The restaurant is in a very busy strip mall. There's ample parking all around. It's an AYCE sushi restaurant. You order by iPad and there's a good selection. 95% is sushi/Japanese. 5% is Thai. The food is prepared and delivered quickly. Please don't feel the need to everything at once as it comes out the kitchen fast. The food is good. No big complaints. My kids liked the won ton soup. The hot and sour soup was ok - could have been a little more "hot"/spicy. The sashimi seemed fresh. Sushi rolls were nicely presented. The fried rice was good. Teriyaki chicken and beef were good too. My biggest problem and the likely reason for not returning - sitting by the window, for which there are many tables/seats, the place was freezing! We had to wear our jackets inside the restaurant. I'm sure they know they have an insulation problem as well weren't the only ones wearing jackets inside. JUNE 2/24 I hadn't been to Ichiki in awhile. I used to visit it monthly when I worked locally. It was a favorite lunch spot. The food was always good, and while it was a little expensive for lunch vs other local restaurants, my friends and I always enjoyed the variety of dishes available. I now drive to Vaughan only periodically and was there on Sunday specifically to eat at Ichiki. We were seated immediately with barely a greeting. The server was not rude but neither was she friendly. There was limited, and I mean limited verbal interaction with anyone that worked there. No one expects a long conversation but crack a smile for goodness sake. The all-you-can-eat menu is $41/person. There is a warning on the menu that says if you don't eat what you order they could charge you a "waste fee". If you're offering a buffet-like menu it's possible people might want to try different things. They may or may not like those things. The caveat for the extra fee, in addition to the $41, certainly prevents the diner from exercising their choices and experiencing new foods. No one wants to be wasteful but the threat of an extra fee is offensive. The food was okay / good. The atmosphere less than. If you're thirsty, they're very quick to refill your water to fill you up. You won't be parched while you're there or for the balance of the evening. I don't feel the need to visit this restaurant again. read more

Looking for a top-notch AYCE in Vaughan? Well, look no further than ICHIKI. In case you'd like more than Japanese, it has Thai too. If you'd like to order at your own pace, they use tablet menus. And if you wish orders would all show up at your table, I'd say come here for a pleasant meal experience. We were more than happy to try their less common AYCE items such as the refreshing beef & butterfish tataki with ponzu sauce, and the smokey beef torched sushi. Their sashimi tasted fresh and pieces were cut in good size portions. Hot takoyaki balls, crispy coconut shrimps and satay chicken skewers were all on point so we got a second serving. Their grilled squid was fairly tender and flavourful too. Other typical items were on the menu, and we couldn't resist the desserts such as fried milk even after a full meal. We came here on a Saturday night for a family celebration. Good thing we made a reservation because it was completely packed! Once seated, our service was attentive and expeditious in this modern looking restaurant. We didn't wait more than a few minutes before our dishes started to arrive steadily. It's true they charge a few bucks more than usual AYCE but we felt the meal was well worth it. Having also tried Spoon & Fork, my opinion is that ICHIKI offers the better Japanese & Thai AYCE. So how did a star go missing in this review? Our sushi rolls were a little sloppy but hopefully this was just an off-night. Ichiki has been my favourite AYCE sushi spot in Vaughan for the past few years, but today's visit was disappointing. The food was good overall, as usual, hence the two stars. But service left much to be desired. I was dining with my brother and cousin, and we piled our empty plates on the outer edge of the table. The pile grew larger and was topped with food waste and used napkins, and staff would come to our table to drop off things but ignored the pile. It wasn't until dessert when someone finally cleared the mounting heap of trash. We also found there to be an absurd amount of rice on some of the rolls, and we were told they'd charge us extra if we didn't eat at least half the rice. Last but not least, I noticed a disgusting hair/dirt-looking thing on one of the baked muscles...and after seeing that, I found it on 3 other ones. I showed it to the waitress and she shrugged it off saying it's natural. This was my fist Coker to Ichiki Japanese and Thai. My first impressions were a little off. There was a smell that greeted me at the door. I didn't realize that it was sushi and Thai. I figured I would give it a try. I eat lots of sushi and am picky about what I get. I also have to eat gluten free, so attention to detail is important to a restaurant for me. The hand rolls were exceptionally well priced in my opinion, so I ordered a few more than I usually would expecting them to be small. This was a take order. I ended up with less hand rolls than I had ordered, but that was okay because they were a decent size, and came with nice crispy seaweed wraps. The food was delicious and I will be back. I can't give five stars due to some deficits in the order, but I will go back for sure. Hand rolls averaged $4 each. Philadelphia roll was $7. Not bad at all. read more

