This was the worst meal I had in Rome. Even the fried stuff tasted bland and off. The mussels was okay. The lasagna was lacking something, but I can't pinpoint it. Nothing I had was worth mentioning. The service was good. He suggested that we get a bottle of wine, but it was noon timeo and we have a long day ahead! The house wine was warm and not good. We were hungry after spending 3+ hours at the Vatican Museum. We found this place on Google and it was about 10 minutes walk. We should have gone back to the hotel and eat there. We stayed near this restaurant and I was eyeing it to have my birthday dinner. Every night I saw happy people and families gathered here. I decided to give it a try and was not disappointed. There was a semi fixed menu. A choice of meat or seafood. The waiter was very accommodating and flexible, giving us choices even with the fixed menu and they didnt even charge my 7 year old. When they found out it was my birthday everything ramped up! They brought a birthday cake, limoncello,.....more limincello, sent us home with limoncello. Gave my kids rosaries. It was so fun and the food was very good. Fresh seafood and yummy pasta. What a great birthday in Rome! read more

After visiting the Vatican we were super hungry and wanted to get a little bit away from the crowded touristy places just outside the museums, and this was such a wonderful find. Like most places in Rome, the menu has a ton of options, but we went with what our waiter recommended when we said we wanted seafood and got the seafood antipasti. For $20 USD, it's such a bargain and super fresh. It came with fried calamari, octopus, mussels, and salmon and they all tasted so fresh and different than any we'd had in the US. It's also much quieter than the bar-type restaurants we passed first, which we quite enjoyed. They have a nice restaurant, but of course we took advantage of dining al fresco, on the small but sweet patio. Definitely recommend seafood antipasti and sharing - we couldn't finish it us 2, and we were hungry! read more

They refused to show us a menu until we insisted. The prices were ridiculous. Good thing one of our traveling companions suggested they may be fleecing us. They treated us like there was something wrong with us when we challenged them. Good riddance. We walked out without eating or paying. Avoid this place. Go to San Pietrini up the street instead. It's a pretty bad experience for a restaurant for our first day stay in Rome. They told us they do not have a menu because everything is set for everyone: a set of appetizers, main course and I don't even know if they have dessert. They started serving us food and we didn't complain since they said everything is set for everyone. Just one whole dinner course for every customer in the restaurant. But when others started to arrive,we noticed that whatever we received was different than what others are getting served. We asked the waiter how come we didn't get this and that and his response was: "well sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't" WHATEVER HAPPENED TO EVERYTHING IS SET FOR EVERYONE. This restaurant was a recommendation from our tour guide. It was fantastic! Be prepared -- it was the type of place that they just bring you a ton of food, and you pay a set price per person. We got antipasti, two primi's per person, and a family style platter for secondi -- then a platter of fruit and little pastries for desert. All was very good! And for all the quality food we got, the price was reasonable. About 200 euros for 5 adults -- and that included 3 bottles of house wine. read more

We stumbled upon the restaurant while lost and hungry in Rome. I am not a seafood fan, but we were beckoned into this spot from the sidewalk and we decided to take a chance on the food. I must say that the charming and hospitable staff made this one of the best dining experiences ever! My dining partners who enjoy seafood spoke highly of most of the dishes. I really, really loved this restaurant. Its located just outside the north walls of Vatican City. People who work in the Vatican or who are regular visitors often find this a wonderful place to get away. It's definitely a local hang out and not a tourist destination. But, I've always found the food at the local hang outs much better and significantly less expensive. It's very small, but always packed. It specializes in Sardinian cuisine. Due to the location of Sardinia, it should not be a surprise that Sardinian dishes often involve fresh seafood. This restaurant has seafood delivered daily, so you always have the most fresh in season catch available. The sardines were a most wonderful surprise. My previous experience of sardines was with the ones canned in mustard that my father ate on soda crackers every New Years's Eve. I will never think of sardines in the same way after eating at this restaurant. Fresh sardines are wonderful. Almost sweet. Not fishy. Devine. read more

