    Garlic steak sandwich

I am not new to IB's. The customer service here is always A1. There has never been 1 time I was not greeted walking into IB's. The food is always hot, fresh, seasoned to perfection and hella good. The establishment is always clean as well. I left before my fries were done. The guy hunted me down and ran me my fries. I literally came out looking for me, tracked me down in my car and gave me my fries. If you see a local or visiting from out of town GO TO IB's you will not be disappointed.

Solid quality and taste. Service was great, smooth and efficient. Value is ok. Only take out available.

I came here cause I saw mango habanero sauce for chicken wings and was sold right away. The people here are friendly and have some great food suggestions. They are a small place and great to go to. They do have a few seats outside on the sidewalk, but more are to come. They are quick when they make your food, and it tastes amazing.

Pepper Steak Cheesesteak was delicious, just needs more cheese and mayo.

Good food, good service, in a To-go ambiance perfectly describes IB. The service was good. I ordered three pepper steak sandwiches with the works. All were made delicious. However, next time I have to make sure there's cheese and extra mayo. I could not taste the cheese. When I eat a cheesesteak, I definitely need to taste the cheese. Other than that, the ingredients were fresh, the bread was soft, and the sandwich hit the spot. I will definitely be back again.

I showed up hungry and got handed a cheesesteak so big it could probably double as a pillow. This juicy, melty, glorious mess had me wondering if I should eat it... or just carry it around like a trophy (I was able to eat half of my half and still have some left to brag about!) Bonus points for the staff -- super friendly and helped with recommendations without feeling like an upsale. If you want a meal that's doubles as a workout, IB's is your spot. Just grab napkins... lots of napkins.

A bit on the pricey side but overall very tasty. I think if I go back I'll tell them to put everything to the side so my sandwich isn't soggy. Also with them not having any type of seating, you have to walk to find a place to sit and enjoy your food. Oh, I absolutely loved the garlic fries. And if you're sharing, the LRG is ALOT to eat. It was 2 of us and we barely ate half.

Great spot! Came a little before noon on a Thursday and was worried I'd hit a but lunch rush but it wasn't busy at all. There was a guy getting a sandwich ahead of me and then it was my turn. The sandwich was fantastic as usual. Large portions and a big hit with friends. Parking is tough but usually you can find a spot somewhere along the block

Downtown Berkeley has so many great food options that you really can't go wrong. IB's came highly recommended by a friend, and it didn't disappoint. While the sandwiches may seem pricey, the portion sizes make up for it -- the large can easily feed 2-3 people. For my first visit, I tried the garlic steak cheesesteak (regular size). The flavors were good, but I thought there was a bit too much honey garlic sauce, making the sandwich a little too sweet for my taste. That said, it still came together nicely. Next time, I'd probably go for a more savory or traditional option. Parking can be challenging since the area is always busy with foot traffic. We luckily got a spot a couple blocks away and had a pickup order ready to-go to eat in the alley a few restaurants down.

Omg!!! Coming home from the Oakland zoo and we were told about this little hole in the wall Philly spot. I am so glad we decided on stopping by. It was the best Philly cheese steak I have ever had!! We got the regular with mushrooms and peppers. So much flavor. Every bite I took I was like hell yes. This is just a small counter so no inside or outside seating but we just ate it standing outside

Writing this literally minutes after devouring this gas sandwich. At first, I was a little skeptical about the $16 price tag for a regular, but the second they handed it to me and I felt the weight, I was like, "oh yeah, this is worth it." First impressions: it's in a nice part of Berkeley, super close to campus. The place has a clean, minimalist aesthetic, and very tidy inside. No seating though, so definitely more of a grab-and-go spot. I got the spicy steak regular, and the guy making it clearly knew what he was doing. I overheard him talking about his technique, love when people actually care about what they're making. Adds a little extra something, lol. As soon as I opened it up, I was hit with the cheesiest, most packed steak sandwich. Absolutely delicious. If you're on the fence about the spicy option, it's kind of like the spicy sauce from Dyar (not overpowering, just the right kick). Next time I'll probably ask for fewer jalapeños, but other than that? Perfect. Super filling, super satisfying, and the service was clean and responsive. Definitely coming back.

