This ihop has got to be the worst one I've ever went to, and it sucks that it's the only one in Abilene. I went in last week and our waiter just threw our menus on the table and kept walking. Super weird, but that's fine. He proceeded to ignore us for 5 minutes before taking our drink orders. He comes back with our waters and leaves, when we're clearly ready to order. He takes other table's orders, but not ours. About 10 minutes later, another employee and what looks to be a manager notice us and finally take our order. Our original waiter NEVER comes to check on us, apologize for "forgetting" about us, refills, nothing. I wish I knew his name cause he needs to find a new job. I've eaten at this IHOP a handful of times now and my experiences have always been the typical, run of the mill types. Nothing to get excited about or anything but my latest visit was really great. My waitress, Shena, was nothing short of awesome. Instead of having to open a ton of little containers of half and half, she brought me a glass of milk for my coffee and didn't charge me. She recommend a pretty tasty banana fosters French toast and checked in on me pretty often. I asked if I could get a side order of sausage to take home to my dog and she went back into the kitchen and grabbed me some old sausages that were just going to be tossed. Once again, no charge and she gave me more than plenty (I was only wanting two and I got about a dozen). It's always easier to write a bad review and I think those that work in food service (or any customer service job, really) get over looked sometimes. My experience at IHOP far exceeded what I was expecting and that makes me very happy. read more

Service needs huge overhaul. People were waiting for an hour for online orders. People were waiting to be seated when the restaurant wasn't busy and there were plenty empty tables. You had servers standing around chatting. No greeting of customers, they just asked how many people. The only reason I was there was to pickup an order for delivery. I can say I will decline an order if I have to go to IHOP. So sad because this was always such a great spot to dine. read more

After waiting for an hour after ordering, only given one cup of coffee the entire time, my husband went to investigate...the grill had gone down but no mention of that from our waitress. What a disappointment. We walked in and the place was dead, only four tables with people at them. Four employees standing in the back corner looking at us but not a single one coming to greet our family. When our server came to the hostess stand she didn't greet us in any fashion. She only said "how many?" We said six and she walked away. A few minutes later she came back and said "this way". After we got seated it took nearly 30 minutes to receive our dinner. When it arrived all the pancakes were cold and some were over cooked. I even asked the server to microwave the pancakes. The butter was rock hard on top of cold pancakes. My husband's biscuit and gravy was also cold. The inside of the biscuit felt like the just pulled it out of the fridge and slapped it on the plate. There was barely enough gravy to cover the top of the biscuit, no extra on the bottom layer or on the plate. when the server was clearing our table she took our sons filled drink glass with her then didn't return to the table until after the food arrived so he went without a drink. The server failed to mention when three of my children ordered chocolate milk that they couldn't get a refill, talk about disappointed, they all had water with their meal. She spoke so softly I had to tell her repeatedly that I couldn't hear her. Instead of speaking up she just took off her mask! They didn't enforce the mask rule at all. Everyone coming and going did so without masks except for the employees, half of which had their mask below their nose. We were in a completely empty dinning room and they sat a big family at the table directly behind us, even though the rest of the dining room was empty. So much for six feet apart. We were there for more than an hour and no one cared to clean the two filthy tables across from us. The floor was slick and greasy and we were sliding while walking from the door to our table. When it was time to pay it took almost five minutes for someone to come to the front. It was our server. When I tried to explain how dissatisfied we were with our $70 meal she made a grunt noise, took her tip, and walked away. No apologies, no would you like to speak with management, no thank you for coming. Nothing. The entire evening was garbage. Server 547 Adriana is in the wrong line of work. We come to this ihop quite a bit but today it was worth mentioning. Our waiter (man) set us at a table and took our drink order: coffee, chocolate milk,tropical island & tropical island punch. Kinda hard, right? Everything was good EXCEPT coffee... ok how do you screw up coffee? It was bitter and I asked for regular half and half and guess what he brings me? Hazelnut 1/2 & 1/2. I had to ask for silverware 3 TIMES BEFORE HE BRINGS 2 sets. Did I tell you there is 4 of us? We've been here 35 minutes and don't have utensils, regular 1/2 1/2, or least if all food. Had some friends in town who wanted to go there for breakfast. Terrible service. Gave me the wrong order and it was without question the WORST pancake I ever had in my life. When we left, the pat of butter they put on my "pancake" still hadn't melted. Couldn't cut thru it with a fork. Used to have good crepes there but the last one I had was awful. As thick as a pancake. I wish I could give a lower rating. Got seated and drinks ordered quickly. From there...down hill. Took waiter over 10 minutes to come back to take our food order. We are waiting patiently and notice that people who came in after us, have ordered, eaten and paid their bill, but nothing for us. I glance at my watch and realize we have been sitting for 45 minutes and no food. Waiter comes over finally and says our food should be right out....NOT. We get the manager and while explaining the issue, another waiter comes over and says the problem is that they are out of onion rings so I need to choose something else. I said we've been waiting for 45 minutes because you ran out of onion rings and he just says I'm sorry, since we were talking to the manager, I say a side salad with ranch. The manager then says she will go check on our order, she comes back and says it is being brought out...NOT, but they did bring my salad, forgot the dressing and said they would go grab it....5 minutes later they bring out our order, he then finally brings over this little cup with about a tablespoon of dressing and walks away. The mashed potatoes were cold and had crunchy edges, chicken was dry, lukewarm and gross. Manager comes back over to check on our food and eventually just says there is no charge. First the good: The serves and hostess were nice and the service was good. The food came out decent and no complaints there. Now the bad: this place was disgusting. The kitchen had food everywhere and he floor was littered. The dirty dishes were piled everywhere. The dinning room was just as bad. Dirty dishes and plates on tables. Our table had syrup and food all over it and we were still seated there. There was soooooo much food and trash on the ground it was gross. The IHOP on Clack has done a total turnaround since last year! It got to a point where we began to talk about not going, but the last two times have proven that they were listening to the reviews. Arrived at this iHop Monday morning 7/31/17 & greeted by friendly staff who then escorted me to a table for one. The restaurant had maybe 30 customers total. 12 minutes later a pleasant young lady asked if I had been helped & I responded I had not. She asked what I'd like to drink, took that order returned several minutes later my drinks. I don't mind waiting if a restaurant is full of people & very busy, that was not the case this morning. I was very impressed with my visit for food and service. Although I have been disappointed in the past, I really feel like IHOP has improved and can understand why their parking lot is always full. We've lived in Abilene 5 yrs. We've been there three times. I'm done. It was a Thursday night, it wasn't that busy. Our server put us off three times to help another table and we hadn't even ordered after 15 min of being there. After seeing the look on my face the third time she came by our table to tell us she was going to help another table she decided against it and went ahead and took our order. After 30 min, telling me our food was coming the manager is in the kitchen now making it, the kitchen messing up my simple order, and not even getting it hot as though it was just made we ate our food which was good. She was apologetic that things were just so dang slow but this is the third time we've had almost identical experiences. If you've got time to waste, go for it. But I'll warn ya, the food is hit and miss and the service is consistently slow. read more

When our order was finally brought out, it was NOT the normal eggs Benedict!! There was very little ham, even less sauce and the poached egg was FIRM (quite over-cooked).
