I eat here often and so far service and food are great. Went to eat here last weekend and wasn't too happy the way they were handling the COVID stuff. Walked in to get dine-in and the first person to notice us is a gentlemen wearing latex gloves holding a broom/dustpan. He kindly approaches us to seat us and with those same latex gloves proceeds to handle our menus and guides us to our table. Next he takes our drink orders and I keep an eye on him and notice he's also handling our glasses with the same contaminated gloves. After receiving our drinks he proceeds back to sweeping and cleaning the dining area. Just imagine ALL the cross-contamination just to seat 1 group, this could have been happening his entire shift. =( Really disappointed in the way that went...When our waiter came to serve us, we did not touch our drinks and asked for new drinks. Everything else was perfect. Service and Food...just please educate or conduct training on proper methods of sanitation. It really isn't effective wearing gloves if you use those same gloves to touch everything and anything around you...it only protects the one who's wearing them and continues to spread or contaminate everything else that's in contact with those gloves.... read more

Very disappointed tonight. Went to grab a bite to eat with a friend of mine. Not only did we wait over 5 minutes just to be seated, at least 3 employees looked and saw us standing there waiting, not to mention one employee coming back from lunch. Wouldn't been as bad if they were extremely busy...but not even some sort of acknowledgment whatsoever. I got tired of waiting, so as I grabbed 2 menus with inserts, an employee decided to walk up to us to see if we were helped. Next, after we decided to place our orders, we didnt realize it would take almost 20 minutes to cook our order. Not like we ordered a lot and or had a huge party. Yes they had other people seated but not so packed that it would not only take a long time to be seated and cook out order. Only reason I decided to grab a table is because my friend uses a cane as he walks from bad hips. That's besides the point. My friends and I have been coming to this location off and on since 1990. Our family has eaten at our local Denny's hundreds of times over the years. Our recent visit showed us a new and improved restaurant! It was so clean and the staff was very attentive. Our food was delicious and prepared just as we ordered it. We suspect new management and we want the staff to know how much we appreciate their efforts to better serve their customers. Wish I could give zero stars. I ordered for pickup at 9:55 pm. They close at 11 pm. My order says it was ready, so I drive out to pick it up at 10:30pm. The two staff members decided to close super early and refused to open the door for me. They wouldn't even talk to me. So instead, they went and hid in the booths for 20 minutes until we left. Very mature. I called Grubhub to ask about my order and payment. They tried calling but the staff wouldn't pick up. The staff looked out the window, thinking I was calling. So they shook their head thru the window and didn't pick up the call from grub hub. The point is, I think there is a serious issue with the staff. We went somewhat late, and there weren't very many people around, but the service was bad. It wasn't the waiters attitude, it was just surprisingly show for how few people were there. We eventually just walked up to pay at the front because we were sitting around so long after eating. While standing there our waiter was outside with some friends. I assume on a break, but the place didn't even assign anyone to the table. Another man had been there quite a while and a waitress came over asking if his food came. I hate to say that I'm a regular at such a place as Denny's, but I am. But why rate it only 2-stars you ask? Because I cannot tell a lie... I must compare it to all other late-night 24-hour "restaurants" (if you can truly call Denny's a restaurant). Now, imagine a hole-in-the-wall bar that relies on the fact that they are one out of maybe three or four other bars that are open at 10:15 AM (mind you, we're not in Vegas and this is just a brain teaser), then turn the bar drinks into edible food, change the time to 3:15 AM, and you've got a Denny's. Think about it... think about it... am I right or am I right?! The food is mediocre at best. Service depends on if they really care for their small (15% of an average of $9 per person) tip. And to my knowledge, I've never used a Denny's restroom - so I can't speak about it's cleanliness. But the tables and seats aren't very clean - have you seen a busperson clean? They rarely wipe down a booth and if they do, it's usually with the same rag that they used to clean off the table - gross. No matter what location it is: In the morning, you have the old folks (as if there's a hearing aid convention next door). In the afternoon, it's empty. Late afternoon / early evening, you'll have the same seniors for the early bird special. And around midnight, you have the drunks trying to sober up after clubbing (or bowling or karaoke-ing or whatever else floats their boat while getting wasted). And yet, we still flock to a Denny's because it's the familiarity after a long night of clubbing. read more

