I first reviewed this ihop almost two years ago with 5 stars, and I'm not at all thrilled about needing to give them 1 star with this update. Picture this: You and your plus one arrive for brunch and the restaurant is packed, but you're determined to wait so put your name down and are told it'll be about 15-20 minutes till they can get you a table. You take a seat on the bench and watch and listen to the hubbub. After 20 minutes, you get a table and, because you know exactly what you want, order the spinach and mushroom omelette with pancakes without hesitation. While you chat away and see other diners get seated, you notice the folks who either got seated after you or got their orders in after you all get their food before you, and there's still no word on when your order will come out. Naturally, this does not make you feel great, and you start wondering whether the server registered your order at all. You get up and look for any staff member to ask about what's going on, when all of a sudden, a male staff who appears to be a shift supervisor of sort starts corraling you towards your table. You start telling him that you've waited a long time and still haven't got your meal and that you've noticed other folks who arrived after you get their food already. Then, while standing over your table, the man says to you, 'You got your food right here. Here's your food' while gesturing and displaying a demeanor that clearly communicated, 'you sit your butt down and eat your food. We got you your food, so what more could you possibly want from us?' before walking away. Then a short while later, the server who was mun throughout this, came around asking if everything was OK. You say no, and her first response is that she's not going to apologise for what the manager said or did. Then she goes on to tell you that she already knew from the beginning that your food was going to be delayed because only certain staff in the kitchen can cook omelette. If I were the manager or supervisor, I would have led with a variation of 'hey, can I help you with anything?' instead of corraling me like you would livestock. I would have listened to the diner and apologised for the delay and perhaps help them understand the reason for the delay. And if I were the server and knew in advance that my customer's order was going to be delayed for whatever reason, I would have given them a heads-up. They say that you'll seldom remember exactly what a person said to you but you'll always remember how they made you feel. Today, two staff members at this ihop clearly demonstrated the don'ts of hospitality and customer service, and I remember exactly how they made me feel. I hope they continue to improve. I wish them well.

This IHOP was a great experience. They sat us immediately despite it being a little busy. Our server was attentive and personable. The food came out quickly and was delicious! 5 stars.

One positive- plenty of room for parking. The three of us arrived to an empty restaurant, told that we had we could not be seated until the last two of our group arrived. Food was as expected when compared to service. Low quality. If you want a better breakfast maybe Mc Donald's would help.

    Dirty silverware

I know this is something small, but I should not have to eat from dirty silverware. That's how people get sick. The food is not bad but they need to be more sanitary.

Crispy potatoes which come 2-3 minutes after getting your main dish.

Was it Something We Said? IHOP. You either love it or hate it. Our visit to the Wolf Rd location in Albany pushed us over to the 'hate it' camp. As with many other IHOPs these days, the restaurant is run down which makes me question the 'excellent' inspection rating they have posted in the waiting area. Regardless, the restaurant was full and we put our name on the host list. Getting passed by on the wait list should have been a sign of things to come. It's bad enough when they skip your name. It's worse when they shrug it off saying the other couple was ahead of yours somehow which was a lie as I suggested the couple put their name on the list as they came through the doors after us. The hostess was wrapping silverware bundles and texting on her phone at the same time. I was sickened a bit thinking how cell phones are covered with germs (about 25,127 bacteria per square inch, The Seattle Times). As the next table became available, the hostess put aside her phone and silverware to seat us, provide us with menus, and then toss down two plastic silverware sets in sealed plastic. While I knew these would be clean, what IHOP uses plastic silverware? Our server was the only redeeming part of our meal. She promptly took our order, offered a good substitute suggestion of crispy potatoes, and answered my question about the plastic ware. She didn't understand it herself as she usually works in another location. She happily provided us silverware - unbundled meaning the text-happy hostess didn't grub them up with her dirty hands. We waited. And waited. We proceeded to watch three tables seated after us get their meals. One table even finished their meals and left before ours arrived...without our side potatoes. They would be another 2-3 minutes. I saw on the menu that IHOP now adds pancake batter to their omelets. I didn't think much of it when I read it, but I sure thought about it as I tried eating my Tex-Mex-inspired omelet. It was not a good match. My husband ordered a make-your-own omelet that included 'fresh tomatoes.' They were not. My Chicken Fajita omelet came with grilled chicken breast, Poblano and red bell peppers, roasted onions, and a cheese blend. I asked if they could leave out the bell peppers and was told they could not as it was already mixed. From the taste of it, the vegetables come in a bag that they slice open and warm open. They were watery, definitely not roasted, and lacking any real flavor. The grilled chicken was not grilled. There was nothing fresh about either of our omelets. We had a gift certificate for IHOP but wish we had tossed it. I do not recommend going to this IHOP or any other IHOP.

The most pathetic excuse for a 13 dollar burrito I ever seen.
    Patrick L.

I ordered the $13 classic burrito and what I got wasn't even gas station quality. I've ordered this exact thing dozens of times from the Clifton park location and it was great quality every time. What I got was lazy and disgusting. Their idea of scrambled eggs is 1 egg folded once and overcooked. Instead of diced sausage there were 3 microwaved links all folded up like a 2 year olds letter to Santa. The manager and make believe cook should be ashamed of themselves. Zero quality checks. Do not order from this location they just flat out do not care.

