Who doesn't love Haagen Dazs? It's the best ice cream! This one is conveniently located in Lionshead. They have lots of great flavors, and I prefer their waffle cones to those of other local ice cream shops. Plus, the portions are quite generous--even for a single scoop. Service has been great when we have been there recently. Very nice employees. The other day they were closed early, so we had to settle for a less-good frozen treat elsewhere. It's Haagen-Daz, so it's the best ice cream around. It's delicious. The staff is friendly and efficient. But, this summer its hours have been unreliable. And it has this bizarre sigh in the door, saying it *may* close earlier because of a "shortage on employees." First, that's nonsense. Second, "shortage of employees" is very 2021-2022. Other Vail businesses have figured this out. And third, we count on you to be open after an evening hike. So, be open. read more

Workers were rude and made derogatory remarks to our group. Even though they were not suppose to close for 15 min they rushed us through and made the entire process uncomfortable. Nothing can surpass Haagen Dazs quality when it comes to Ice Cream. Yeah, it's the butterfat that makes it a SuperPremium Grade Ice Cream, and taste so superior to anything else in it's class, but we can forgive a little butterfat for this decadent flavor. If the Vanilla is not supremely exceptional, then the rest of their flavors will suffer. Haagen Dazs Vanilla is classic. Rich, smooth, velvety, sweet, creamy, complex. The rest of their flavors follow suit. Dad was right. (Again.) When you start with a quality product, it's hard to go wrong. What I like about the Vail location are their additional offerings. Their Cinnamon Rolls are to die for. They have coffee and hot chocolate drinks. AND: They have employees that seem to WANT to be there. What?! Who wrote the 5-star review? Have you been to any other ice cream shops in Vail? Joe's? Rimini? Probably not, because you'd see that the stingy servings and price make an outrageous combo. Seriously, every time I've had I've cream here, the scoops don't seem to peek out of the cone. So tiny! My two stars come from 1) the Panda cake I saw here (see my photo), and 2) from the two letters on the wall from children who wrote to the owner which are HILARIOUS. By far the worst mistake I have made while on vacation...their Café Latte gave me the most horrendous stomach cramps of my life; not to mention the need to literally blow up any bathroom in a 5 mile radius (sorry Vail). I wanted a blended drink of some sort but they had the door propped open with a massive drink cart and I literally couldn't get the baby stroller I was pushing in the door. I walked by three days in a row; same thing. I'm fairly certain this is a fire code violation as well considering the space to get in and out is only 1/3rd the size of the doorway. Don't get me wrong. Haagen Dazs has some seriously good ice cream. This location, however, isn't as delightful as their decadent dulce de leche ice cream. For a chain, their prices are outrageous, even for Vail standards. It is around $4.75 for a kiddie cup. The prices only go up from there. The prices were only half of the ridiculousness of this location. I was about to order a $7.50 smoothie (the smallest possible size). Immediately after, I asked if it was possible to get an extra cup to share. I was swiftly denied my request, with the excuse that "we take inventory of the cups we give out at the end of each month." This was a painfully awful customer service experience--a rude and obnoxious owner-operator who seemed to revel in confronting his customers. I was there with my 4-year-old niece and they gave her the wrong flavor. We saw him scooping the wrong one and tried to tell him many times which flavor she had asked for. When he gave it to us, he told us we shouldn't have asked for the other flavor if that's not what we wanted: "I don't care how many times you tell me another flavor, what counts is what you first asked for and that's what you're getting". I asked for a manager and was told that they were all managers and owners. His colleague was especially rude and obnoxious about it.
