Ok. Still looking for a place to take my little girl! Anyone? Anyone? Went to ihop after stopping by Barnes and Noble to buy some kids books last Saturday night. It was crazy. There were staff members fighting in the back. Food was coming out helter skelter. The waitress was mixing milk chocolate to order on a dining room table. I finally became so frustrated, I got up to leave and asked for our food to go. She was really sweet and overwhelmed (hence two stars), but could not figure out how to work the register. I dropped the money and abandoned the food. Look,.... I do this for a living too. I get how crazy and difficult people can be. But this review is on the owner. June 18th @ 12:30 pm We walk in, no waiting and we were seated right away Ok, my booth seat was not comfortable because it felt sinking right in the middle under my butt, I mentioned it to the hostess which she moved us somewhere else then that seat had a big bump right in the middle as well under my butt as I sat which felt REALLY uncomfortable, I mentioned this also to the hostess which she moved our seat again to more a comfortable seating arrangement (felt like a scene from Goldie Locks and the 3 Bears). IHOP used to be great place to eat affordably but not anymore, I spent $37.56 on 3 simple breakfasts for the 3 people (I had 3 scrambled eggs with hash browns and water, my wife and daughter just wanted pancakes and water) tip included and left not feeling full or satisfied with what I spent plus our meals were not as ordered the 1st time! Our server Gina was ok but a little to attentive because she had nothing better to do especially when it came to pay the bill since it was not busy. We had finished our meal, just relaxing and having a conversation and noticed our server pacing back and forth looking at us and she had the audacity to say "when are you paying the bill?". My wife was in awe, gave her the credit card not in a nice way and I asked for the manager who was not present to complain after I told our server "you or any employee are not supposed to ask a customer that!" then we left pissed to never return! The pictures below does nothing for me or make want to rush and eat @ IHOP and the people in the pictures must be relatives or employees to look happy or like they are enjoying themselves because most or all of the people that I know say IHOP sucks or is going down hill especially the Wolf Road location looks run down! I've been bringing my family to his IHOP for almost 15 years. I travel alot and would always stop at IHOP for b-fast whenever i can and this IHOP was always THE best. Not in recent months. What a turn-around. Long waits for cold food when it's not busy and even longer when it is. Though the service tries, it just seems like there's no management anymore. I'm not sure what's happening.. i know that this plce was the same owner as the IHOP in Clifton Park and this one was always better than the CP location. I mentioned it to the owner a long time ago and he said he had troubke finding good help in CP. It looks like the same has happened or, he sold both businesses to new management that has no clue. Right off the NY Thruway=convenient. Crappy, broke-down decor. Kinda dirty and gross. Poo stains on toilet in ladies room, and the seat was up like a dude had been in there. No paper towels so you have to touch the weird flip lock on the door to lock/unlock. This was actually pretty good (granted my expectations were LOW): Spinach, Roasted Red Pepper & Cheese Griddle Melt (which secretly has an omelette in it), but my fries were way overdone--and it says you can choose from "your choice of hash browns, seasoned fries or seasonal fruit" but the fries were not seasoned, just plain, overcooked, and dried out. The ambiance was dead and sad. A lot of glum faces on the customers. Although the staff was boisterous and cheerful enough. Starbucks right across the parking lot! read more

Despite the other reviews, I think they're great. Sometimes the floors are a but messy, however the employees quickly sweep when they notice the mess. The people are great and Have a good sense of humor. I like the original stack of 5 pancakes. I also typically get hash browns and bacon. So far, so good! read more

Terrible. The first clue was an empty parking lot at 8 am. We had to ask for the table to be wiped clean. The breakfast was cold and there was no cash register! The waitress cashed us out from her apron. Also the floors were filthy. We warned the next customers away on our way out. Unfortunately there was no one to warn us. read more

Great breakfast place! The place is fairly cramped, but it's a diner and you can't expect a lavish table preparation. The pancakes and sausage are great and the hash browns are really, really good. I travel quite a bit and usually IHOP is a go to place. You get what you expect and is a good comfort food. But when I took my seat and look up and see one of the employees walking out with his pants below his hips I will have to forego ever walking back in the IHOP on Wolf Road in Albany again and I hope I can get that vision out of my mind so I can visit another location without prejudging. Sorry if this is a crude post but I think other people should know in advance what to expect. read more

