We were able to get seated inside which was great to escape the heat. We ordered the Roman Triptych which was fried very well with mozzarella as our favorite. They gave us some complimentary bread which was great for dipping into our pasta sauce. Then we got the truffle carbonara pasta that was cooked excellently with great flavor. We ordered the chef's meatballs which came with 4 different pasta sauces which were cool to experiment with. Then finally the steak was cooked very well and quite delicious with some salt and a refreshing salsa. Oscar said I wouldn't leave this review so I had to prove him wrong! Our first day we arrived starving and they let us in even though they were prepping for dinner service. Luciano and Oscar took great care of us and the pizza was fantastic. We had the artichoke and ham as well as the pecorino and guanciale which were both fantastic. One of the best meals we had in Rome and super convenient to our AirBnb and the Vatican. We came based on our host's recommendation and great yelp reviews. Started with a Greek salad and tried the cacio e Pepe and a salami pizza. Finished the meal with berry cheese cake. Everything was really delicious and fresh. Service was also excellent! The restaurant itself is beautiful and has cozy booths, large tables and intimate tables. It was raining when we went but they also have outdoor seating. This is the example of a great restaurant that is not far from the Vatican. While it does have all the signs of a tourist trap, in this location the reason is genuine courtesy. It may look underwhelming, but even the locals know this place is good. First things first, everything is available in English. The waitress speaks pretty good English as well. They have a wide variety of the traditional pizzas of the area, and keep in mind that just about everything on the menu is Italian individual sizing, meaning probably better to share or order two and share. The mister bosco pizza was great, with good seasoning and nice wood fired crust. Likewise the eggplant Parmigiana pizza was excellent, with good seasoning. The eggplant itself was perfectly cooked. I also had the Orrechiata pasta here, which was great. The Orrechiata was a little bit smaller but pasta in Italy is basically considered small plate /appetizer material. Oh, and the desserts are awesome. This restaurant also has a great and inexpensive house red wine that I would definitely suggest. I did notice that some kind of ant kept falling on our table from somewhere, but I don't think that is the restaurants fault and may have been seasonal ? Good food near Vatican City. I've had quite unusual home made lasagne, it was with artichokes sauce - very good. I've also tried seafood pasta with a head of a tiger shrimp in the middle of the pasta! Next day I've had one of the traditional pasta (don't remember its name) - was OK, but a bit too salty. I've also tried pizza with meat - very good. I like also their red house wine. Service is nice and speaks English. It's good to know, that they charge fixed rate for service and put it onto the bill, it's 2 euro per person, doesn't matter what you've ordered. read more

Woah! This restaurant is definitely the first one I want to review from our trip to Rome because it deserves it. It was so good the first time, that we came back the next night. It looks like a sleepy Irish pub, but that is totally deceiving. Let's talk about the important stuff first. Their drinks menu does not disappoint. Several different beers on top, a great double Jack on the rocks, and what I highly recommend is the house wine. This house wine (both red and white) would compete with the most pricey bottles around the city, but honestly, just try it. Second, the menu seemed unique but not overbearing. Our waitress made some really great recommendations. We ordered a variety of pasta, steak, fish, and salads. We were amazed at how well everything was prepared! Delicious, beautiful, and well thought out. The pea shrimp scampi, pepper grilled flank steak, pesto gnocchi, and potato cake were my favorites of the two nights. But really, this place wouldn't be the same without the patient and happy staff they have. The locals seem to love it, but they are extremely accommodating to the tourist that happen to stop in. We closed the place down both nights and couldn't have been happier to stumble back to our lodgings. One thing to note if you're sensitive to this is that the outdoor seating is a little noisy, but that's because you're in ROME! This place was an excellent find and would definitely go there for a third time. You may ask why I didn't give it 5 stars; My 5 star ratings are reserved for the absolute best of the best. read more

