Pro Tip - go for the plates on the "Baconalia" menu - thick cut premium Hormel bacon is the way to go. The only mediocre thing at breakfast today was the regular bacon on the grand slam plate. Decided to come here for a late night study sesh and immediately felt comfortable with our waiter Jamie who let us know there are tables in the back with outlets! She was very accommodating and chill to talk to which is important since we didn't feel rushed out or shunned for having our homework out. They keep the restaurant clean and play old timey diner music, so we got our work done with no problem. I've usually come here over the last decade when I'm craving comfort food in the middle of the night with some friends or family and have never had a bad experience. Will be coming here more often to study. Some side notes: it gets pretty chilly inside so beware if you run cold, and the country fried steak is the burger patty type not the flattened steak version! Luckily I like both. Also when coming on yelp I noticed a review from "destiny p." a couple weeks ago who I am absolutely disgusted by. How can someone be so cruel, wretched, and compassionless. The server/hostess was an excellent worker who clearly takes good care towards her customers. Her Customer service was top-notch, she was very friendly, attentive, and always with a smile. Jamie made sure that everything was just right and she made me and my friends comfortable. I showed up around 8:30 p.m. with a friend that was eager to eat after just getting off campus. Upon entry, we stood around for about five whole minutes with not a single worker anywhere in sight. Eventually a woman walked by and asked if we were dining in or picking up, then when we said we would be dining in she gave us a look of annoyance, told us she would be right back and disappeared for about another 5 minutes. Once we were finally seated, we sort of laughed and grew concerned because the table was not exactly clean and she disappeared as soon as she had us seated. We tried to give her the benefit of the doubt and hope that maybe it was just a long, busy night for her, but even as we attempted to open our menus and figure out what we wanted to order immediately so we didn't have to wait any longer, the menu itself was startling. There were a couple pages that appeared to be stuck together, one full of so much mystery substance that my friend thought I was ripping the manual apart literally, but it was just so glued together with substance that a whole page had fused together. I don't know how hard it is to properly clean a menu but apparently they haven't figured out the secret to hygiene yet. About another literal 20 minutes went by, we continue to examine our menu and make small talk as we caught up with each other. We looked around and the place was pretty much a ghost town, yet for some reason the server was nowhere to be seen. We finally got so tired and hungry that we gave up and went to in and out since she hadn't even brought us at least a water. As we made our way out, initially I did not see her at all, then as we exited and I turned around I saw her behind the back area where the cooks are, casually on her phone tapping away. I'm not sure if she literally just did not care at all and was busy on her phone while she was supposed to be working, or if she just did not tell anyone she was on break and had nobody relieve her to get us started. I get that it's a food service job, and not the most glamorous high paying position, but if you are going to work I would hope you are at least grateful to have a job and do the best you can in hopes of getting promoted or just leaving a good impression while you are there temporarily to make some extra money. My experience at this location was great after not being to Dennys in awhile. As soon as walked I was greeted with a warm welcome and sat down right away. The restaurant looked very clean and the servers were super friendly. My server in particular was very attentive and had overall had great customer service that made me want to come back. The waiter today was being so rude. I come here often and have never been treated like that. I don't think she's mentally okay. She was talking very loudly to the cook about how her boyfriend past away and how she was alone at the funeral. She 100% did not seem stable. Unfortunately things like this may happen in life, but for this reason, she shouldn't be working yet. She had a very bad attitude with me and my Fiance. We were waiting a long long time to just be seated and than to just get the menu. After I told her that I just wanted a cookie and 2 waters, she looked at me very rude and walked away. I had to do it. While I never would have looked at a yelp review to go to a Denny's, after my experience to leave my yelp review, I looked at some of the previous reviews. This is not your grandparents Denny's. It's Fast Casual restaurants 2.0 in the 20th century. I didn't intend for this review to be comedic, but I'm lmao reading some of the negative reviews for this restaurant. It appears that most of the negative reviews occur after 6 PM for dinners and others are for personal reasons that I can't believe apply to a Denny's. The only time you should go into a Denny's after dark is if you're seriously drunk and have, an indiscriminate appetite. Otherwise, I'm sure they adhere to all of the ADA laws in California for the disabled. I don't know how someone could go to a Denny's and expect special dietary meals. This is Denny's folks. Where you would expect to get a mediocre meal and mediocre service strictly for hunger. lol First, I ended up going to Denny's after checking on the rain flow at the ranch in Somis. I ran into one of the ranch hands across the highway and he was telling me they meet at Denny's for breakfast every Saturday morning. I knew he was onto to something and would never steer me wrong. Before I digress any further, allow me to expand on my experience for breakfast at 9 AM on New Year's Eve day. We were greeted immediately as we walked in and told it would just be a minute. A lady greeted us, and we were taken to a Booth table & given menu's. A man who appeared to be working his ars off greeted us and said he would be right back with fresh coffee. He return shortly with fresh and hot coffee and creamer's. The menu for breakfast is extensive with predetermined Combinations called slams. Yeah you remember 25 years ago when Denny's created the grand slam lol. Now it seems everything is a slam. I decided to build my own slam, which is an option on their menu. Remember, this is Denny's and you're hungry and you want good food and a good value. That's what you get. Our food orders came, and they were perfect! what more can you expect? Food cooked and prepared the way it should be. Their coffee is amazing. That's all I'll say since coffee flavor is subjective. My coffee cup was always full and all of the associates were attentive to our dining visit. Remember since it's Denny's breakfast is King so I'm sure this is why they're well staffed in the mornings. Lastly, this is one of the cleanest restaurants I've been in since the beginning of COVID-19. The complete staff was friendly and attentive!! Note: Expect the least, and discover the most. This Denny's will blow you away! I want to support this restaurant for making it through the pandemic and still take care of customers in 2023 and beyond. When the food did finally arrive it was cold and I finished my meal before the toast arrived. We were hardly attended too to refill our drinks, took almost 20 minutes for a refill.
