I haven't been to Yolanda's in years. It was always my favorite Mexican restaurant. I decided to go with my parents yesterday for my birthday dinner. Even though the food wasn't impressive this time, the customer service was! We sat on the lovely enclosed patio. Vanessa was our server. Her service was 5 star! She was friendly, checked in on us, and all around went above and beyond! The food was pretty good. I got the single portion chicken fajitas. The chicken was very tender. The dish as a whole was lacking flavor. Dare I say it could have even used salt. I was a bit disappointed, but very hungry. I ate half and took the rest home. My mom got the 2 item combo with a chili relleno and beef taco. She loves chili rellenos, but was not happy with hers. Her plate was covered in cheese, but the relleno had no sauce she said. The taco was just beef with a little cheese and a few strands of lettuce. Nothing like the pictures on Yelp. My dad got the taco burrito and he enjoyed his! We loved the chips, salsa, and bean dip! The young guy refilling chips/dip was on top of everything and very sweet! Although we weren't impressed this time with the taste of the food, I will definitely be back to try again! read more

Let's start by saying the customer service is on point and the waitresses were really nice and very attentive . The food not so great I ordered a steak and shrimp plate and let me tell you NO bueno so bland no flavors I ordered a medium well steak and that steak came out so dried and the shrimp had no taste just butter with no seasoning . We were greeted warmly and seated in a cozy booth. Chips and individual salsas came right away and then right after that, our drink order was taken. Darn, we wish we had seen the "salsa bar"--every choice there looked great. Our waitress took our order after delivering our House Margaritas--hubby had the Chili combo (Colorado, Verde, rice and refried beans) and I ordered the carnitas plate with rice and beans; flour tortillas came along. The customer service was very good. The interior of the restaurant was very nice. It was the first time I was in a Yolanda's (con mi ruca). We ordered drinks, the margaritas were very nice-they were not afraid to put some tequila in the drink, not too much but a nice amount. Our food came-combination chicken and steak fajitas. Very tasty. But the chile relleno we had as a starter was very good as well. The salsa bar was a nice addition. I was able to get some 'spicy' hot sauce that went well with the relleno. Forever a favorite! My family has been coming to this location for years and it's always a good experience! Chips and drinks are quick to arrive and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. This time I ordered a half order of guacamole and the street tacos. The standard Yolanda's salsa is the.best. but I love that there's also a salsa bar to choose from. Fantastic place ! The Mexican Food here is always an excellent meal. The service is always inviting and quick to serve. Everything on the menu has that authentic taste and large portioned size you would expect at a good Mexican restaurant. I have ordered pretty much everything on the menu and never once have been disappointed. Tonight's call was a traditional 3 entree combination plate consisting of 2 crunchy beef tacos and a chili relleno. Just outstanding. Actually so big of a plate that I couldn't finish it all. After a day of walking and shopping at the local Outlet stores we were hungry. The restaurant was busy on this Sunday evening but we were able to get a booth as soon as we walked in. Yolanda's is always a great choice if you want some authentic Mexican food. Been coming to their Oxnard Harbor & Camarillo locations for years. The Manager is always so welcoming and funny. I love their quick service. Everyone is helpful and really caters to you. After the gym I wanted a quick bite and their steamed veggies are scrumptious! Their bean dip is also really good! We ordered take out tonight for 9 people and it was a great choice! The girl who took the phone order was very nice, patient, and repeated the whole order. She said it would take 30 min so we got there within 10min and ordered a drink at the bar, by the time we got the drink and started sipping the food was ready, and everything was correct. The margaritas are strong and delicious and they put the ice in a separate container. The Baja burrito is literally one of the best burritos I have ever had!! It was full of flavor, from the shrimp to the chicken, everything. Them don't skimp on the shrimp and they are huge delicious and cooked perfectly. The chilli rellano was good, had a mild but flavorful sauce on top. My grandmother in law had the shrimp enchiladas and loved them. The salsa was also delicious, the add green onions to it. The food here is AMAZING, spectacular food, the service is also spot on, some of the servers here are sometimes rude, I don't know his name but hes sometimes rude, but besides that, all the servers here are amazing, also some other server, I think his name is Jose, he gave me and my mom free ice cream, and we didn't even ask for it, when he gave us the bill, it wasn't on there, like thats some good service, we gave him a good tip for that. The Ambiance of the restaurant and the music is also great, everything about this place is amazing, nothing bad about Yolanda's, maybe the only thing I could say about it is why they don't serve the bean dip on Friday-Sunday, only during Monday-Thursday, but besides that, its the best. 5 stars. read more

