It was your typical IHOP experience. Great and sassy staff, crappy coffee with great creamer, lip stick on the coffee glass and hair in my food. The IHOP itself was super cute though. It reminded me of one my family always went too. Very small and all of the things going on at once. All in all, it is what it is. Don't have high expectations, but good for a quick pop in and out. They did have pumpkin pancakes though and those were PHENOMENAL!!

I first reviewed this ihop almost two years ago with 5 stars, and I'm not at all thrilled about needing to give them 1 star with this update. Picture this: You and your plus one arrive for brunch and the restaurant is packed, but you're determined to wait so put your name down and are told it'll be about 15-20 minutes till they can get you a table. You take a seat on the bench and watch and listen to the hubbub. After 20 minutes, you get a table and, because you know exactly what you want, order the spinach and mushroom omelette with pancakes without hesitation. While you chat away and see other diners get seated, you notice the folks who either got seated after you or got their orders in after you all get their food before you, and there's still no word on when your order will come out. Naturally, this does not make you feel great, and you start wondering whether the server registered your order at all. You get up and look for any staff member to ask about what's going on, when all of a sudden, a male staff who appears to be a shift supervisor of sort starts corraling you towards your table. You start telling him that you've waited a long time and still haven't got your meal and that you've noticed other folks who arrived after you get their food already. Then, while standing over your table, the man says to you, 'You got your food right here. Here's your food' while gesturing and displaying a demeanor that clearly communicated, 'you sit your butt down and eat your food. We got you your food, so what more could you possibly want from us?' before walking away. Then a short while later, the server who was mun throughout this, came around asking if everything was OK. You say no, and her first response is that she's not going to apologise for what the manager said or did. Then she goes on to tell you that she already knew from the beginning that your food was going to be delayed because only certain staff in the kitchen can cook omelette. If I were the manager or supervisor, I would have led with a variation of 'hey, can I help you with anything?' instead of corraling me like you would livestock. I would have listened to the diner and apologised for the delay and perhaps help them understand the reason for the delay. And if I were the server and knew in advance that my customer's order was going to be delayed for whatever reason, I would have given them a heads-up. They say that you'll seldom remember exactly what a person said to you but you'll always remember how they made you feel. Today, two staff members at this ihop clearly demonstrated the don'ts of hospitality and customer service, and I remember exactly how they made me feel. I hope they continue to improve. I wish them well.

One positive- plenty of room for parking. The three of us arrived to an empty restaurant, told that we had we could not be seated until the last two of our group arrived. Food was as expected when compared to service. Low quality. If you want a better breakfast maybe Mc Donald's would help.

This IHOP was a great experience. They sat us immediately despite it being a little busy. Our server was attentive and personable. The food came out quickly and was delicious! 5 stars.

Crispy potatoes which come 2-3 minutes after getting your main dish.

Was it Something We Said? IHOP. You either love it or hate it. Our visit to the Wolf Rd location in Albany pushed us over to the 'hate it' camp. As with many other IHOPs these days, the restaurant is run down which makes me question the 'excellent' inspection rating they have posted in the waiting area. Regardless, the restaurant was full and we put our name on the host list. Getting passed by on the wait list should have been a sign of things to come. It's bad enough when they skip your name. It's worse when they shrug it off saying the other couple was ahead of yours somehow which was a lie as I suggested the couple put their name on the list as they came through the doors after us. The hostess was wrapping silverware bundles and texting on her phone at the same time. I was sickened a bit thinking how cell phones are covered with germs (about 25,127 bacteria per square inch, The Seattle Times). As the next table became available, the hostess put aside her phone and silverware to seat us, provide us with menus, and then toss down two plastic silverware sets in sealed plastic. While I knew these would be clean, what IHOP uses plastic silverware? Our server was the only redeeming part of our meal. She promptly took our order, offered a good substitute suggestion of crispy potatoes, and answered my question about the plastic ware. She didn't understand it herself as she usually works in another location. She happily provided us silverware - unbundled meaning the text-happy hostess didn't grub them up with her dirty hands. We waited. And waited. We proceeded to watch three tables seated after us get their meals. One table even finished their meals and left before ours arrived...without our side potatoes. They would be another 2-3 minutes. I saw on the menu that IHOP now adds pancake batter to their omelets. I didn't think much of it when I read it, but I sure thought about it as I tried eating my Tex-Mex-inspired omelet. It was not a good match. My husband ordered a make-your-own omelet that included 'fresh tomatoes.' They were not. My Chicken Fajita omelet came with grilled chicken breast, Poblano and red bell peppers, roasted onions, and a cheese blend. I asked if they could leave out the bell peppers and was told they could not as it was already mixed. From the taste of it, the vegetables come in a bag that they slice open and warm open. They were watery, definitely not roasted, and lacking any real flavor. The grilled chicken was not grilled. There was nothing fresh about either of our omelets. We had a gift certificate for IHOP but wish we had tossed it. I do not recommend going to this IHOP or any other IHOP.

