I love sandwiches and this place has delicious ones!! That is a fact. The food quality is great, the timing is quick, ordering online is easy. I knocked one star because I have written modifications both times I have visited and they were ignored. This isn't a huge deal to me because I understand that things happen, especially in a busy restaurant such as this. However, if you have a food allergy or something like that, I would probably call and talk to someone as to save both of you time when you pick it up. As far as pandemic safety, it seems that they try and enforce protocols. I just don't get the high reviews for this place. The sandwiches we got we're greasy, overcooked, and flavorless. Well, unless you count grease as a flavor. The lettuce was old and wilted, the tomatoes we're mushy/mealy, and the sauce was really just a load of mayo slathered all over the place. The meat... Why would you do this to meat? What did it do to you? What would make you cook the life out of the meat to the point that it's basically just chopped rubber with nothing left to it. Just garbage. The fries were actually worse. Dude, the best cheesesteak in the East Bay Area. We were in the Berkeley area to pick up our Yelp goodie bag and wanted to try something new for lunch. I was craving sandwiches and saw that this was nearby, I had to try! I must say they do a great job on marketing via social media; they post tons of appetizing pictures and do a good job highlighting local artists, players, etc in the East Bay. This place has a great setup for the pandemic.. it's really easy to order take-out and go... with no place to sit. Customer service was extremely friendly per my fiance who went in to order... the cashier asked how he was doing and was pleasant the whole time. There were TV's showing local sports while you wait, which wasn't that long. My fiance was in and out in less than 10 minutes. The menu has great selections from a variety of hoagies, burgers, fries, etc. I had the regular spicy cheesesteak with lettuce/tomato/cheese/grilled onions and my fiance had the regular buffalo cheeseteak with everything in it; both with grass fed beef. It was about $11 for each sandwich, which is a steal since the portions were big. We ate it 20 minutes later when we got home and it still looked and tasted fresh. First bite, I was amazed at the juicy beef, savory peppers, and the spicy sauce. It was the PERFECT spice and I love to eat spicy. Everything included the veggies blended well together. They provided a very hearty portion of meat and toppings! The regular size is enough to fill up one very hungry person... I ate only half of my sandwich and was content the entire day, didn't even snack. My fiance enjoyed his sandwich, he ate half then ate the other half 20 minutes later because it was too good. Greasy, cheesy, and juicy is how these sandwiches are. Best to eat in you car so you can taste the freshness. They stuff the sandwiches with toppings so even a 6 inch is sooo filling! The bread holds up well with all the toppings as well so that's a huge plus. *My friend is a huge fan of the bacon steaks so definitely give that a shot. ALSO: There are only 2 tables for outside seating so it's more of a to-go kind of place. The meat was dry, the cheese wasn't melty, and it wasn't "juicy". Considering the line and praises it was getting from the guy ahead of me in line, it wasn't much to brag about. It left a lot to be desired in my opinion. Grand Total with Tax = $21.30....not worth it for what I got. Overall: Maybe it was the fact they were about to close in about 30 min before I got there. I felt my "Cheesesteak" was a bit overcooked, but then again, that's no excuse for a not so great sandwich. This place has a lot of hype. Nothing wrong with the hype at all but in our opinion the hype doesn't match the food. These are probably some of the worst garlic fries we've ever had. Freezer fries with a little bit of garlic over the top. We were joking that these were fries with garlic gently sliced somewhere in the vicinity of the fries because the flavor was so lacking. Each cheese steak was massive which is a point in their favor but not the type of massive that excites you to have leftovers.
