I am always amazed that they always seem to have an abundance of perfectly sweet mangos (how do they do it??). Although a bit pricey, $6-8 for a small portion, the must-try item for me is the Mango Juice Sago as it is probably their most famous item. There's so many options for different toppings that its almost like you're able to customize it! I prefer A06 with the glutinous rice balls! So refreshing and perfect for warm weather. My only complaint about the location is the spotty service. When we entered, we ended up getting our own menus and seating ourselves since no one came to greet us. Granted it was the late afternoon so perhaps business was slow. Regardless, the food still speaks for itself. I love it, but I think I will only be back on occassion since it's a bit pricey for a casual eat. read more

Mango Mango is in the perfect plaza for Asian eats and it's one of my favorite dessert places to go to! I love the Mango Mille Cake as well as the Matcha cake! The service is so fast and the restaurant is very clean and has a modern aesthetic. There is such a great menu and a lot to choose from and it's not too pricey, especially because it's sort of designed to share (though the portions are not too big). Came here during the late afternoon on a Saturday based on a recommendation. It wasn't crazy packed but there was a bit of a wait, maybe about 10 minutes. It moves pretty quickly here because they only really serve dessert and it doesn't really seem to be the type of place where people spend hours. I'm a big fan of mango and Asian dessert in general, and I was both pleasantly surprised and overwhelmed by the variety offered here. We tried the mango sticky rice with green tea ice cream (it usually comes with vanilla but they had no problem swapping it out) and the mango with glutinous rice balls. Both were really great and I loved the fact that they were not overly sweet. The rice balls have a similar chewy texture to the tapioca ball that you would find in bubble tea. Interior design classy, cozy and clean for a dessert spot. Everything on menu looks delicious. We ordered several items. Everything was attractively presented and visually appealing. All desserts tasted as good as they looked on menu. They were unable to provide a single scoop of plain vanilla ice cream for my nephew with nut allergies. Waitress's only option was to order the waffle dessert which came with a scoop of icecream, waffles, whip cream, fruits, chocolate syrup, Nutella and powdered sugar just to get the plain vanilla ice cream on the side. We asked her to make sure the vanilla ice cream will be on the side for the nephew with allergies. Sure enough the ice cream came out wedged between the Nutella soaked waffles. I had high hope for this dessert place because I've been to their branch in another state before, and it was amazing. However, when we visited the Edison branch in NJ, we were not so impressed. I ordered Ube soup with sago and rice ball. What I got was just the sago and ube soup. There were no rice balls in sight. Too bad, since we were on our way home to VA, we could not return or ask for a refund. We felt short-changed, and $9 for a sago soup is pretty expensive. If you stuck a straw in a very ripe mango and multiplied that by 3, that would be the equivalent. It is very very good. The last time I came here, I got the Green Tea Mille Crepe. The presentation was awesome. It came on a very flat white plate with a light dusting of Matcha Powder. The cake itself is very gramable! It tasted awesome! I've been to Mango Mango in the Chinatown New York. This is definitely the better store because of the aesthetics. I came here around 4-5 times now. Each time I enjoyed their desserts. I haven't had an experience where I didn't like their food. I definitely recommend their Snow White mango. The combos are a good value too. I would still go back to a lot of these places that I give threes to. I'm a bit wary of this one-- I hope it was a rare occurrence that there was a hair in my food. To me it's a big red flag. I mean, if you work in a kitchen, be sure to comb your hair in the morning, or wear a hair net if your hair falls out that much. The rest of the restaurant seems very clean, so it's just very suspicious that there was a hair sitting there right on top of my food. I was about a third of the way through my dish before I saw it. I did get a replacement, which is the least they can do in this situation. It's just very unsettling because you wonder what would've happened if you hadn't seen it. Aside from all that, I think Mango Mango is a great place to stop by for dessert. They're in the same mall as Hmart, and something about it just screams "great date place" -- much better than Starbucks. If you want bad service and stink eye rude staff, then go here. This place theoretically should be awesome because who doesn't love mango. However, plan to be treated with disrespect or mild contempt, at best, once you get there. I went here with another person on a weekend at least 30 minutes before their closing time and was told that they would only do accept take out orders. Okay, sure I get it, the employees (owner?) doesn't want to have to wait for people who might stay past their closing time. Fine I get that. However there were at least five tables of people there enjoying their mango. Regardless, I ordered the A2 mango juice sago and pomello ($6 per menu). During the wait, we noticed that the server had a disagreement with one of the tables about a charge that wasn't apparently known to that