Not bad, but it is true that their "concept" was a bit of a surprise. I thought I would get a menu to choose my dishes. But in fact when you sit down they just ask you "fish or meat?". I answered fish and after that in less than 1 minute I had all the antipasti on the table (I guess it happens the same if you choose meat). The only problem is that you don't know what you will get. It would be better if they explain you what is included in the menu. Mainly with the "primi", you cannot even guess looking at other tables: as first course we got a small plate with risotto and a small plate with spaghetti with lobster; another table got a big plate of risotto and a big plate of spaghetti with clams; another table got just spaghetti with clams... I found the food quite good, but I had higher expectations, and to me there was way too much food, so if you like to eat a lot of good quality food then this is your place. Honestly, if I would be more hungry I would give them a 4th star. read more

We ate here as an impromptu lunch on the way to the pantheon and it was a HUGE mistake. I came in wanting pasta and they shove this prefix menu shit on us that served some prosciutto and mozzarella then this oily stiff pasta dish then some oily cream based lasagna then this overly dry piece of crap meat. I was so furious and I asked for a menu but they keep talking about it's a prefix and I look around all the regulars are served these pasta dishes. And to top it off the fuckers charge us for an extra water bottle we never asked for and never drank. I hate this place. read more

This was our first night in Rome and our cab driver suggested this place - when we got there they were booked but my husband explained we just got off a plane and really had no idea where to eat-the host disappeared and came back and sat us at table for two. This place was recommended to us by our hotel for my birthday dinner, a place only frequented by locals. And we were super glad that we went to this restaurant....on our first night in Rome. We super duper enjoyed the unlimited food & wine as well as the friendliness of the staff. When we got there, we were only asked two things: seafood or meat? And red or white wine? After that, the food (and wine) kept on coming. After some food served, we already begged them to stop or just give us small portions. They even served a big tiramisu cake - on the house - for my birthday! And some flowers for me, too. To say that they serve good food is an understatement. They serve only fresh seafood and a lot more. I couldn't understand why people were disappointed with the service and food. For us, we were just too happy for everything that we had here. Not a great place but not bad either. Very attentive waiting staff, tables outside ( though the plastic chairs are a little funky. Quiet side street. Wonderful food, particularly the incredibly fresh seafood. The restaurant is located very close to the Vatican, in an area otherwise full of bad tourist restaurants. This place is an exception. Packed on the night I ate here, so if you're looking to score one of the tables outside, you'll want to get here early (which for dinner in Rome is anytime before 8 pm), or better yet, call to make a reservation. It's busy, because it's really good. The one thing to be aware of at this restaurant is that ordering is limited to what is on offer - there are no menus, in the manner of a traditional "cucina romana". I hadn't expected this, as I Quattro Mori describes itself as a Ristorante, a more formal category of restaurant that usually features menus. That shouldn't be a problem if you're flexible (you are offered choice of fish dishes, or meat). However, if you're eating with a group that may include picky eaters, or those who feel more comfortable ordering from a menu, you may want to give this place a pass. read more

There was no menu. The waiter asked to choose between fish and meat. My wife and I both chose fish some how we got a super dry meat dish. He said that everyone would get the same foods besides the entree. But I looked as everyone got some really good looking clams, escargot, and spaghetti while I was still sitting on starters. Some people just walked in and got the other dishes. I feel so discriminated against. I wouldn't go here if you don't speak Italian because they would totally cheat you. The worst part of all was once they cleared my table of starters, they never brought anything else. I watched as others got their food. I even asked the waiter if I was gonna get those and he said yeah it's coming but it never came. I was literally the only table without any food. After about 15 mins or so I decided to get the check and leave. They wanted to charge me the same price as everyone €45 per person but asked them why I didn't get this and that and they answered sometimes you get it sometimes you don't. I thought it was the same menu for everyone just a different entree dish.... The waiter smiled and said sometimes you get it sometimes you don't and said I can't help you. I kept complaining and he finally gave me a discount (-€10). I asked for a spaghetti dish for take away since I wasn't full off of the starters and he said, take away is €20. I was done at this point. I figured it's no point in trying to argue anymore I just wanted fellow yelpers to know of the injustice and that you shouldn't go here if you were thinking about it! read more