This is hands down my favorite sushi spot. Although now I don't live in this area anymore, I always end up going to grab sushi from here. One of my friends a couple of years ago mentioned this spot to me and I completely fell in love with the food/taste. My favorite item on the menu (also the most ordered) is the Golden Cali Roll. Which has a deep fried layer on top of the California roll which tastes amazing. If you haven't tried it already you definitely should. The other roll I have ordered is the avocado roll, when I want a veggie option. As they have a few veggie options on the menu for those that don't eat any type of meat. The prices on take out orders are fairly the same as another restaurant I have tried. Haven't had a chance to sit in at the restaurant but does have plenty of sitting. Good decent AYCE Japanese! Love how FAST the food order gets delivered, even the hot food came out pipping hot! As soon as you order on the iPad, and hit submit, it was probably less than 60 seconds before someone appears beside you to deliver plates and plates of dishes we ordered! We were very impressed, most AYCE places would just skim or skip some of your order or "lost" your order somewhere or bring it so much later you get full and not want to eat anymore! Not this place! Love their fast order and bam it's at your table in seconds! The quality of sashimi could be a bit better, the salmon wasn't the best I've had. But they did have tasty sweet shrimp sashimi! The grilled "mandarin fish" (I believe it was just cod) was absolutely delicious! So was the grilled king oyster mushrooms! First time we had cooked food as much as we had for sushi and sashimi! We didn't have any thai stir fry, only had the tom yum soup which was also light and brothy for a cold winter night! Awesome fried milk pudding which is my fave!! I barely had to wait at all for the delicious food. The menu has a wide variety of choices, from sashimi to curry to teriyaki. This sushi place is located in the same plaza as the McDonalds and across from Walmart. You order on ipads for ayce sushi and Thai buffet. They have a variety of options with cooked and raw foods such as salmon sashimi tataki, raw beef, cheese wontons, coconut shrimp, sweet and sour pork, torched sushi etc. They also have the standard ayce sushi, sashimi spread. The fish tasted fresh and the cooked foods were good but the sushi rolls were too big in size and packed with too much rice. After ordering a few things, you didn't want to eat anymore because there was soo much rice. I wish they made the rolls smaller so you can try a variety of foods (instead of wasting it). They have some speciality rolls like a 'torched' salmon roll that was over cooked - so it tasted like baked salmon on top of a California roll (which was kinda gross because the sushi was warm as well). Stay away from the pressed or torched sushi, it was just meh. I think the cooked foods are what they do well, which makes it difficult for me to enjoy because they are a sushi place. Came with my parents and sister for my late late bday dinner yesterday. My parents are still on that all you can eat (ayce) sushi tip (I'm over it), but to satisfy their cravings we came to this location since they have red tuna sashimi. They also have a la carte available, but we kill the sashimi so that wouldn't make sense if ayce is available. No reservations on a Tuesday night, they had a pretty packed house, but we got the last big table. Food: Sashimi!! Let's see.... we got red tuna, butterfish, snapper, salmon, surf clam and mackerel. Check out the amazing photo of all that sashimi! My parents laughed and said the restaurant owners took an L with that order. The cuts were all uniform and what I felt was the right size. Temperature was just right as well. For an ayce place, they are probably the best at this temperature control and size. Tataki's were all really good, comparable to straight up a la carte places. I only liked the torched beef pressed sushi. Did I word that right? Haha. The other ones were meh. I also thought it was strange that the salmon ones had more rice than the beef one. The beef one was the right ratio. The rice could have been seasoned better for this kind of dish. Squid was available in sushi form only, not sashimi. Booo, it's a shame they don't offer it in the latter. Maki rolls, too big! Example of them trying to fill you up with rice. I guess these are more catered to the a la carte guests so it's more bang for their buck. I'll pass on these next time. Ugh, cheese wontons were so good. I shouldn't be eating these, but they were absolutely delicious after having all that raw food. Get these. Get lots of these. Pad Thai, pass. My sister said it tasted like ketchup. Grilled squid, get this. Buttered lightly and had just the right bite to them. Now, get more of this. What else... beef mushroom rolls were aight. My mom liked the coconut shrimp and mussels. Hot sake (10 oz). It stayed nice and hot throughout the service, no