, fresh ingredients, and outstanding service. No lie--look at the pictures. The proof is right here. Denny's management and ownership need to be held accountable for what's happening in their establishment. "The first picture is from Denny's--this is what they call a half order of nachos for $11.30. So I'm writing this review because Alex, the general manager at this location is really super nice, professional, really cares about his customers. I've gone to this location a few times and this most recent trip when I walked in there was Alex the big smile, positive energy so warm and welcoming he said good morning. Welcome wherever you would like that was cool just everything and I didn't know where I wanted to sit lol The staff overall are very friendly and helpful and service is great there was one woman I don't remember her name. She seemed like she was honestly pissed off like she just wasn't nice. She took my order very horridly and unfriendly. This is not the norm. The guys and other women there are great. I ordered my food and it was delicious hashbrowns perfect eggs were tasty bacon Alex came around the desk to check in and ask how our food and stay was? We chatted for a few minutes is a very personable guy and he really cares about his customers and his restaurant. The restaurant is clean inside and out so it has a friendly ambience. I am writing this in the hope that instead of firing the person involved, Denny's will make an effort to provide appropriate training about inclusion and proper customer service to its staff. On New Year's Day morning, I decided to start my year with a good breakfast. 2025 had been an awful year for me and, in my culture, the first meal you eat in a New Year needs to be filling and enjoyable, so it sets the tone for your year. In checking around briefly, I didn't find many restaurants open, but noticed Denny's was, so thought I'd go in and have a nice, quiet, breakfast. The gentleman, who I assume might have been the manager, asked how many in my party. I said "one" so he brought menus and silverware for two. That should have been my first tip off. He asked if I wanted coffee and I replied, "Actually, a hot tea, please." He returned with the tea - a single black teabag - no creamer, so I thought I'd just wait until the server came by until I enjoyed that cup. Some time went by and no one came to take my order, let alone bring creamer. Mind you, the dining room was NOT busy at all. I saw only 1 or 2 other people. Some more time went by and then a couple came in and were seated in the booth on the other side of the divider from me. I thought, "Ok. Now they will notice I'm still sitting here." The gentleman who had seated me also seated them and took their drink order. I looked up and he nodded and said someone would be by soon. I waited...and waited. After some time went by, he reappeared at the table of those he had seated after me and took their order, joking with them, asking how they wanted their eggs done, etc. I thought, "Wow. Really? Oh well, he'll at least come by here when he's done there." Nope. No, he didn't. He completely ignored me and a few more minutes went by and I decided my New Year was not going to start out with me having to beg for service I was paying for. I got up, walked to the front desk and he saw me and I said, "I'd like to pay for my tea. I'm not going to keep waiting for service." Instead of doing the right thing and noting that he goofed and offering to comp the tea (which cost me nearly $4 for not even getting to enjoy it as I should have), he made a comment something about me not wanting to wait and I said, "I don't think I should have to wait while you're chatting with your friends when you know I was there first and I had been waiting." He smiled and shrugged and replied, "Hey...it happens sometimes." Here's the kicker. I think this was bias-motivated. Mind you, most of my friends are not from the same culture I am so, no, I don't have issues with people, other than those who are prejudiced or rude. I don't know if he decided that my one meal wouldn't warrant a large enough tip (Too bad, because I tip extra on holidays and I'm always a very good tipper regardless), if I was just some old lady he could ignore or - since he was speaking in Spanish and very jovial with the couple at the other table (while ignoring me), maybe this was a matter of racial bias. I don't know and I don't care. A customer is a customer. That's up to Denny's to figure out and address. As I said, my culture (which is foreign, fyi) views the first meal of the New Year as very important and I'd like to thank that terrible Denny's employee for his rudeness. Yes. I mean that. THANK YOU! Why? Because I left and then found the AMAZING Country Harvest Restaurant in Camarillo, where I not only didn't experience bias of any kind, but the kind manager, Gloria, and the entire staff were absolutely lovely and efficient and the food was FANTASTIC - generous portions, many more menu options than Denny's, everything was cooked to perfection, and the service was wonderful. I also had a choice of a wide variety of tea, and the selection of creamers was on the table without asking. They even gave me a senior discount! Dennys' loss is Country Harvest's win. Went there this past Friday and was pleasantly surprised!! Mostly because our waitress Debbie did a stellar job of taking care of our party of 16. Myself and a large group frequent various restaurants every Friday night in Camarillo. Typically we go for fancier settings but last week we wanted something simple so we decided to hit good ole Denny's. The food was surprisingly good (my fiancé and I both got steaks) and while I wouldn't say it was Michelin rated it was great for the price. My First Time in Years This Denny's has been in Camarillo forever! Over the years management has changed and it has not always been great. But today was a typical day and I was blown away. Not only is the wait staff attentive to your every need, they go above and beyond. I was not sure if I wanted to just do the slam or the crepe, and they showed me how to have both! I also appreciated the fact that in every position i seem people of color. This holds true to the mission and vision on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Also, over 10 years ago the layout of the restaurant was outdated with the vintage wraparound bar. Gone are the days of the past! The dining area is much more updated and modern, cozy and homey. The bright orange padded booths, bye, bye. I definitely feel this Denny's got a positive facelift and moved into a new era of acceptance and leadership. read more

I recently visited my local Denny's in Camarillo with some friends to find a place to study as this is the only place open 24/7. Our hostess and waiter was Jamie, she was very kind and welcoming(I always assume a late night calls for lesser service especially from my past experiences, I can sympathize and appreciate their service) but to my delight it was quite the opposite. Right when we sat down we had taken note the cleanliness of our table. The ambiance was chill not too loud and good lighting. As she was taking our drink orders I mentioned how cool her nails are and this broke the ice of conversation, Jamie was chill, and created a very pleasant service experience. When our food came out it was very presentable, appetizing, and overall great, we finished our plates without any complaints . Jamie continuously checked on us, providing us with napkins and anything else we needed, additionally she gave my friend extra lemon to spice up this meal without him asking. We had a very mediocre experience on Black Friday in the evening. We'd been shopping with the family at the outlet mall, and the youngest member decided that she was hungry. When you have a picky eater asking for food, you proceed to try to find something for her to eat, even pushing 9 p.m. Granted, as with many restaurants, they were short on staff, and short on cheer. They were about half full at that hour. We were seated fairly quickly, but it took a while for a server to acknowledge us and come over to take the drink order. It took even longer for our food order to be sought, then filled. Given that everyone was tired, hungry, and running low on energy, that wasn't ideal. I ordered breakfast for dinner, and it was just okay. Usually that's something that Denny's can be relied on for serving fresh, hot, and with familiar taste. That night, it wasn't up to their usual style. It's got to be challenging to be operating a restaurant these days, so I give them props for keeping the doors open. We tried go there on Christmas night when on the way to a local event, but there was a line out the door. There's definitely a need for a coffee shop with 24/7 hours. I hope they'll be able to find and keep some additional employees to keep guests happy. read more