3 stars for the consistent mediocre service IHOP all around the US have. So to say this IHOP was understaffed would be an understatement. But we did still get out food within 20 mins of eneterjng the store and it was good. So I can't complain too much. The staff I guess is working with the best of what they got. I've been coming here for years but as of last year the food and service plummeted. The last few times I stopped in, I waited at least an hour for poorly prepared food on nights where there was just a hand full of people seated. I'm not sure what the delay is being that they generally precook most of what they're serving (hash browns, bacon, sausage) and have it sitting under the heating lamp. The last time I went, we waited 45 minutes just to find out that my order was never even put in. I say throw the staff and cooks out and start from scratch. The kitchen is directly in front of the door. To get seating you have to bump into waiters and servers before you get a seat 6 inches from other patrons. The small area inside makes it extra loud and crowded adding to the stress of being able to enjoy a meal, which wasn't that great either. Visited mid-morning, so there was no wait. The dining room is a bit cramped and the decor is what you expect for IHOP. Our server was excellent. The food was a little slower to come out than I would have expected, but was very good once it arrived. Our party's order included pancakes, eggs, bacon, and a hamburger. Overall this location is like other IHOPs, so that should set your expectations. read more

Was very upset, me and the girlfriend got there excited, waited for awhile. Nobody ever came to us. That was fine, we placed our order about a hr later we were told it would take a little longer, meanwhile people were coming in and being served and finishing their meals paying and leaving. I was so confused Alexis kept saying she was sorry, my girlfriend asked if she could just bring whatever's done so it didn't get cold, she says well nothings really done the pancakes weren't made yet. Can't go wrong with IHOP when it's good! Today was quite good. Tried out the new Mocha Cream pancakes and they were really delicious and filling. Got a combo with scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and hash browns. Everything was good, though the underside of the hash browns was cooked too long and was crunchy. Cook the hash browns 2 minutes less and they should be good! read more

I haven't been here for years, and let me tell you why. Probably circa 2003ish, my mother and I were at Colonie Center and decided to get a late breakfast at ihop. It was autumn, and they had a special on pumpkin pancakes. Sounds delicious, right? So I order them, and ask very politely for them not to put whipped cream on the order, as I am lactose intollerant. The waitress brings the pancakes covered in the largest mound of whipped cream I'd ever seen. So my mother reminds her of my allergy and asks to send them back for fresh pancakes that aren't covered in lactose. About a minute later the waitress brings back the plate and sits it in front of me. I pick up the top flapjack with my fork and flip it over. She had taken the pancakes into the kitchen, scraped the whipped cream off them, then put them back on the griddle to burn off the risidual whipped cream. Leaving the pancakes not only still sopped in melted whipped cream, but now completely black on the bottom. Keep it classy, ihop! read more

TV ads said kids eat free through May 6. My kids had never been to an IHOP. After tonight I doubt they'll return to one unless they're desperate. So, quick synopsis: 5 pm Friday, place mostly deserted. Funny smell, dirty floors. Hostess seated us immediately and then got weird when we said we were from Vermont and came over to shop. She must have thought I said Ukraine from the way she was acting. Clue for ya: VT is right next to NY. It's a short drive for us. Service adequate, low expectations on food quality were met. Kids being Vermonters, were disgusted with the lack of "real" maple syrup. Had to explain the concept of food costs. Pancakes actually tasty. Not sure what the butter-like substance on top was, but it did melt. Eggs tasted overwhelmingly like griddle grease. Chicken components of the chicken and waffles dish were straight-up Sysco freezer food. Soda was flat and watery. Wife had turkey bacon and felt sorry for the turkey. All in all, I'd say it was low-grade diner food, and exorbitantly expensive for what we got. We had to actually ask for the advertised promotion; the kids ate for free and still felt they got ripped off. My advice? Don't. Just. Don't. read more

The IHOP in Schenectady sucks! The service was awful. Not only did my guest and I waited for over an HOUR for our meal, so did ALL the customers. When the food finally came, I walked out. I would NEVER go back and I recommend that NOBODY goes here, unless they love the lack of service and food that is very below average. read more

Seated right away but the wait time was extremely long. The back of house staff was unprofessional and continuously spoke inappropriately about the wait staff. Went here during the afternoon and it was dead only one car in the parking lot and I thought it was closed. There was only one family inside, staff were sitting around, there were flies inside the restaurant not like one or two but like 6 in our seating area. As we were walking to our seat there were dirty dishes of half eaten food like it has been sitting there from breakfast. It was so gross and disgusting I felt terrible to walk in. I didn't even order food I walked out after letting it all soak in. Its a shame it used to be a great place and now it looks like a run down dinner just keeping alive because of its name....