need to reheat. It was a good amount to be shared for three ppl. Dessert, the only thing that stood out was the deep fried milk. Would get this again over all the other items in the dessert photo. For those of you who like chocolate ice cream, they have it here. Maybe I'll be basic and try this next time. They also have coconut ice cream.... mixing these may save their dessert options. Service: They seated us quickly and asked if we wanted to do a la carte or ayce. We asked for ayce and they set up our iPad menu. Menu was easy to navigate and to order from. They also asked what we wanted to drink right away and brought it promptly. They did refill us on tea once, but we had to ask for more the second time around. She placed the tea thermos on our table this time, which I am always, genuinely happy to get and serve myself. The food came out as quick as possible and they took plates away quickly. The bill came when we asked for it (you would be surprised how many places don't do this well, but they did good!). All the servers were pleasant to be around. Atmosphere: I like the layout and decor of this restaurant. The ambience was nice and the music was not too loud so it was pretty family/conversation friendly. Washrooms were clean, other than the fact that someone either threw up (kind of, maybe) or threw out some food in there. Since I couldn't tell which it was, it didn't bother me. These restaurants have no control over some of their ratchet customers. I also did not notify them to clean it, so I don't blame them for this. Final thoughts: I hate to leave it on that note. So my overall impression of this sushi restaurant is GOOD. With capital letters. Worthy of the five stars because there were some quality items on the ayce menu (red tuna sashimi for an ayce place A+). Obviously not as good as going to a fancy a la carte, but it will do to curb your cravings. Service and ambience was GOOD. GOOD place to take your sashimi loving parents. I tried Ichiki for the first time today, and my experience was a very pleasant one Their food is pretty good, and especially the sushi is among the best ones i've had... First of all the restaurant looks very nice from the inside, nice modern design with a rusty feeling to it. All tables were nicely stocked and clean. We were greeted and taken to our table right away, as it was not busy at all ok a Sunday afternoon. Since t was my first visit,The waiteess was very helpful explaining their ordering process. Basically you can order off the menu, or you choose the 'All you can eat" option, for $19.99 lunch rate, you can order as much as you want. Both options/order types are placed easily via a tablet that the waitress give you to keep on the table, that you can easily navigate through, select item, quantity and send to kitchen! Done! The food was delicious, portions are perfect, which is different than other competition on that category where you get a small sampler size. These portions are filling and the quality is superb. Sushi selections are very big, and it covers a wide variety of maki, sushi, sashimi rolls.. They also have a wider variety of Thai and Chinese pad thais, woks, curry plates, etc... My favourite apps are the coconut shrimp, tempura shrimp and Teriyaki beef & chicken satays.. As for all sushi items that we had ordered, they're all superb! The only one thing I would like to see improved here is the service, staff can be a little more friendly/smiley. Other than that, i'm going back soon! read more

Wow. I can't believe I ate the whole thing. Ever been famished so much so that you just eat what's in front of you ? That was the case here. That said no one took the time to ask how everything' is after they delivered our what they call Pad Thai. We call Pad slop. If Burger King served Pad Thai they'd Probably do a better job. Worse yet after we politely indicated that what we ate was the worst Pad Thai we have ever eaten the waitress who was more concerned about dinging our debit card could care less. We said we'd never come back. Even upon our pre order we specifically said " easy on the oil and extra spicy " what they delivered was a Hospital delight of bland oils and ketchup drenched noodles. Not a single bean sprout to be found let alone garnish of lime. At $17.95 a pop which is not exactly cheap for this dish as average price is around $14-16. This looked like something you see served in a prison movie. Than again it was Halloween. The food and service is very scary here. Your better off to go through the local fast food drive through. This restaurant can't make up its mind Thai food or Japanese. There are no Japanese people working here. Otherwise you'd be greeted walking through the door. We can only imagine the Sushi is probably best enjoyed by your cat here seeing as they DECIMATED the Pad Thai. If your missing your teeth or have seniors that want to eat out this might be a good choice. Or if it's your cats birthday you definitely should add this to your list of fine feline eating. Mind you that's not truly a fair comment as we didn't have the Sushi. We're disappointed we didn't bring our retriever he would have slopped down the PT and licked the plate clean. Guaranteed. Came here for dinner with the gf's parents and I