Freeze dried candy
Amy V.

Although the person helping us was very nice, I didn't know sweet necessities was bought by someone else even though I live in Enumclaw. The vibe was very different from what I remember not the hometown ice cream/candy shop inviting feeling just seemed very mainstream, the ice cream selection wasn't what it used to be all the yummy candies/chocolates/teas the things that made me very happy to go here just weren't there or seemed like few of. When I was pregnant with my 3rd baby I craved the double chocolate brownie ice cream everyday, bummed out to see my favorite ice cream was gone. It was very minimal the ice cream was okay not leaving an impression on me where I even want to come back sadly.

The shop in Enumclaw was the cutest little ice cream/coffee shop ever. When you walk inside the smell is absolutely amazing there is a ton of selection of sweets, flavored popcorn, scone mixes, jams and ice cream! There was only one guy scooping up ice cream I felt really bad he was super friendly and he apologized for the wait even though we didn't even wait that long we just wanted to make sure the shop front wasn't too crowded with people before stepping inside. The ice cream was absolutely delicious I will be back to enjoy all that Enumclaw has to offer!

Split Scoop of Banana Cream Pie & Double Fudge Brownie in a Waffle Cone
Jacques I.

Sweet Necessities is sweet, indeed! I had a meeting in Enumclaw and with it being over 80 degrees, I skipped the savory lunch and went instead for a sweet dessert. Best lunch! The shop is small, as there are no dine-in tables. You basically come here for takeout, but they do have outdoor tables right outside the shop. They offer Snoqualmie Ice Cream, which is a must for anyone who hasn't tried it before. It's better ice cream because they use fresh, local ingredients. They also sell fudge, tea, espresso, etc. I was greeted by a friendly employee who let me know that I could try any of their flavors, which they have a lot of. I tried the banana cream pie and the double fudge brownie, and was hooked. Fortunately, they do split scoops, so was able to get two flavors in one in a waffle cone. The spit scoop was huge, which pretty much was two scoops! No complaints. Man, I love Snoqualmie Ice Cream! The banana cream pie had a creamy banana flavor throughout with graham cracker chunks. But I was more of a fan of the double fudge brownie because I love chocolate! Just like how a brownie should be - fudgy and chunky, it was basically that in an ice cream form. Dee-lish! For anyone wanting(=needing) ice cream in Enumclaw, this is the place to get it. Glad to have found this shop on such a hot day, which was perfect for lunch.

Kahlua almond fudge in waffle cone $5.50

This was directly on the way back home on the West 164 from Crystal Mountain, so we stopped by for some ice cream. The store is pretty small, and it was packed with people. They have fresh, homemade chocolates and fudge which all looked amazing. There is also a large selection of other packaged candy and chocolates. There are SO many ice cream flavors to choose from!!! They have stacks of ice cream buckets. So I don't think you can try the flavors. I got the kahlua almond fudge in a waffle cone ($5.50), and it was sooooo gooddd. 5/5! I really liked the consistency. It was very smooth and creamy. And the waffle cone itself was really good too. My friend got the cookies & cream which was good too. We got street parking right in front of the store, but there aren't too many parking spaces. Might have to just walk more. The workers here are really friendly too. I'll definitely stop by again if I'm ever back in the area :)

Huckleberry single scoops

The ice cream is incredible!!! Huge scoops and so tasty. I love the huckleberry Always great service and such a cute little shop. More seating would be nice but at least in the summer you can enjoy your ice cream outside.

Enumclaw must try! ORDERED: ordered the mint chocolate chip and it was sweet and creamy! Have tried other flavors and would def recommend the honey lavender and the blackberry. Really like the caramels and fudges they make on site. PRICE: $-$$ Store has hand crafted sweets, ice cream, and also sells all sorts of dried teas. They also have other local sweets for sale as well ATMOSPHERE: Small and quaint shop, not much seating but great for a stop by ice cream. Clean and cute SERVICE: We came a few minutes after 8 when they close but he invited us in when we were going to leave. So nice of him to keep the shop open a few more minutes so we could get some ice cream :,)

