When I walked in, the first thing I noticed was the smell, and it didn't smell like a pie shop at all. It actually smelled more like Indian food. I love Indian food, so that's not the issue, it just wasn't what I expected from a bakery that specializes in pies. I was looking through the options and asked the employee what their most popular pie was, pretty normal question, I think. But the response I got felt rude and kind of condescending. I was told, "Everybody has their favorite, all items are popular," in a tone that just made me feel like I shouldn't have asked. I'm all for supporting local spots, but customer service really matters. That interaction alone made me feel unwelcome, that will be my last time going there.

Very classic American diner meets country farmer's market vibes. The menu was huge, with every flavor of soda imaginable. There were also options to add alcohol. The barista was very friendly, although she did seem a little peeved by my having no idea how to order. I explained that I'd never been to a soda shop before. I'd actually been expecting something more like a gift shop full of bottles of soda, versus an actual soda and drink bar. I asked her if she could just do like a cream soda. She said I could pick any flavor, and then she could add cream or not. In retrospect, I wanted vanilla. But, I also wanted to try something a little different, so I ordered almond. If I could do it over, I think I would do half and half, but sugar free. The flavor was good, but the sweetness was overpowering, and left me feeling even more thirsty. It was about six dollars for a sixteen ounce, which does seem kinda high for that amount of ice, syrup, carbonated water, and cream. However, I also felt really bad for the girl, as she mentioned that business had tanked since the closure of the Fairfax and Enumclaw bridges. Anyway, the soda was tasty, and I would definitely recommend stopping by if soda bars are your thing.

We got 3 pizzas (pepperoni, mushroom, and soppressata), beer and a lemmy for the kid. We found seats in a booth, and I took my kid to the thrift area while we waited. Before we could finish a story, our pizzas were ready. They were so good! Kid loved her pepperoni pizza and extra mushrooms. I loved them all, my husband and I enjoyed the spicy soppressata and mushroom pizzas. Worth the drive and fun to finally visit (we went for a walk on the foothills trail a short drive away). Great service, we also got a vanilla pistachio ice cream (so good!) and incline cider. I'm not sure if we'll make it this way regularly from Tacoma, it's just a bit of a drive... but we found ourselves making excuses to come back to the area (hikes! Park! Bike rides!) so we could come back for pizza again. Loved the space. Very kid friendly with coloring sheets and crayons. Lots of kids with lemmy (sparkling lemonade bottles). When we left a lot of tables were full but there was very good turnover so it wasn't too bad. Parked nearby across the street.

We walked in and picked a table, in the bar and sat down and waited and waited and waited and waited. It wasn't the same staff today that we normally encounter so maybe that was the problem.