usually go here pretty often but this experienced turned me off booked a reservation at 7 30pm for 5 people. Made us wait for a table when we had booked for a time. One of the waitresses asked if we wanted to squeeze into one of the booths that were intended for 4 people instead but obviously it wouldn't work and then one of the hostess had the audacity to say you guys can leave then if you don't like it? Mind you this was a chinese establishment and my gfs parents also speak chinese so we were heated. Why would you ask us to leave when we booked a table for 5. The attitude of the hostess needs to improve. Does she think because we are asian too that she can pull that and we wouldn't start anything? We opted to wait at the booth until a table opened up we were not leaving because we had waited so long already. You order on an ipad for ayce sushi, it's ok, there are much better ayce sushi in markham. Pad thai was not good, satey skewers were stringy, the rolls had way too much cucumber in it when the menu don't mentioned it at all. The salmon sashimi had some stringy bits and scales still on it, and rice/seaweed was pretty bad. Salmon belly and tempura was pleasantly delicious, so was the seaweed salad and miso soup. cooked sushi was better than usual. service was ok, better than some other AYCE but that's not saying much. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! I was so turned off by this place and the TERRIBLE service! We decided to try this place out based on recommendation from a friend. The reviews on Yelp are also pretty decent. So we went last night to have dinner and if it was good, we wanted to book the room for a party of 20 people for a Thursday night. We walked in and waited for over 10 minutes before walking up to a waitress to ask to be seated. In the meantime, there was another guy at the front for take out and he was clearly upset. He commented having had to wait over half an hour for his order and he placed the order 2 hours prior. It happens that people make mistakes, so I smiled and said "what can you do?" and stood there waiting for someone to come. After more than 10 minutes, I walked over to where the sushi chefs were preparing the food and asked how I can get a seat? They said a waitress will be over shortly. I told them I also wanted to discuss a possible reservation for a party. They yelled into the back and someone came out. The lady hardly spoke English. I thought it was strange that they called this person out, but let it go. I tried explaining we wanted to rent the room in the front for a party of 20 people. She said room is for 24. I told her perfect because we will be more or less 20 people. She asked which night - I told her it was a Thursday night. That is when things got even worse. She said "Sorry cannot do". I asked if it was because it is already booked. She said "No. We do not rent room on Thursday. Not enough people". I was dumbfounded. I asked why. She said "You need to put deposit." I said "okay - that is no problem". She then said "What time?" I told her any time is okay - 5, 6, 7... what ever is better for them. She said "Cannot do 6. Must be 5:30". I agreed but at this point, I was getting a bit annoyed because she was quite rude. She said "Be right back" and leaves for 10 minutes. By this point, we haven't eaten... and we started paying attention to the little details. The kitchen area wasn't super clean... and most of the tables had a slimy texture to them etc. I was hungry but started getting turned off by the whole situation. Lady finally comes back and said "Spoke to boss. He said cannot do private room - only dining area". I had enough. Half hour of my life I will never get back, not to mention enduring such rudeness. The only thing I said was "Forget this place. There are plenty of places that want my business. I don't even want to eat here tonight either. I'm going somewhere else". All she said was "Ok. Fine. Came here for AYCE lunch on a Saturday and got seated immediately. The menu options were definitely unique with their Thai options and there was a lot of variety in cooked dishes like curry, ramen, pad Thai. There was even takoyaki and baked mussels! In terms of the sushi, the quality really fell short. The fish on the nigiri was decent quality, but the rice really ruined it. There was way too much rice under the fish and it had too much water when cooked so it was extremely squishy, soft, and sticky. Their ramen was okay not much flavour but the noodles were cooked well. The veggie red curry was good. This is a good place if you'd want to try Thai dishes compared to other regular AYCE lunch places, but I'd personally stick to a restaurant with better sushi quality. read more