customer. Additionally, a group of five or six guys were also turned away. Anyhow, the order arrives about ten minutes later and it was disappointing. See picture for the sad A2 in carryout size. There's a Mango Mango in Chinatown (the original) and Flushing and each give off different vibes. Here the bright yet plainly white interior ranks second to Flushing's. The combination of a stark vast space, a slower business and lack of energy leads to prominent observation of service wherein 2-3 young workers serve in a distant, deadpan manner whether busy or near empty. It's the minimum and is acceptable. Ordered: - Combo D: 2 flavored teas + 1 mille crepe cake ($15) - A01 Special mango juice sago with pomelo and mango ice cream ($6.50) - S06 Special Mango Platter: 1. mango ice cream atop lychee jelly, 2. mango mochi atop diced mango, 3. chilled pureed mango with tapioca balls and diced mango ($7.95) This is definitely one of those places where your experience with quality fruits, especially in Asia, and when/what you order determines whether you have a decent or good experience. The presence of that supremely sweet, juicy and bright taste of a ripe, sweet mango isn't present or consistent in their offerings. I was here at the end of September and their mochi is yellow with a piece of mango at its center but without flavor apart from the faint coconut flakes. Basically a plain mochi. I will say it excels in its soft, goopy texture which may warrant a try as comparison to store bought mochi. The diced mango was not sweet and lacked flavor while the mango ice cream was odd in only having a hint of mango and something else, leaving a lingering powdery feeling on the tongue. All the flavor came from the lychee jelly. What did actually taste closer to sweet mango--though still very weak--was the chilled pureed mango soup. I can only theorize and peg this all to an interplay of: 1) unpopular items leading to low turnover, 2) ill- prepped or executed items, and 3) my coming at the end of the day outside of peak mango season. From a pic provided by a fellow Yelper, they use Ciruli Brothers Champagne Mangoes, an ataulfo variety harvested from Mexico where their availability is from February to July-August. Ataulfo mangoes in general are at peak from March to June. That doesn't bode well for the business or its patrons where mangoes are the star of the show. It makes me wonder if they rely on other readily available varieties. So while hard to suggest, try coming earlier in the day for potentially fresher items and during peak mango season for the better mango experience. Outside that period it's perfectly fine to come chill and chat with friends over a cup o' tea at $4.50 a pot. The mango green tea and jasmine dragon tea is surprisingly not bad for tea bags. Helps the teapot-atop-tea-cup design is cute. Also, you save $1 with Combo D compared to ordering separately. I don't love it but Mango Mango fills in that Hong Kong dessert void for an area highly concentrated with Asians. Being also near Rutgers it's a smart move, sharing something commonly found in Hong Kong to serve as an intro for those not exposed to HK deserts. I'd recommend coming here for that alone. 3.25 stars. read more

Durian pancake is pretty in lime green with a texture of a marshmallow. None of its notorious smell. I wanted to try this place, because of H10 on their menu: sweet soup dessert of purple yam with sago (tapioca pearls) and rice balls cooked in sweet coconut cream and served hot. The Filipino version has cubes of sweetened cassava and sweetened plantain and strips of jackfruit. I grew up eating this in family gatherings and holiday celebrations, thinking it was a uniquely Filipino dessert, only to learn 5 decades later that, once again it's from The Chinese. It's a good spot to catch up with friends and family although you have to watch when you go. It gets busy during weekend lunch hours and after dinner time. I found that in the mid-afternoon (Around 4-6pm) on a Saturday, it is not as busy and you get more attention from the servers. Get the combos if you have at least two people to save a few bucks. When we first entered Mango Mango, we were greeted by the distinct, unwelcome aroma of durian. However, the interior was brightly lit with interesting items lining the cabinets of the walls. We were quickly directed to a table by a server and we decided to order a Coco Crepe Roll, Snow White Juice and Red Bean with Glutinous Rice Balls, and two orders of Mango Sticky Rice. The server was able to helpfully answer questions we had about the menu and even make suggestions according to our preferences. When the desserts first came out, the first thing we noticed was that the portion sizes seem to have decreased and were not as large as suggested on the menu. The Coco Crepe Roll came out surprisingly quickly and before any of the other orders. It is perfect for someone with a sweet tooth but the interior was just filled with cream and did not resemble the photo on the menu. The Snow White Juice and Red Bean with Glutinous Rice Balls was very filling and although my friend enjoyed the surprise lychee jelly, she thought the rice balls were not chewy enough and seemed overcooked. The Mango Sticky Rice with its sweet mangoes was delicious and my friends thought that the dusting of coconut chips on top of the ice cream was a nice touch. Overall, I have always had an enjoyable experience at Mango Mango but I've heard inconsistent comments about the quality of the waffle (in Maryland) and I discovered hair in the mango pancakes once.
