Line was super long...as expected. Usually see the super long line when I drive by the 6th Ave location. We were enjoying a nice afternoon at Pointe Ruston and decided to finally try Ice Cream Social. The line was moving kind of slow...and it was a little irritating with the over abundance of small children running wild and the door staying open causing it to get kind of hot inside. They had several interesting flavors to try. I chose to go with Pistachio and my son went with the classic Chocolate. Kid size cones were enough for us. A little on the pricey side but good quality ice cream. Pistachio was delicious. Chocolate was good...but very rich, my son couldnt even finish it. Super glad they had an outdoor seating area. Will definitely return, but hopefully they can get more organized and move a little faster. read more

I love ice cream. This is probably the only time in my life I've failed to finish an ice cream cone. We got sorbet and cookies and cream. Sorbet was way too sweet and barely edible. Cookies and cream tasted like crushed up Oreos and also much too sweet. Absolutely the best ice cream parlor around. Their ice cream is so creamy and made locally in Tacoma. The have the traditional flavors: vanilla, chocolate, strawberry etc and they have exotic ones as well for example lavender. They make homemade waffle cones to order and they are not thin and hold the ice cream until the last drop. I got a single scoop that was more like a double and I was able to get 2 flavors!!!! This location is a little busier, it seemed, than the 6th Ave location. Seating area is comfortable for visiting, and they do a great job of helping you figure out the wonky parking validation system. I will definitely return this summer. read more

Boyfriend got one of their daily flavored shakes and i got their bread pudding with ice cream. They were pretty good, definitely worth a second trip. Only complaint would be that need to invest in some noise reduction pannels or something to capture all the noise from people. Sounds carry and echo in there. Kind of off putting. I really love Ice Cream Social and it is my choice for ice cream in the area. The thing that really keeps me coming back is the innovative flavors. My go to is mint chocolate chip with hot fudge but this last time, I went with peppermint hot cocoa. It had mini marshmallows in it and was nice and chocolaty. The peppermint was very subtle and the peppermint pieces gave it a nice little crunch. My husband had a mix of Valhalla coffee and pumpkin pie and said it tasted just like a pumpkin spice latte. The portions are also very generous and a regular is the most I can eat. They also allow people to choose 2 different flavors in one cup which is great when you can't make up your mind. Waffles are fresh and crisp, the flavors we got were legit, and the portions weren't skimpy. You're going to pay more than you would at some places, but I think it's worth it. The only drawback is that they aren't doing samples. Even Costco is doing samples again, so I do not believe Covid is the reason. It's just the excuse. Everyone knows whether or not they like rocky road. But lavender? Matcha? It would be nice to try an unusual flavor before you commit to it. I just love the location of the shop! You can grab some ice cream and take a stroll along Ruston waterfront on a sunny Tacoma day. Not to mention, there's a few other restaurants around the area that you can grab food and drinks at, and cute boutiques, as well as a movie theater. A local Tacoma favorite! This place gets packed during the the summer time, but totally worth the wait! Homemade ice cream with love and many flavors to choose from! I keep on coming back because of the great ice cream quality, great customer service, and because I support my local businesses! There was a big queue outside the shop and hence wanted to try this out when we were roaming around and it was too hot as well. The wait time was about 15-20min. We ordered spicy chocolate, roasted banana, coconut chocolate chip and they were fine. I did not like almond poppy seeds- as it tasted liquorish and I do not like that. If you like doctor pepper you would love almond poppy seeds flavor. The only flavor I liked was Rose which apparently was not pink. read more

I have heard that Ice Cream Social is SO amazing and my family (total of 8 and 2 toddlers) were so excited to finally try it. It wasn't busy when we walked in and the guy up front visably groaned at our arrival. The guy yelled next a couple times so we felt rushed. I told him we had never been in before and he responded with a blank expression (lol). I am lactose intolerant and was so excited to see other options - I got a coconut flavor which again was received with a visable eye roll and told me not to spill! Another guy who ended up ringing out our family said it was because it falls apart easily and he gave me a cup. He was a delight. About two minutes later, my niece spilled her ice cream and the original scooper guy just hung his head so dramatically. I even cleaned it all up! Obviously this dude wasn't having a great day, but I don't believe we will be back after that. It was a little over the top and the employee who rang us out obviously felt like he had to do some damage control. Ice cream was great. Other options besides dairy - AMAZING. ICS' newest location is super clean, bright, fun and welcoming. It doesn't matter what flavor you choose, they're all delicious, creamy and worth every penny!
