I've had the pleasure of working and travelling in Italy for some four weeks in September/October, including 2 weeks in Rome. This has enabled me to sample a wide number of restaurants and Elenora d'Arborea has been the best of the lot. I've visited this restaurant in the past during brief business trips and much enjoyed the experience. But after numerous visits this last month my esteem for the food here has been confirmed. On my most recent visit, I was joined by my wife and friends. They too concluded that Elenora was the best meal they had in their time in Italy. The experience begins with an always-cheerful greeting from Francesco, the maitre d'hotel. The dining room is elegant and well appointed. The staff is very congenial and provides efficient and courteous service. The cuisine, however, is what excels here, especially the seafood including a Sardinian specialty, raw fish: tuna and salmon tartare, sea bass carpaccio, very fresh Mediterranean shrimp (thin, delicate, and delicious served raw over a tray of ice). On the cooked side, the pastas are superb. I'm fond of their home-made pasta with porcini, and their linguine with lobster and pacino tomatoes. And their sea salt roasted sea bass is the best I've ever had. For dessert I can't resist the beautifully presented Chantilly cream with crumbled puff pastry. But this restaurant has introduced me to a fabulous new world of wines: those from the vineyards of Sardinia. Being totally unfamiliar with Sardinian wines, I left the selection to my excellent server. The bianchi (white wine) he poured for us was exquisite, perhaps the finest Italian/Sardinian white I have tasted, better than those very fine Vernaccia's I previously came across. But the real revelation was the rosso (red wine) he selected. Corash Cannonau di Sardegna surpassed the several very good Brunello's, Barolo's and Amarone's I had discovered elsewhere on this trip. I took only two bottles of wine back to the US. Both were this inexpensive Sardinian gem. This restaurant is a 10 minute cab ride from the central tourist areas (i.e. Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps, etc.). But it is more than worth the added time and 7 Euro cab fare.

Highly recommend this restaurant. Must visit!!! Very welcoming and friendly staff and family style restaurant. The waiters were very intimately serving us with welcoming persecco ( on the house ) with small appetizers to start with. Waiter kindly recommended good and well priced white wines for our seafood appetizer course menu (which was $25 per person and it was totally worth it and had 8 different dishes including the cold raw shellfish dishes )we could not order the main menu even though there were so many seafood pastas and fish dishes we wanted to try. For the dessert, they kindly serviced with three different kinds of dessert alcohol (Grappa) with extra dessert cookies. I would definitely recommend this restaurant when you visit rome.

Had lunch here by luck, as usual I relied con Yelpers to recommend something and found this place nearby which had very good reviews. And it was a very pleasant surprise! It is mostly a seafood restaurant but they have also very good meat dishes and vegetables as well! The salmon with truffle oil we had to start was out of this world. They welcome you with a complimentary glass of prosecco which is always awesome in my book!

The restaurant isn't the fanciest, nor the swankiest that we went to in Rome, but it was by far the best.

They are known for the best Truffle anything anywhere. lol. A little tricky to find and very small. Maybe 6 or 7 tables at most. I was surprised when I read the Yelp reviews that a few of my awesome Yelpers also dined here too and gave high marks so I was very excited to give them a try. After ordering some tasty vino we went the Focaccia with mozzarella, black truffle with a truffle cream sauce. The Focaccia was lite and a thin crust. Topped with some delicious mozzarella and black truffle made this appetizer and home run choice. After the Focaccia I decided to stay on theme and went with the Fettuccine al tartufo nero e porcini (fettuccine black truffle & porcini mushrooms). Holy cow, a delicious culinary delight. Some other hits of the table included the beef fillet with green pepper sauce & Digione mustard. Astice grigliato, verdure al vapore e maionese alla curcuma (Grilled lobster with steamed veggies in a mayonnaise turmeric sauce and a Lasagna, tartufo nero, funghi, mozzarella e grana (lasagna with blach truffle, mushrooms, mozzarella and Parmesan cheese) All were just amazing. Impeccable service and an old world Italian charm decor made this a delightful experience.

What a hidden gem in Rome!…read more Went here about a year ago and still think about this meal to this day. My party stayed here a long time, and the restaurant eventually filled up (we got there early for dinner). The break down of what my party ordered: Pane (bread) x2 - €2 - didn't really order this, it was just brought out at the start of the meal. Sauté Di Cozze (mussels sauté) - €10 - not a huge mussels fan, but I ate a couple. Looked really good, so I'm sure if you like mussels you would enjoy this dish. Risotto alla crema di scampi (risotto with scampi cream) - €12 - the scampi cream really stood out in this dish. I'm a big fan of risotto so this dish was still pretty good, but I personally don't care for scampi cream. Spaghetti alle carbonara (pasta with beaten eggs, bacon, pecorino cheese) - €10 - I've had carbonara before this (and have even made it myself at home), but I've never had carbonara as good as this. Usually I get sick of cream sauces on pasta pretty quickly, but I could eat their carbonara all day everyday. Definitely my favorite dish of the evening. - the pasta was the most al dente pasta I've had in my whole time in Italy. Spigola alla vernaccia (sea bass, olives, vernaccia wine, cherry tomato) - €15 - solid dish, didn't stand out. Panna cotta della casa (homemade panna cotta) - €5 - classic panna cotta, nothing special but still a great way to finish off the meal. To drink: 1/2 liter of wine - €7 - delicious for a wine and light, got me tipsy 1 liter of water - €2.50 Limoncello on the house! - the staff was very generous with their limoncello. It made the experience at this restaurant even better than it already was! Although there were a lot of dishes that weren't to my liking, it was more because I'm not a fan of the raw ingredient rather than the restaurant preparing them poorly. Since the carbonara really changed my life, the alcohol was generous, and the staff was amazing, I still give this restaurant five stars. I would definitely come back here again and recommend it to others.

**WARNING**. Dine here at your own peril!…read more I don't usually write reviews but this one forced me. It's the worst restaurant I ever ate in Italy (out of dozens I've been to). Me and my girlfriend were walking back from the Collesium and decided to stop here for dinner. The wait to sit down was not long but there were too many issues after that and the best way to describe it is with bullets points. - It took 90 minutes from the time we sat down to getting our food. I undertand that this is a tourity area and things get busy, but during all this time waiting there was no check-in by the staff to see if we needed more drinks or water. - Salad was ordered and got to our table 60 minutes in, "dry" with no dressing or even basix olive oil. Eventually we asked for some oil/vinegar and we were charged extra for it. - Got a glass of wine and water was evidently added to it. My girlfriend also thought it tasted watered down. I should've complained but at that point I was already wanting to eat and just leave. - Food eventually got to us cold and stale. I got the Tagliata de Manzo and it must be the most gammy meat I ever ate. For a good comparison, imagine chewing bubble gum with bloody meat flavor. - The nail in the coffin was when I tried to go to the bathroom and the server inside kicked me out (I was sitting outside). Extremely rude and aggressive. Granted there may be lots of tourist just trying to use the facilities but the lack of awareness and willingness to check if I was customer was baffling. I ended up not going to the bathroom and just asked to the bill as I was done dealing with the BS. Note that this was also not cheap. The bill landed at 80 euros for basically a lettuce and tomato salad, two mediocre meals, one glass of watered down wine and an extra touch of disrespect for desert. NOT RECOMMENDED! Avoid at all costs. EDIT - We also got food poisoning from this place. Ruined our vacation. It's was a gift that kept on giving!
