Bakery goods

Small bakery with a decent selection of baked goods. We tried the breakfast burrito subbed with carne asada, lengua and pastor tacos, and a chicken tamale. Overall, quality was just mediocre. There is also a 3.5% fee to use a credit card.

Christian did an amazing job decorating our cake for a special holiday event! Yummy cake, great service.

Such a beautiful job decorating a cake for our holiday event Thank you Christian. The cake was yummy, the service was excellent and the prices are very reasonable.

Cute little Panaderia in Camarillo for breakfast and brunch. I'd be hearing good things about this spot but I'm not much of a sweets girl so hadn't wandered in but that finally changed today. After my morning workout I really wanted something filling but that I could take with me on the go. This bakery isn't far from my gym and a tamale felt like it would totally hit the spot. Parking is a breeze here there is plenty. I've heard and seen this place get pretty busy in the morning so for a better selection of bakery goods might help to come early. I can around 9am and there was just a short line inside. Not too busy but not dead. The pastry and breads case was beautiful. So many items to choose from it can be a little overwhelming in a good way. I am no expert on Mexican desserts and breads, as I said I don't have much of a sweet tooth but I did walk away with a cake/bread with frosting and sprinkles just because I wanted to be adventurous. Their hot foods menu is small but definitely has all of the major staples one would want for breakfast and lunch. There were breakfast plates, burritos, tacos, tortas, and tamales. A good variety. They had some pre-squeezed juices lined up and not too many cakes or pastries out yet on the main shelves, those might come out closer to lunch. I got a pork tamale and I can say it was delicious. The best tamale I've had in Camarillo so far. It was moist and flavorful. A good size but not huge. The pork has a small hint of spice and was very tasty. I will definitely be back for their tamales know that I know how good they are here. Staff were friendly and efficient at moving the line. The gentlemen that helped me at the counter spoke to me in Spanish and we made it work. Very friendly and nice. He rang me up and grabbed me a fresh tamale, I was in and out of there quick. Nice people work here and the tamales are delicious, I will be back.

Ordered food for my jobs team meeting. I loved my simple burrito. The ingredients are really fresh and I'm a big fan of the red salsa.

Wanted to love this place. Did not love the pan. Got polvorones and bolillo. Not very good. Clean place and great service. Bought masa for tamales and it was good! We are still fans of another bakery in Oxnard for the masa but it's so expensive now. This place is affordable and the tamales came out great. Masa here is $2.50 a lb and it's tasty. I think that's why I'd rate them a close 4. It's hard to find a good masa place. Only the pan I didn't like. My fam and I will be purchasing masa here from now on. I would not recommend the pan as the flavor isn't there for me.The bolillo was not what I'm used to and just a different texture. Just not my preference. You may like it .. check them out! I do think their pan and other items they offer are a more reasonable price than other places.

I ordered same day. Gave them an inspo pic and they delivered! Beautiful detail. Pearls, pink, and small "flowers". I can always count on this bakery to exceed my expectations. Very friendly as well.

Food in the trash

In my opinion Very disappointed food used to be good. Ordered the asada plate, the rice felt hard and not cooked, beans were flavorless. The asada was thought almost rubbery. Ended up not finishing up my lunch and tossed the food in the trash.

Yeah I thought their cake making improvements improved I was 100% WRONG!!! I'm done ordering from them AT ALL I came to pick up my husbands cake and got a brown cake with yellow icing on it. WTH is that. (I smudged the letters that was my bad) BUT how do you mess up this badly, I showed them this inspired pic and to make it like this except the money and they gave me that.... I told them it was fine that they couldn't add the exact gold that this yellow was fine but what happened to the rest of the yellow where it was supposed to be?! I had to resort and put whipped cream around the cake because I was so embarrassed to give my husband the cake. Good job at ruining it!!!!!

Tres Leches with fresh Strawberries in the center and whipped cream icing

One of the best tasting tres Leches cakes I've had! This is a very friendly family bakery with great service. I ordered a simple sheet cake for a Baby Shower. It was well priced, nicely decorated, fresh and delicious!! Everyone raved about how good it tasted! I will definitely be back!