I had lasagna which was good, but not like the lasagna I make in the United States. My husband had chicken rolls which were wrapped in bacon. Loved the flavor. Also had a chocolate soufflé - yum! Enjoyed a meal here on our first night in Rome, as it was local. And one of the dishes just impressed our mouths so darn much. The Green Ravioli (leeks, potatoes with butter, parmesan, honey and hazelnut sauce. Small for a main but oh so very very succulent! We also shared an eggplant pizza which was very nice. Our side of artichokes with mint was more interesting than it was tasty, but still good. I felt it was a shame that they had the Italian football up on the big screen, especially as no-one actually seemed me be watching, but apart from that it was a successful outing. So we went back a few nights later for an encore. Unfortunately this was not quite as good. The ravioli was still delicious, but slightly less so due to the complete absence of honey. We requested a side of honey so that we could put some on to recreate the original flavour. I think the were bemused by this entreaty but they acquiesced. The rosemary potatoes side we ordered also contained no discernible taste of rosemary. Was this just a special forgetting ingredients night? Again they were still good though. I had some kind of Millefeuille cheesey pasta dish. It was ok, but I preferred the pizza or the ravioli. They serve 3 beers. I went for the Menabria doppel malto, which was decent. The rating is an average across the two visits. I'd certainly eat here again and recommend it if you are in the area! read more

The host was very prompt in seating us, the service was amazing we got water within the first minute of being in the restaurant. When it comes to the food I couldn't of asked for more. I ordered a pizza which was priced very reasonably my girlfriend got macaroni with bacon which was also priced very reasonably. We even got the chance to order dessert the bill came out to around €25 for a full meal. On this trip, we found a few restaurants we really liked, and stuck with them to return for a second experience. I San Pietrini was no different. They do charge a €2 service charge per person, which is common, but on our first visit, they didn't give us bread. They did the second time we went in. They have a huge screen on the wall for football viewing, which I think takes away from their place. But in fairness, we don't like venues with huge tv's or sports broadcasted. We sat at tables with the intention of avoiding sight of the screen. On our first visit, we had the eggplant parmigiana pizza and green ravioli with potato and leek, and topped with honey and nuts, and side of artichokes with mint. The pizza was good. Crust was done really well so that it was fluffy on the inside. Pasta was delicious, slightly sweet, very unique and tasty. Artichokes were eaten, we liked the mint and they were okay, but not the best ever. The second time we went in, I ordered the pasta again because it was so good before. It lacked honey, which was disappointing after the first time. I asked the waitress for a side of honey, and she was hesitant at first, saying it's a subtle flavour. I told her that I believe it was forgotten and she again said it was a light flavour. Then I said I'd had the same dish two nights prior and could definitely taste the difference. Finally she brought some out, and I drizzled it myself. It was then the dish I'd had before and very nice, but annoying that I had to *argue* to get it accomplished. Chris ordered the Millefoglie Melanzan... Eggplant, arugula pesto, melted Parmesan and tomato couli. It looked like an eggplant Parmesan with fondue cheese on top. It was presented nicely, and I enjoyed a bite, but mine was better. This visit they gave us bread, which was appreciated. We ordered the roasted potatoes with rosemary. The potatoes we got were really nice, perfectly cooked, but I didn't notice any rosemary. Sad that they seem to have skipped a few of the ingredients we noticed were absent. read more

DO NOT EAT HERE.... I am gluten free and although I sometimes eat a bite here and there of gluten I was unexpectedly given an entire dish that was not gluten free. Even after confirming with a call and reaffirming when we arrived that they served gluten free food I was then given REGULAR noodles: also it took 30 minutes to get water and take our order. Then we even waited a whole hour to receive our food and still they messed up our order, totaling a 3 hour meal. And I am now dealing with the consequences of eating a non gluten free meal. My sister had the meat lasagna she liked but the next day she was throwing up at St Peters square and was rushed to the Vatican Hospital so I'll leave that there. I have been there twice. Really really fantastic restaurant in Rome. I occasionally got there and found it amazing which is much better than some restaurants in urban area with a high mark. Incredible dishes surprise me over and over again, I even saw local people come to this restaurant by cars.