First, your Brunch menu and food are excellent, when we finally got our food - after roughly an hour of waiting - I was instantly reminded of why Dove and Deer is great - bold flavors, excellent preparation, gorgeous plates all in a city that desperately needs it. Second, I really felt bad for the 3 people responsible for running an entire restaurant on a Sunday (two waiters and one person in the kitchen). They did their absolute best, were so kind and apologetic, but obviously completely stressed out and frazzled. Tables got up and left after waiting for someone to get back to them - and we almost did too. It's unfair to restaurant staff to put the burden of running an entire place on them. I get if someone called off and you're short staffed 1 or 2 people, but did everyone call off? Besides 3 people? Come on. You have a real opportunity to be a go to brunch destination, my advice is to staff appropriately and give it a real go or risk customers not getting to experience the greatness that is your food - and taking their dollars to someplace far more mediocre. The only reason this isn't a 2 star or 1 star review is because of how hard your staff tried, and how good your food is (when it finally shows up).

Decided to give a try. The place is a total vibe, dont let the outside and area fool you! It had been a long day by the time we got here, did the outlets all day long and I was coming down with a cold. Ordered a ton of apps, Crab rangoon dip is GOOOOOODDDD!!!!... Ordered Calamari that apparently I didnt get a pic of, but It was good also. I think we got wings, but I truly cant remember. I got the risotto, I didnt love it but the Shrimp were delish, it had a super strong after taste flavor that I didnt love but couldnt truly put my finger on, Hubby said his pasta was good, but just needed "something". Would def go back just not sure how often we'd be in the area. Drink menu was super extensive and they were great as well. Started to feel not well and literally had to take our food to go, the waitress was soo concerned and caring, it was great, and it was no fault of the food or theirs, I think it was just whatever cold I was coming down with that kicked my ass and I felt like I was going to pass out, sorry TMI... But the response was so nice and accommodating from the staff. Def worth a try, just be patient with parking, it was slightly chaotic, or that night we just happened to encounter all the people in the are who couldnt drive in tight spaces, LOL!

I would pass on the eggrolls im the future. The motz is advertised smoked but lacked a smoky flavor. The Harissa had the spice level simular to Heinz ketchup. My entree was a Cuban sandwich that did deliver some heat, well pressed with plenty of pickles. We would love to see a wider wine selection and a turn up on the spice and flavor for the appetizers.

The Roosevelt Room in Troy was a great experience from start to finish. I was honestly expecting a standalone building, but it is tucked into a strip mall near HVCC. That said, parking was easy and stress free, which is always a plus. This was our first visit as a party of four, and the service was superb. The attention to detail really stood out and was noticed immediately. Our waitress checked in at the right times, kept drinks filled, and made sure everything came out exactly as expected. Meals are made to order, so substitutions were no issue at all, and it was nice to see gluten free options available. When you walk in, you pass through a curtain and are immediately greeted by a coat attendant who takes your coats, which instantly gives the place an upscale feel. The ambiance is well done, with soft lighting and nice background music. It is on the smaller side and dimly lit, but that is clearly intentional. The menus actually light up, which was a unique and thoughtful touch that fits the atmosphere perfectly. We had reservations and were seated right away. It did not seem necessary on this particular evening, but I would definitely recommend them on a weekend given the size of the space. The food itself was excellent. Everything we ordered was very tasty, and the presentation across the board was impressive. Desserts are prepared by a pastry chef and were just as good as the rest of the meal. It is definitely on the pricey side, but that is to be expected for the level of service and atmosphere. This feels like a special occasion type of place, and in that context, it is worth every penny. We really enjoyed our night and would absolutely come back. There was also a sign mentioning live jazz on Fridays, which sounds like a great added touch. Overall, a very strong 5 stars.

We ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon from their extensive wine list, Stag's Leap. This wine paired perfectly with the filet mignon bordelaise, and the veal chop with cherry peppers. There is limited parking on the premises but always parking on the street if you don't mind some walking. The slightly rustic, lodge type of interior matches the friendly vibes as well as the interesting drink selections, including a side menu filled with signature coffee whiskey cocktails! Their tipsy cocktails and beer menu is also quite attractive. My group and I were able to walk in on a weekend evening for dinner with no wait and while it was packed inside, it still felt roomy enough. However, the surrounding tables were rowdy and the noise was reverberating. Our server was attentive though she did admit it was busy and the wait time for orders would take a bit longer than usual. The menu has plenty of starters that are highly shareable, poutine, salads, soups, mac and cheese, burgers, pizzas, sandwiches, wraps, and quesadillas. Haven't had real poutine in ages so I decided to try their gravy fries with smoked cheese curds and added bacon. It was a good portion for the price ($15+) and came out hot on a cast iron skillet. The cheese curds weren't the type I expected and melted down too much, and did not have that squeaky cheese bite one would want in poutine. The gravy and the bacon worked well with the fries though! The smoked brisket French onion soup ($8+) was extremely hot when it first came out and I had to let it cool down before taking a spoonful. The cheese was so bubbly and delicious and the soup itself was flavorful (maybe a tad too salty), and had a balanced amount of onions and brisket. I would definitely get the soup again. Their barbecue pulled pork quesadilla ($15+) was also a bit too salty and meat was more tough than preferred. We also tried two of their mac and cheese selections, which came in a small cast iron pot each ($17+). The bacon chicken ranch mac and cheese was good but the jerk chicken mac and cheese was not as memorable (not much jerk flavor). Kudos for having a build-your-own mac and cheese option as well as a mac and cheese flight if you want to try more than one flavor. I'm glad to return to try other menu items at this tap and tavern and see what else catches my eye. While this visit wasn't spectacular, it also wasn't bad. The French onion soup is one thing I know I'd get over and over again. Oh, they also have a credit card transaction fee that you will see once you get the bill. Pay in cash if you mind said fee.