Cheese and pepper tamale with red & green salsas

After growing up in Texas and living in Mexico, I'm very particular about Mexican food - especially tamales. I reached out to neighbors via the NextDoor app asking for recommendations for tamales in the Camarillo/Oxnard/Port Hueneme/Ventura area. After all, this is the time of year for them but I learned that Doris' makes tamales all year long!!!!!!!! I visited on December 23rd and the place was hopping - with large pre-order pick ups, same day to-go purchases and in-store dining. Worth noting they have a full bakery with indoor and outdoor seating here. The sales associate was really patient and helpful, answering all of my questions regardless of how busy they were. I got some to go and warmed them up the next day to have for Christmas Eve. WOW, what fantastic tamales! The ratio of masa to filling is perfect in each of them. CHEESE & PEPPERS: The cheese is the right amount to melt in with the rajas and masa without being gooey. Warning - this one is a bit on the spicier side but I loved it. CHICKEN: The chicken is perfectly shredded and seasoned. I used both red and green salsas and liked both equally but the red packs more heat. I have found my new go-to tamale place and can't wait to get more. What a gem!

Even though the food wasn't impressive this time, the customer service was! We sat on the lovely enclosed patio. Vanessa was our server. Her service was 5 star! She was friendly, checked in on us, and all around went above and beyond! The food was pretty good. I got the single portion chicken fajitas. The chicken was very tender. The dish as a whole was lacking flavor. Dare I say it could have even used salt. I was a bit disappointed, but very hungry. I ate half and took the rest home. My mom got the 2 item combo with a chili relleno and beef taco. She loves chili rellenos, but was not happy with hers. Her plate was covered in cheese, but the relleno had no sauce she said. The taco was just beef with a little cheese and a few strands of lettuce. Nothing like the pictures on Yelp. My dad got the taco burrito and he enjoyed his! We loved the chips, salsa, and bean dip! The young guy refilling chips/dip was on top of everything and very sweet! Although we weren't impressed this time with the taste of the food, I will definitely be back to try again!

I was one of Hectors biggest fans until today. Came in. I was literally the only person there. Ordered two tacos to eat there. The older incredibly RUDE lady began packing up my order and I said I was eating there. She angrily snapped at me. "Did you say so when you ordered". I said "Yes". Then things got even worse when I had the audacity to ask for ONE extra salsa. Just one. She immediately began talking CRAP about me (RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME) in Spanish. BIG mistake. While I might look like a gringa, I grew up in Mexico. I am Mexican. Spanish is my first language. How dare she start talking crap about me for politely asking for one extra salsa REALLY!!!! I understood every grunt of vile disgust coming from her. Hector, we have met. We've talked. We've laughed when I told you you needed to serve beer. You can see my previous review. HOW CAN YOU LET THIS HAPPEN???? I would tell absolutely everyone about your amazing tacos. NOT ANY MORE. I am so disgusted. She thought I was white and she could disrespect me because I wouldn't understand and you weren't there. Are you serious??? This is what you allow to represent your business. You raise your prices and allow your staff to trash talk the customers. Mind blown. Loyal customer LOST. I UNDERSTAND THE WORLD IS CRAZY RIGHT NOW BUT THIS WAS LITERALLY REVERSE RACISM. The decor is a blast from the past and looks like it did inside when I first stated coming here, so they haven't done much to the place but to me that gives this spot that old school charm. I personally love the old time decor and owls all around the restaurant. I find their booths to be cozy and comfortable. The menu is also pretty large with all of the classic dishes. The staff have always been nice when I've come in. They are attentive, friendly and the food is whipped up quickly. Happy hour menu seems to bring in the crowds but I do think there are other places with a happy hour menu that gives you more bang for your buck than here. The food is average in many ways but very comforting. Probably I'd rate all of the different dishes I've tried between 3.5-4 stars depending what you get. I really love their albondigas soup and that's one of my favs. Never steers me wrong. Also their crunchy shell tacos aren't bad. I came for a beef taco with rice and beans and was pleasantly surprised. My last pro tip is the margaritas are stellar. Huge fan of their mango marg and I'd come back for this alone. Just at $15 that's a little hefty for a hole in the wall spot like this. Same with the food. Two margs and two simple smaller main plates ran us $70 after tax and tip.