Black licorice

We stopped in here on our way back from an 80 mile ride in 80+ degree heat. There is ample parking on the street, but it was a Sunday, so not sure how it is during the week. There is seating outside, but since it was so hot and we were riding, we preferred the sweet feel of AC when we walked in. We tossed our gear on some chairs at a table and waited for our turn to order. Keep in mind, this is a "mom and pop" shop, so every customer is waited on with patience and care. While this does make for a longer than usual wait, you can't beat the "mom and pop" experience. While we waited in line, I took time to wander the shop. Lots of WA items, dessert wines, and cards for that one of a kind gift. They have a nice selection of loose leaf teas, and I purchased a couple to try. When it was our turn to order, we had a couple of tastings before we decided on our chosen ice creams. I had a half scoop of Kahlua and a half scoop of huckleberry. An interesting combo for sure, but I likes what I likes! He had the black licorice, which he said was delicious, and a scoop of Mudd Chocolate, also delicious. Beware of the black licorice. It will turn your mouth black, or at the least, a nasty shade of gray! He wouldn't let me take a pic of that though! They also carry some delicious caramels and hand made chocolates. If you're in the area, this is a definite must stop!

And they carry some hard to find items like Werners Orange Slices (eating them always reminds me of happy days in my youth). They usually have game and exotic meats, too: bison, kangaroo, python, goat, pheasant, etc. Excellent service! And I like supporting local merchants, especially when they do such a great job! The ambiance, from the meat cleaver front door handle to the long rows of glassed in cases and the hearty welcome when you step inside, is like the butcher shops my Dad used to go to 60 years ago. I love this place. I prefer the Puyallup store, but the Buckley store is great, too. Just doesn't seem to have quite the selection.

From the outside, the place doesn't look like much, but inside it's bright, tidy and warm. The person I encountered was really pleasant, chatted me up and offered me sample of all the items I inquired about. They had a serious selection of Jerky, pepperoni, smoked meats and fresh meats, not to mentions sauces, spice, etc. Personally, I don't like sweet meat. Too many places make jerky and add way too much sugar, molasses or honey. When I saw this place had Sugar free jerky, I knew I was in good hands. I tried the original and it was perfect, so much so, I didn't even bother with the sugar free, I'm sure it's good, but since I didn't detect any sugar in the original, I stuck with it and by the clerks testimony, there was very little sugar, so clearly it was not overwhelming. I also got the black pepper and the undisputed champ, Pioneer Jerky. When I saw that, I immediately had visions of covered wagons making their way from points eats in route to unsettled Buckley. Family's staking their claim and living off the fat of the land. Sure, that may be a bold take off a sample of jerky, but you get a taste and post your own tale of origin. The pepperoni was also flavorful, but I think I'm out of my pepperoni phase. I'm used to a dryer sausage with a case that snaps and no one does that anymore. I guess that has become the lanjager. They also had hot links and I have to say, the last few hotlinks I've bought have been terrible. They are more of a spicy hot dog than true flaming sausage. I flew to Oakalnd this summer just to ship sausage home because the place I found doesn't ship and those were the worst hotlinks I've ever had. I bought 4 different varieties and it all went in the trash once I tasted it. I'd give these links 10/10 on the heat scale. I have won heat based food challenges, so I'm no punk and the heat here was real. Most would tap out. The flavor wasn't bad, but it didn't taste like a Louisianan Hot Link. I'd go with Oberto over these. Oberto just has more of a sausage flavor where these are just hot minced meat. Some sage and sausage seasoning would go a long way to elevate these. Overall disappointed, but still giving the place 5/5 for service, selection and savoriness of most of what I tasted. It's rare to get this kind of service, quality and value. I wish this place was closer to Seattle, I would be a monthly shopper.

Today, I knew I would be driving through, so I decided to check this place out. I'd looked at the website and felt confident I would find at least one item to sample and take with me. I was greeted by a young woman who was very friendly. She pointed out the selection and asked if I was looking for anything in particular. I told her I was interested in Hot Links; she asked if I wanted fresh or smoked. I advised Smoked and when she checked, they were sold out. At that point, I decided to settle for fresh and when we looked there, again they were sold out. I don't know if the links are that good, or if they just aren't gifted at managing their inventory. It's Friday and I'd like to believe you want everything stocked going into a weekend. At that point, I asked about Jerky, she handed me a pack, but I passed. It had brown sugar, which the cheap grocery store jerky's have. Meat is savory, not sweet, if you want sweet jerky, then add it to teriyaki, but plain jerky should have very little if any sugar in my opinion. I would have considered this a bust, but I was headed up the road to Blue Max anyway and they have the best jerky in the region in my opinion, unfortunately their hot link is more of a spicy hot dog than traditional Louisiana Red.