From the front, one would not know that this place is HUGE inside and busy. Service was quick. My friend and I asked for a booth and the hostess was nice to give us a booth for 6 people. I ordered the enchilada and tamale with rice and beans combo. Everything was baked together, so that there was no distinction between the two and tasted like mush. I grew up coming to yolanda's, it has always held a special place in my heart. One weekend we had asked the manager if we could have our Bunco party on their patio. They were so amazing. We ordered appetizers, drinks, food, dessert, had our game. So at the end of the year when we decided to have our end-of-the year bunco party and I TOLD THEM HOW THE PROCESS WOULD GO! They basically kicked us out. We were put on the patio and were told a party was coming and we had to move because they had signed a contract. We said we would have come earlier or a different day had we known but the manager was SO rude about it. When we were done with our game and wanted to order desserts he kicked us out and argued that we said it would have only be an hour more. We tried to explain that when we made the reservation we asked if how our party would go would be okay and if they would accommodate. If we needed to spend more money we would have, if they wanted a deposit, we would have paid that, but they didn't say anything about it and the manager was just awful. It's so sad that this place that has held such a sentimental place in my heart, since it's placement on saviors at the Centerpoint mall has been forever tarnished. I will never eat here again. My friends drove 2 hours to be here with us and it was so embarrassing to have been treated this way. After this humiliation and being treated like we weren't willing to pay whatever they want, I just can't describe it. Just never again. read more

This is my go to place for fajitas. The sauce they use is so tasty and the carmelized onions on the sizzling skillet are the best part. Chicken was tender and I like to substitute other veggies (broccoli, carrots and zucchini) for the bell peppers. The accompanying cheesy beans, pico de gallo and guacamole are consistently good. The house salsa is always fresh and chips are served hot! Service was pleasant. The dining room is nicely decorated with murals and it feels like you're in a Mexican cantina. I feel torn about our experience. The good was great, but our order was forgotten about and we were sitting for two hours before we received food. And that was after I went and asked about it because I hadn't seen our waiter in so long. Has it just been me and my husband it would have been annoying but not terrible. However we had a 5 year old, 2 year old, and 1 week old with us at this fundraiser night. When we got the food it wasn't bad. But the kids were so done at that point we basically just boxed the food up immediately so we could leave. Maybe we'll try this place again as take out. For my Mother's 89th Birthday we headed out to Yolanda's off of Victoria Rd in Oxnard. Everything we ordered was perfect and we'll return again. The waiters even sang for my mother and she very much enjoyed. We had a table overlooking the marina and the weather was exceptional that day. Totally separated from the parking lot. Nice! I got a combination dish ($18)with chile relleno and a chicken enchilada. Comes with a very large side of rice and beans. The chile relleno was outstanding. The enchilada was just OK. My wife got a tostada salad ($18) which was excellent. Omar, our server, was excellent. Yolanda's is the staple for Ventura County Mexican food. I remember starting to go here (not this location, but the original one in Oxnard) in the middle to late '80s. This location continues the same tradition. We have always been very happy with the food and the service. One thing you will notice and by chatting with the servers, as many of them have been there for decades. They seem to take very good care of their employees, which is not typical in the restaurant industry. This location has been a great one for birthdays, anniversaries, happy hours for work, and pretty much any occasion. The food has always been good and consistent and the service has always been top shelf (like the margaritas). They can get busy - which I guess is challenging - but good things come to those who wait. Overall Review = Fair. I would not recommend Yolanda's. We visited Yolanda's after being referred by someone at the Amtrak train station. We sat on the outdoor patio. The service was good. The ambiance was okay. However, the food was underwhelming. My companion had the shrimp fajitas and I had a combination plate. Unfortunately the food was not seasoned well and I was unable to eat my meal. We ordered a drink flight and that was the highlight of the meal. The $70 price tag was disappointing and NOT worth it. Had the seafood burrito & I changed up the sauce so I asked her to do the cream sauce that they put on the shrimp enchiladas, instead of the tomatillo sauce that normally comes on the seafood burrito. We love coming here! Great chips and salsa plus an awesome salsa bar. We usually sit at the bar and the last couple times an older gentleman has been back there. I wish I knew his name but service is always friendly. He literally is one of the best bartenders around. He can walk circles around all those snooty bartenders in town. My tea is always full and he doesn't miss anything! I usually get the cheese enchiladas or the chicken fajitas which are both fantastic. If your looking for a little appetizer don't skip the bean dip or albondigas soup. My husband enjoys their regular margarita or skinny. The restaurant itself is always clean and there is always a manager roaming around making things run smoothly. I can't forget about the bus boys that are constantly on top refilling chips and salsa. Why have I not dined at this location before?! I've been to the other Yolanda's locations in Ventura, Simi, & especially in Oxnard... Maybe because I didn't know how great it was to dine here. Love the patio area! It's outdoors but still pretty secluded around the perimeter. The outside heaters were perfect for a chilly evening. I can't get enough of their chips & salsa. I'll devour a tray of chips & a salsa cup to myself. Try their spicy bean dip. Don't worry it's not too spicy, it's more cheesy. Food portions are huge! Love their Happy Hour. FYI Happy Hour is Monday-Fridays from 3pm-6pm. Yolanda's Margaritas! I just can't steer away from them. My usual is a regular Margarita on the rocks. But it seems like they've added more flavors to the menu. Oh yes! The Banana Margarita was actually good, even for someone that doesn't care for banana flavors. I use to love Yolanda's but after my most recent experience, it is time for me to say goodbye and move on. I went to an event at this location and while the food was good, the service was not. Especially the manager. First of all, our group did our gift exchange while we waited for the food. We then ate and sat there waiting for quite sometime to get the table cleared so that we can move onto the next part of the event. I had to actually go look for someone to ask if we could get our tables bussed. On top of that, a few of my fellow guests had to go hunt down the server to place alcoholic drink orders. When my drink arrived, the server was in so much of a rush that when she placed the drink on the table she spilled on my phone. We weren't checked up on and service was just slow. Then we were asked to move from the patio to a private room inside, which we did happily when it was explained to us that the patio was booked for an event during the time of ours, even though our host called a month prior to book ours and was told we were good to go even after explaining our event expectations and communicating whether it would be possible for them to accommodate us, which they assured us they could. We explained that we were going to be a little loud and were assured by the manager it would be okay in the private room. The room we were moved into was also the space the employees used to take their breaks. Again, while we were in there continuing our event, we were rarely checked up on and we wanted to place more alcoholic drink orders. Again, we had to find someone to do that. When we were finishing up our event and looking into ordering desserts, the manager approached and demanded we leave because we were taking up space and they had a wait. We mentioned we were looking to order desserts but he refused us and demanded us to leave. As we were being rushed out, we almost didn't get a chance to close out our open tab. The waitress had caught us right before leaving and asked why we were going. We told her we were being kicked out and she became extremely apologetic. We of course paid our tab off but we felt bad for the server cause we were going to order more, which would have meant a nice tip for her. As we left we noticed there were no guests at the front waiting to be seated and the host told us everyone had been seated. When looking back at the room, the tables we were using were still empty. It made no sense why we were being treated the way we were. The only explanation I can come up with is that we were a large group of women and the manager is male. Perhaps gender discrimination? It was very embarrassing and I have never in my life been kicked out of a restaurant. I have worked in customer service and the service industry so, I understand the stresses they go through and therefore, always am respectful. Needless to say, I will never be a customer there again because it is obvious my money isn't welcomed there. Just know if you have a big group or would like to host a nice holiday event, this Yolanda's is NOT the place to do that. read more

The relleno lad the seeds left in, the outer coating was granular--not sure how they made them, but disappointing. Will come for the taco again, but a la crate this time. read more