I had the lavender mocktail which came with actual pieces of lavender in it and my husband had the other mocktail offered. Both had beautiful presentation that was so enticing! For food I had the chicken skewers which for hot honey was NOT spicy in the least so don't let that scare you away if you're sensitive to spice it's incredibly mild. I wish a small bit of rice/zucchini or something was served with the chicken to fill out the meal but the chicken itself was SO yummy!! we also ordered the shoestring truffle french fries and we were a little nervous cause shoestring could be really thin, but these were the perfect size. They weren't too thin and they were so yummy. My husband ordered the salmon and that equally was perfect, served with quinoa. After we both had the raspberry cake for dessert! I found the dessert to be larger than the dinner for myself and I had a hard time finishing it so my husband finished his and mine lol it was so so good!! it's a beautiful dining room with the screened in porch. There is a champagne vending machine for mimosas. If you come for brunch, they also offer catering. That probably speaks for itself in terms of why you would want to avoid this place, but here's a little more for good measure. The service was slow, despite the fact that there was almost no one in the restaurant - empty drinks, food taking at least twice as long as it should, not coming back to check on pretty much anything, servers just standing around on their phones, etc. Also, my breakfast potatoes were slimy and not very warm, and my toast was barely toasted and limp. However, the biggest issue for me is that they were not even going to take this tangy salmonella special off the bill until I insisted. They made my son another one, which we ended up taking to go because it took so long that my other son and I were done eating. Evidently, they thought that simply taking the wrap back and not charging us for it would be an acceptable resolution to serving raw chicken (for the record, the only acceptable reaction would have been apologizing in horror, remaking the wrap, and comping our whole bill). When I expressed to the woman at the register that it is dangerous to serve raw chicken to someone, she argued that they were chicken tenders. I think this means she thought they came frozen and already cooked, which is even more concerning and would explain why they are not cooking things thoroughly. Wow. For your own well-being, stay far away from this place.

Admittedly I'm a bit delayed in writing this review so some of what I tried was seasonal dependent as I got a hot apple cider for a drink. To eat, I got a crepe and side of sausage! The restaurant was really spacious and had lots of natural light which provided a lovely ambiance. Despite growing up in upstate NY, getting to sit at Skinny Pancake felt like a nice, peaceful perspective I hadn't received before. The food being delicious was the cherry on top. Unfortunately they were short staffed, and many people were sat at tables and still waiting for food. We were told it was going to be a 10-15minute wait and that we cannot be seated (although it is a self order type of thing?) We were not allowed to sit at the table just to sit. We were offered the couch until they were ready. However as we were waiting, other parties came in and directly walked up to the register? This was my second time here--my first visit was dining in with friends, and this time I ordered takeout. Both experiences were consistently impressive. Known for its Ethiopian dishes and outstanding vegan cuisine, Umana Yana brings African culture to life through its vibrant décor, flavorful food, and thoughtfully crafted drinks. Every detail reflects passion and authenticity. It's no surprise that actress Tabitha Brown made a stop in Albany to experience the restaurant's highly praised vegan offerings. That's a testament to the reputation they've built. For my meal, I ordered the jerk lamb lollipops, jollof rice, and slaw. The lamb was tender, juicy, and packed with just the right amount of jerk seasoning. The jollof rice was rich, well-seasoned, and full of flavor, while the slaw added a fresh, crisp balance to the meal. On my previous visit, I tried the wings and waffles, and they were equally delicious. Two visits, two different meals, and not a single disappointment. Whether you're a longtime fan of African cuisine or looking to try something new, Umana Yana offers an experience that's just as memorable as the food itself. If you don't know, now you know. Black businesses in LA respect their people and take their businesses very seriously, so I assumed this place would do the same. Unfortunately, we were treated like pests over a small misunderstanding. The waitress-Mercy, misheard me on our drink preferences & began giving us the good ol " Caribbean" cold shoulder . Why so sensitive? The sorrel sangria had way too much cinnamon. Also, I wanted pikliz with my meal, but she did not return after the drink mishap. We quickly learned, this is not a BLACK BUSINESS, this is an AFRICAN BUSINESS & they will quickly show you the difference. Food & Drink: 3 Goat roti gave a a little stomach ache, but it was decent. Oxtain was not tender, not good. The plate was mostly bones & gravy & rice. Plantains & jollof were good. The drinks were delicious though, but they were not strong at all. Price: 2 Spent 100$ so basically 25$ for each item, including the drinks. Overpriced and very small portions. The sides are literal pints, like the babyfood jar size. I was like ??? We usually pay this much at high scale Haitian restaurants in Manhattan, and completely understand the price because we are experiencing amazing customer service, food, ambience &scenery. Better to order takeout, but i heard it very difficult to do that here. Idk lol weird. Black/Indigenous Americans, do not bring your money here. You are not completely welcome here.