The prices have really gone up since Covid. I'm used to getting the grand slam deal for under $10, but everything on the menu was about $15 or more for a simple breakfast. Nothing to write home about, I would only go here if nothing else was open. On a Sunday morning, it seems to be the only thing open in the area before 8 AM. The pancakes were good and the waitress was very friendly. They do have vanilla creamer and will allow you to have a service animal with you in the outdoor seating during Covid. I came here pretty late, around 10 ish. Was very glad the hostess sat us around in a back booth. This hostess was very friendly (Alex? Alexis maybe?) and she kept us away from the rowdy crowds. Much appreciated. She provided Outstanding Customer service to me! Thank you! I ordered the bacon cheesy fries. Overall it was fine. I even got extra sour cream without even getting charged. That was super great. I had asked how much extra sour cream would be, then they brought it out anyway with the fries AT no charge! Only little hiccup: noticed I was charged more for my fries. When I asked the Asian man (looked like the owner/manager) he said it was because I ordered "seasoned fries". (I hate those, BTW. I'd never order them and sure didn't want to get charged!) He kept saying I ordered that and I told him I didn't. NO WHERE in the menu did it say SEASONED FRIES. How would I know it was a thing to order? He was pretty firm and didn't seem like he was going to budge, but I had RIGHT on my side and he finally did. It was 60 cents but hey! I didn't order that so you can't charge me! This Denny's has had some negative element every time my friend and I have gone, over the past several years. Today was the worst. First, they brought us dirty mugs - like, garden dirt-dirty. It was pretty obvious and the server should have seen it. Then when I began eating my pancakes I happened to turn my fork over to stop the syrup from dripping, and saw almost the same looking dirt on the bottom. Turned them over and both of them had dirt all over the bottom. The waitress brought me new ones - both clean. The eggs and bacon were good, but that wasn't enough to justify going there again, especially with bad experiences in the past. The manager gave me 50% off my meal. Should have gotten it free. My daughter and I had to satisfy our craving for pancakes. I remembered that Denny's had a nice value menu so we exited off 101 to grab some. I was surprised to see that their value menu had two pancakes for $2.00 and could get one egg, a piece of bacon and pancakes for $4.00. So that's what we got. So this is the second time in the morning that we've gone to Denny's and it's always dirty in there and it's the same waitress well long story short I went in and I am injured so I asked for a private table because I didn't really want to be like in a crowded space because of my injuries and she put me in a table in the middle of a crowded space when there was other tables that were not occupied and more private Second I ordered my food and I got a double hamburger I ordered it plain with just meat and cheese and my family ordered as well long story short my food came out last and it was wrong it had all kinds of toppings on it that I didn't order and my son was missing his bacon so I let the waiter know got my burger was messed up mind you this is probably over $14 for the plate I had and so she took the plate box they scraped off the toppings and gave me back the same burger and what bothered me was what if I was allergic to one of the items on the plate and it was still dripped onto it and I would have got sick another thing is I still have like toppings underneath it so that's how I knew it was the same Burger they didn't make me a fresh one and second my son never got his side that he ordered and they were missing some other sides that my friend had ordered so instead of her giving me a discount for the mistake and the problems that came with my food not only that it was cold she gave my friend extra food for free extra country fried steak and charged him less money but charged my meal full price and did not fix it so I ended up with cold food that didn't taste well that I totally didn't order and I wouldn't recommend going in the morning so I don't know if this is a problem in the afternoon but in the morning this is the second time that we've gone in the food just wasn't right it was really really dirty today tables everything and the waitress just wasn't listening at all to me she would say okay but would do the exact opposite of everything I asked and mind you we paid probably over $40 for this order and the food just wasn't fresh hopefully this won't happen again but if I were in Camarillo again I would prefer IHOP over Denny's because I don't know if the morning service is very good the night time service I know nothing about but I just know that the few times I've gone in the morning have been pretty bad the service sucks the food sucks and it's unfortunate because I was excited thinking I was going to get something warm and stuff but it ended up being so bad that McDonald's sounded way better read more