This place is located next to Berkeley campus and conveniently opens late (12 AM or 2 AM). Wanted a place to eat before going to the Greek Theater. Ambiance: The place feels like a very open space, the doors are wide open. There isn't a place to eat indoors so do find a spot outside to eat, there is an area nearby for outdoor seating. Service: The staff was very chill and nice. The vibes were good IB's Original $14 (3/5): I ordered everything on it, but it tasted very bland. I can barely taste the sauces or cheese; it tastes very much like meat and lettuce. The regular size is huge enough to share amongst two people. Garlic house cut fries $5 (4/5): This was good and tasted better than the sandwich. It was crispy but did sog after a bit of time. This only had minced garlic on fries so don't expect it to taste of buttery garlic with cheese shreds. Eating it with ranch did enhance it Sweet chili wings $8 (4/5): Ironically enough this tasted a whole lot better than the sandwich. It was crispy and juicy. The flavor was good and not overwhelming. $8 to feed me with 5 wings would be enough to keep me full. I think this would be a great late-night place for drunk food, maybe I didn't get the right cheesesteak however pretty satisfied with everything else but the sandwich. Ordered a combo along with the wings and it came down to about $30 so it's kinda pricey.

Delicious authentic Philly cheesesteak sandwiches! Lots of creative options. Everything we tried was good. My favorite was the Classic Philly cheesesteak. We also got the garlic steak, surf and turf, onion rings, and tater tots Service was quick. No seating but we didn't have to wait long Decor was cute and emphasized their east coast inspo/roots

One of my biggest pet peeves is when restaurants reduce the guality or quantity of their meal to cut costs while charging premium prices. I will say I didn't mind paying a few dollars more for their subs in the past. I went there today for the first time in a couple of years, ordered a regular size basic ruben sandwich (no add-ons) and was ok paying nearly $18 dollars for just the sandwich until they handed it to me. what I got was a small 6" sub. When did their subs shrink?? in this economy we are all struggling. I get it, things cost more but Craves' owner is not doing his patrons a service by charging them premiums while cutting back on the meals. If you're ok paying that much for a shrunken sub, more power to you. I l, however, will not be going back there.

The veggie meat was ultra salty and the Beast sandwich had sweet strawberry jam. I prefer peanut butter and jam instead of meat and jam. Only veggie was chopped lettuce and barely saw anything else. Overwhelming flavor was the jam which was squeezing out of the sandwich. Disappointed- was hoping for an impressive sandwich at this price point.

We found it very tasty, but paying over $25 for this on DoorDash--certainly not worth the price even though we really enjoyed it. The spicy chicken parm sandwiches were not good. The chicken breast was flabby, and came across like it was one of those frozen cooked Tyson jobs. I would be very surprised if they actually breaded chicken breast, fried it, and made the sandwich with that. It was mushy, and the breading was like paste on the chicken. Pretty awful. They charge extra for sauce, which is a little much, given that we paid $21 for each sandwich. But we figured out pretty quickly why they do this: there was hardly any sauce on the sandwiches. And precious little cheese. We each ate half of our sandwich and figured we doctor the leftovers up the next day with a jar of Rao's and a bag of shredded Italian cheese. That helped, but nothing could save that chicken. The meatballs. We paid $15 for four, and we had high hopes, but they were so mushy that they fell apart in the sauce, and I couldn't tell what was sauce and what was meatballs. The only flavor that came across was fennel. Why any meatball should be so fennel-forward strikes me as bizarre. We got what we thought were pretty basic things, and they were fails. If an Italian place can't make a decent chicken parm sandwich nor a decent meatball, that says something. If you go, try the pinsa.

Awhile back, I tried to bring as much business to Star Meat as I could because 1. it's a small business and 2. it's inside Star Grocery (which I LOVE, so it's convenient). When I would go there, there would often be 2 or 3 people behind the counter and oftentimes I would be the only customer. I felt like I had to stand there forever before anyone even acknowledged I existed. Each person would be busy doing something, but there was no "I'll be with you in 2 minutes." Finally, I went one day and there were 3 workers behind the counter chatting with each other. I was the only customer and was standing around 6 feet away from them, looking right at them. They went on with there conversation (not doing any other work) for a full 5 minutes. Finally I thought, "OK, they really don't seem to want my business, so I can go to any one of 4 other places and get what I want." That was a year or two ago. So, today I thought, why not give it another try, it's certainly convenient. Again, I'm the only customer at the counter. One guy is washing equipment and two guys are making sandwiches. I know that they know that I'm there, there are mirrors all along the back wall exactly for the purpose of seeing the customers. After around 4 minutes I think, who knows how long I'm going to be standing here. Maybe they have to make 20 sandwiches and I'll be here for a half hour. So, I left. I don't have anything like this experience at the 4 other meat counters I go to in the area. I'm totally fine waiting if I have some sense that I'm waiting for a purpose and that the worker will get to me as soon as they can. But at Star Meat, it feels like I'm more of an inconvenience than a customer. "Hi, I'll be with you as soon as I can," goes a long way.

I've noticed on several occasions that when I arrive shortly after opening--sometimes within 30 minutes to an hour--there are still crumbs on the chairs, tables, and floor, even when there haven't been many customers yet.
