As a Southern American trying to navigate Rome, I'm still completely confused. I cannot for the life of me figure out north vs. south or east vs. west in this city. Every street somehow looks historic, beautiful, and exactly the same. By 9 PM, after walking more than 10 miles today and standing in countless lines -- one for over an hour -- I was exhausted. I was close to my hotel and started looking for somewhere to eat. I had already passed Sofia earlier and really didn't want to backtrack even a few blocks. But after going the wrong direction again and somehow ending up right back near it, I figured that was a sign. So, Sofia it was. My ordering skills in Italy are still not exactly professional level. I really need a local Italian to help me. Yeah, I'm slow... remember, I'm from the South. I ordered the Mezza Maniche Carbonara. I mean, you can't really go wrong with noodles, cheese, and pork, right? A few minutes after ordering, they brought out this little appetizer-looking thing that I'm still confused about. It was this tiny little ball about the size of my thumb. I took one bite and it was absolutely delicious. Honestly, I'm not even sure I want to know what was in it, but at that point I was hungry enough not to ask questions. Then the pasta arrived. Drumroll... First bite? Absolutely divine. Rich, creamy, cheesy pasta with perfectly cooked pork mixed throughout. Fantastic. I devoured the entire plate, chased it down with a Coke, grabbed my glass bottle of water, and walked down the street carrying it like a Roman wino. Great food, great atmosphere, and a perfect little outdoor dining setup on one of Rome's tiny city streets

I searched for vegan restaurants nearby on my recent trip…read moreto Rome and was thankful this was easy to walk to and in close proximity to many of the main sites. When I walked in, I was greeted and was able to easily find a seat to relax in. The restaurant was very comfortable and cozy with great decor and a lovely ambiance. There was seating both inside and outside and while the outside would have been better for people watching, I opted to dine inside, as it was brutally hot outside. Since I had used up most of my data during my trip, I was thankful for their free and fast WiFi. I was able to view their vast menu and ended up ordering the carbonara, as eating pasta in Rome is a must! If I didn't know this was a vegan restaurant, I never would have known from the creamy pasta sauce and the savory meaty faux bacon pieces. The pasta was also very fresh and doughy and seemed handmade. The carbonara really hit the spot for me! I ended up ordering the tiramisu for dessert, as I knew I would probably never find another vegan version in Rome! It was so decadent, creamy and indulgent with a great mixture of espresso and chocolate and even contained some Oreo pieces. The service was very warm and friendly and I am glad they were able to speak English to assist with the ordering process. It was on the slower side, but I didn't mind as I was in no rush and wanted to really relax and indulge at their lovely restaurant. I highly recommend coming here on a trip to Rome!

With low light and candles on the table, the ambiance was as romantic as it gets. The door was propped open and beautiful music wafted in from around the corner. We started by sharing the tonnarelli pasta which had cacio cheese, lemon, mint, and Sichuan pepper. My first course was followed by duck with apricots and a caramelized raspberry reduction. The duck was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the sweetness from the fruit and reduction that were paired with it. I ended the night with a strawberry semifreddo that was cold and refreshing. We loved the food and the atmosphere so much that we found ourselves there again the following night. On night two, the dining room was packed and we had the option of taking the last seat by the door or eating in their bakery next door. We opted for the bakery. There was one couple finishing when we were seated so we essentially had a private dining area for the night, which was perfect. They started us with bruschetta and olives and then we split the maltagliati with white ragu sauce, red pepper cream, and pecorino cheese. It was "lick the bowl" delicious! I got the chicken thighs stuffed with tomatoes and olives and served with a balsamic vinegar reduction, which was full of flavor. On our last night in Italy, I couldn't pass on a proper tiramisu. I can't say enough great things about this place. We literally just happened upon it based on the location of our accommodations but it was definitely one of the best finds of our entire trip.

The cocktails were very meticulously prepared and very good. Once we ordered food, we transitioned to wine. We split the meat and cheese plate, which was one of the best plates I've had for the quality and quantity. My friend got the gnocchi, which she said was one of the best pasta dishes she's had in her life. I had the cacio e pepe, which was very simple and delicious. The place was rather slow from the service standpoint, but other than that, we can see ourselves coming back again or recommending it to our friends!
