I ordered two Chorizo burritos for take out which were flavorful and cooked to perfection. The tortillas were tasty too as they seem home made. Lots of baked goods that are priced very reasonable. Since moving to Camarillo from Oxnard, we always see this place when going to SmartNFinal but they're closed because it's late in the evening. One day, we wanted breakfast and finally got to try it because GoodMorningCafe was closed. We saw it was pretty busy lots of people going in and out. That must mean its good! We saw the selection of breads but didn't have what we normally like from panaderias. Decided to try their champurrado and cheese tamales with rajas. Service wise. They were quick, attentive, and nice. No complaints. Food came out quick. Champurrado is self serve. We got a large ($4) It was really thick and hot. We'd give it a 8/10. Tamales smelled sooo good. ($3ea) We were excited but our first bite said everything. They were just okay. They tasted too much like lard? Kind of soft/mushy and the rajas werent spicy. They were just soggy. 4.5/10 We'll probably come back here for the champurrado again and maybe try their tortas. This is the place in Camarillo to stop by for a quick bite to eat or something sweet. You are greeted as you walk to the cashier and the customer service is always great. Usually I get food to go but you can sit down inside if you'd like. I have tried the fruit tarts, burritos, and tamales here. All excellent choices and I will try more things as I visit over time. Cute little Panaderia in Camarillo for breakfast and brunch. I'd be hearing good things about this spot but I'm not much of a sweets girl so hadn't wandered in but that finally changed today. After my morning workout I really wanted something filling but that I could take with me on the go. This bakery isn't far from my gym and a tamale felt like it would totally hit the spot. Parking is a breeze here there is plenty. I've heard and seen this place get pretty busy in the morning so for a better selection of bakery goods might help to come early. I can around 9am and there was just a short line inside. Not too busy but not dead. The pastry and breads case was beautiful. So many items to choose from it can be a little overwhelming in a good way. I am no expert on Mexican desserts and breads, as I said I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I did walk away with a cake/bread with frosting and sprinkles just because I wanted to be adventurous. Their hot foods menu is small but definitely has all of the major staples one would want for breakfast and lunch. There were breakfast plates, burritos, tacos, tortas, and tamales. A good variety. They had some pre-squeezed juices lined up and not too many cakes or pastries out yet on the main shelves, those might come out closer to lunch. I got a pork tamale and I can say it was delicious. The best tamale I've had in Camarillo so far. It was moist and flavorful. A good size but not huge. The pork has a small hint of spice and was very tasty. I will definitely be back for their tamales know that I know how good they are here. Staff were friendly and efficient at moving the line. The gentlemen that helped me at the counter spoke to me in Spanish and we made it work. Very friendly and nice. He rang me up and grabbed me a fresh tamale, I was in and out of there quick. I highly recommend the huevos rancheros and the caldo de pollo (chicken soup). I've been going to this place for 5 years and the service is always exceptional. At a price point that's better than fast food such as McDonalds, you can get fresher, more delicious meals at Doris Bakery Panaderia. The Pan Dulce or sweet bread is so good that I had to stop purchasing it daily because I was getting gordito. Ha ha! The pasteles/cakes are very good as well if you get a sweet tooth after a nice meal. Viva DBP!!! read more

Wanted to love this place. Did not love the pan. Got polvorones and bolillo. Not very good. Clean place and great service. Bought masa for tamales and it was good! We are still fans of another bakery in Oxnard for the masa but it's so expensive now. This place is affordable and the tamales came out great. Masa here is $2.50 a lb and it's tasty. I think that's why I'd rate them a close 4. It's hard to find a good masa place. Only the pan I didn't like. My fam and I will be purchasing masa here from now on. I would not recommend the pan as the flavor isn't there for me.The bolillo was not what I'm used to and just a different texture. Just not my preference. You may like it .. check them out! I have gone to this establishment a handful of times and the last 2 have been disappointing. I will not be going back. The first poor experience I thought it was an off day but the this past Sunday was obvious that this is how they do business. I ordered half a dozen chicken tamales. They lead you to believe that they are well filled becuase they are large and heavy but the amount of chicken was a complete joke. Literally there was less chicken than the size of my pinky in each one! I also ordered 6 bollios which they don't have out front for you to grab on your own, they bring them from the back and put them in a bag and knot the bag when they bring it out to you so you don't see them till you get home. This broad had the nerve to give me 2 moldy breads and one even had a blue stain on half of it. It was disgusting. I will say that the only thing good was the champurrado. Yeah I thought their cake making improvements improved I was 100% WRONG!!! I'm done ordering from them AT ALL I came to pick up my husbands cake and got a brown cake with yellow icing on it. WTH is that. (I smudged the letters that was my bad) BUT how do you mess up this badly, I showed them this inspired pic and to make it like this except the money and they gave me that.... I told them it was fine that they couldn't add the exact gold that this yellow was fine but what happened to the rest of the yellow where it was supposed to be?! After growing up in Texas and living in Mexico, I'm very particular about Mexican food - especially tamales. I reached out to neighbors via the NextDoor app asking for recommendations for tamales in the Camarillo/Oxnard/Port Hueneme/Ventura area. After all, this is the time of year for them but I learned that Doris' makes tamales all year long!!!!!!!! I visited on December 23rd and the place was hopping - with large pre-order pick ups, same day to-go purchases and in-store dining. Worth noting they have a full bakery with indoor and outdoor seating here. The sales associate was really patient and helpful, answering all of my questions regardless of how busy they were. I got some to go and warmed them up the next day to have for Christmas Eve. WOW, what fantastic tamales! The ratio of masa to filling is perfect in each of them. CHEESE & PEPPERS: The cheese is the right amount to melt in with the rajas and masa without being gooey. Warning - this one is a bit on the spicier side but I loved it. CHICKEN: The chicken is perfectly shredded and seasoned. I used both red and green salsas and liked both equally but the red packs more heat. I have found my new go-to tamale place and can't wait to get more. What a gem! read more

I'm all for a good tamale and Doris' panaderia did not disappoint! The sell have 3 kinds: chicken in green sauce, pork in red sauce, and rajas and cheese. They had ample filling (none of that all masa trickery) and each tamale stayed warm and moist even an hour after we picked them up. They were all good, but the rajas one was my fav - it was slightly spicy, flavorful and moist. They packed up the tamales in two styrofoam boxes with both green and red sauces. It was $25 for a dozen. Note that there are napkins and utensils on the counter. Also, if you want pan dulce and pastries they are individually wrapped right now. The service was exceptional, definetely they have great customer service, although the kitchen closed at 7 pm I was able to get a whole dozen of tamales 6 chicken with green sauce and 6 pork with red sauce all for $30. This is one of the only panderia's in Camarillo. I love the authenticity of Doris'. They're tamales are 10/10. We get a dozen every year for Christmas. I loveee their Chile Quiles.