It's $18.99 for lunch which is kind of price , the sushi was okay and the food had a lot of variety. Compare it to maple sushi down the road ... maple sushi is a bit cheaper and has more items. It's all the same food, except Iciki is the first place where I didn't see terriyakj beef. Some of there pictures don't match what you actually get and it's a bit of a let down. For the price $18.99 for lunch defiantly wouldn't come back. But I did have a good lunch. Originally I was going to give a 4 stars cause the food was great. But my son got food poisoning after so I have to take off 2 stars. (I would have taken off all stars if I am 100% sure it is caused by the restaurant.) This is the first time I try out this restaurant. The food was great. The atmosphere is great. Service was prompt. I just hope that it didn't cause food poisoning for my son. But the only food that he ate that I didn't eat that day was from Ichiki. It was a chocolate ice-cream. Went here at the time they recently just opened with 2 friends. I ordered their maki set and I like how you could order from an iPad. I found this to be a bit pricy but it was one of the cheapest things they had. The fish itself was average, I expected more quality since that costed around $15. I have been to this restaurant several times and the food is always fairly good. Today's experience however was so unexpected. With my sister, nieces and nephew, we were a table of 5. The lady server with shorter hair was so obnoxious I actually confronted her and reminder her that we were out for a pleasant dinner and she didn't have to be throwing the plates with food into the table. Prior to that when asked for extra sauce for the chicken katsu, she disputed saying to look under the chicken. Yes it was there but we wanted more sauce. There was no acknowledgement. Not sure why unfriendly and unhappy people work in this supposedly customer service industry. The restaurant was not even busy so there were no excuses for the abruptly rude service. After confronting her with her bad service, we had nothing but good service from the rest of the service team. Unfortunately for us, a negative mood was already created. Without asking for it, we were presented with our bill and the grates was included in it. Just Wow! Living in the Vaughan area since 1 year and really love Suhsi, Japanese and Thai Cusine! Have tried a lot of different places in this area, but Ichiki is my most favorite AYCE Sushi place to go by far! Very clean and modern restaurant allows for a comfortable dining experience. The take out experience is exceptional as they're kind and efficient in taking your order over the phone and having it ready with a set time expectancy. It is overpriced for AYCE but the food quality is above average compared to other places around the area. Overall, awesome place! Update: Brought my review down to 4 stars because they do charge for extras not finished left on the plate after you finish eating at AYCE. This was not disclosed anywhere on the menu/iPad. Ichiki is a All You Can Eat sushi restaurant located in Vaughn, that's definitely a step above most sushi places in Woodbridge. Their atmosphere is key, they make a perfect date location with their chic and trendy wood decor. The service is also a step above, staff are really courteous and inform you about each dish they drop off to your table, rather than just drop and go. Their AYCE menu has a great variety, including torched sushi and nigri, as well as the classic maki rolls, teppanyaki and fried appetizers. I was pretty impressed with some of the unique maki rolls on their menu, like yam maki smothered in cheese, california rolls covered in sauteed mushrooms and garlic sauce, and the ichiki roll which is a california roll covered with a seared salmon and garlic butter. My only comment would be that their makeral didn't seem that fresh, as their torchef makeral sushi tasted a little off and rubbery. Besides that they are a fantastic AYCE sushi restaurant and you'll definitely get your money's worth with their variety! read more

This is the best sushi place in Vaughan, although on the pricey side- the food and service does not disappoint! The titaki is the best I ever tasted. They use iPad style To order. Every single thing on the menu is so good. All the standard AYCE sushi dishes are top quality, even the skewers (which is where a lot of places fall down). There's also a bit more variety than usual, for example the superb beef tataki, not to mention all the Thai dishes. The creme brulé is amazing! It's light and milky instead of the traditional thick custard, but by this point I'll have already eaten way too much and it's just right. I've been 3 times in the past year. Went here with a friend for the first time and we were pleased with our experience. We have been to many AYCE restaurants and immediately felt like this one was our new favorite. We enjoyed the service, all the dishes we ordered were presented in a lovely manner and each were delicious and cooked to perfection. Love this place! We will definitely return. read more

The hunt for good ayce sushi is tough. I wouldn't say this was the better ayce I've ever had, I would visit again if I was in the area. Like many sushi joints, Ichiki has integrated the iPad system to order. There's a great selection and variety of items. One notable example, is the pressed/torched sushi. Everyone is trying to do nowadays, but for ayce torched it's pretty good! They also had butterfish tataki which is different from the regular salmon and beef tataki. The orders come out fast and quick. Unfortunately, our group over ordered and we were charged $15 for excess food. Although, for 15 dollars we got a deal on how much sushi to take home as we ended up with 3 full takeout containers. read more
