Just moved to the area and on my hunt for my new coffee house. I skipped two different chain coffee houses just to try Idego because it is locally owned, and I prefer to support small businesses whenever possible. I visited on Sunday, was the only customer and yet felt extremely uncomfortable as the service was so awkward. The barista almost seemed bothered that I was there, she was working on labeling things so I just stood there patiently until she was ready to take my order. She did offer a suggestion change to my Mayan order, to add chocolate which was helpful. I felt so uncomfortable waiting in silence I just stood near the door, once I received my coffee I thanked her, which she acknowledged with a forced smile and walked straight to the back of her working area. A "have a good day" costs nothing to say to a paying customer. The coffee itself had a really great flavor, reasonable price up charge for oat milk. I was disappointed that my latte didn't have the latte art I saw in many of the review photos, a reason I also decided to visit idego in the first place. With a background in business operations, it is always unsettling to receive a different experience than depicted in online reviews and online review photos. Overall coffee was good but I left feeling like I would have received significantly better service at a chain coffee house. Based on reviews, I wish I would have visited when the gentleman so frequently mentioned was working, perhaps I would have had a different experience. read more

New amazing coffee in Poway! Came in during their early hours and got an Iced Mocha. In a 16 oz. there were four shots, which is lots of caffeine but purposefully doing its job! Cute little coffee shop! This is probably my fourth time back in the maybe month they've been open and never been disappointed. The place is really clean and has a nice simple menu with cheaper prices then your big coffee chains. Towards the back they have a window where you can see where they roast the coffee. I'm assuming it's the owner, has helped me every time and has always been very welcoming and talkative. There are a few tables inside, but also some outside of you are looking for a place to sit. I would definitely check it out if you're looking to try somewhere new that isn't your average Starbucks as i think it has a unique taste to it and supporting locally. This unassuming spot is serving up delicious coffee. The espresso was light, fruity, and a little creamy at the end. The flat white has a velvety texture, and the shaken iced late was not too sweet and very good. The owner was making our drinks and he was super friendly and helped recommend something for everyone. I was in the area to get my car serviced and stumbled upon this gem. My husband and I are big coffee lovers and always looking for new and local roasters to support, so I wanted to get my husband some unground beans. I met Paul (who was super nice and helpful) and asked him for his suggestion. My husband wanted a lighter roast with fruity nodes and he recommended the Wahundura Factory which was spot on! My husband brewed some this morning and he was impressed! Although Poway isn't near us, we will definitely be coming back to get some awesome coffee! I chatted with Paul and he said this is their only location since he moved form Virginia. I'm glad they have taken this business to San Diego! My spouse and I have been coming to Idego Coffee Roasters for a few weeks now and the drinks are always prepared with the best and freshest ingredients. It's so fresh, that sometimes the beans are roasted in preparation for our order. I've had the spiced chai, Mayan mocha, and lavender latte (all decaf and with oat milk) and the flavor profiles are unlike anything I've had elsewhere. I personally think it's fair priced because if you get it as is it's only $4.95 for the regular size (without tax of course and for milk alternatives it's an additional 0.75 which i dont think is too bad). What a cool hidden gem in Poway. What's about to go meet up with a friend so I wanted to get some coffee beforehand so I did my search on you for places nearby. idego popped up and it looked interesting so I stopped by. I was greeted by the owner I take and he was a very nice guy I ordered myself a pool over and he gave me his recommendations which was fire. As I looked around the shop I saw these interesting machines that I did not know what it was. I asked the owner and he said they were pretty much automated pour over machines. How cool! This is the first time I seen these machines at work I'm a big fan of pour over so this was a treat for me. After talking with the owner for a while he said that these machines were about 15 grand was all about consistency. I do say these machines do make a good pull over. It helps that his coffee is good also. I'll definitely be back to try some of his other pour overs and see the automated machines at work. It's a relatively small coffee shop with a few tables and some outside tables. They've been doing this for a while so you know you going to get good coffee when you come here. read more
