I am so thrilled with my experience at Hydra Nails. This place is no frill ( I wouldn't call my experience a "spa"), just straight to the point with great price - just how I like it!! I am very specific about my nail care; I do not like my nail beds or cuticles to be trimmed, but I still want them to look clean and neat. It can be hard to find a technician who respects this without making the nails look unfinished. Brian was absolutely phenomenal. He listened carefully to my preferences and was so gentle and precise. I want to share my experience so future clients can make an informed medical decision prior to receiving services from this nail salon. On 12/4 I had a gel manicure and gel pedicure with a referred technician - One week later I developed severe itching between my toes, skin maceration, followed by painful skin fissures ("paper-cut" like tears) between nearly all of my toes, burning, and major sensitivity. My Primary Care Physician has confirmed tinea pedis - caused by dermatophyte fungi (not properly cleaning, sanitizing pedicure tubs, or sterilizing tools). I am now treating what appears to be a fungal skin infection that developed shortly after the service. While I can't say with certainty how or where the infection was acquired, the timing directly followed my pedicure (timeline aligns with the exposure & development of a fungal infection). Untreated or possible progression of this development could lead to Secondary Bacterial Skin Infection, Cellulitis, Lymphangitis, or Sepsis - becoming very serious. I did not notice any visible sanitation concerns during my visit, but given my outcome, I strongly encourage future clients to: * Ask about foot bath disinfection procedures * Ensure tools are properly sterilized * Avoid services if you have any cuts, shaving, or broken skin I hope this review helps others take precautions. I stopped in on a Friday afternoon to get a manicure for a family wedding. This was, in my opinion, a terrible experience and a complete waste of money. Aside from not being very friendly, the technician used clippers on my nails and spent little to no time filing them. I honestly do a better job of filing and buffing my nails at home. The cheap clear polish applied to my nails started bubbling and cracking the next day. I now have nails where half of the polish has cracked off and the other half is impossible to get the polish off. This was my first manicure, and after this experience it will probably be my last. Definitely will not be back to Hydra and would not recommend. read more

Experience was below average in comparison to other nail salons in the Cedar Park area. I told the nail tech NOT to cut my toenails on the sides because that causes ingrown nails and I few minutes later what does he do? He proceeds to cut on the sides... You need to "listen" to your clients and not go on auto pilot when providing the service. Also why would you have your front door propped open for flies and mosquitos to come in?? The AC was working jist fine and you were meerly causing itto be more humid inside. There were other things that were subpar but those were at the top of the list. It was such a hostile environment, and I felt uncomfortable the entire time. I have never had such a negative experience before, and I will definitely not be going back there. They don't pressure you to tip or force you to pay with cash. My most recent visit was a walk in and they were accommodating and gave me a realistic wait time. The salon itself is cute, and I appreciated how quickly I was taken care of. I got both a pedicure and a dip manicure during my visit. Unfortunately, the pedicure felt extremely rushed (it was the fastest I've ever had). The leg massage lasted about five minutes and didn't include my feet. You know that feeling when it's clear the person is inexperienced? That was definitely the case here. Steps were skipped or done half-heartedly. My toenail cuticles weren't cleaned up properly, the shape was more square than I'd preferred, and the polish color didn't match what I selected (I didn't realize this until the manicure began and then noticed the mismatch). The dip manicure also left something to be desired. The technician seemed distracted; he spilled acetone all over my hand, which dried out my skin, and kept dropping tools. While he did follow the general process for dip nails, he rushed through it, and although the final result looked okay, the overall experience wasn't very good (i.e., I've had much better) This salon might be hit or miss depending on who you get. If you choose to go, I'd recommend making an appointment with someone experienced to ensure a better and more consistent experience. read more

I was greeted warmly with no appt, signed up with my phone number at the front without issue or delay and then promptly shown to my spa chair. My favorite part is you don't have to stand there at a wall staring at all the bottles to pick your color! They bring you all the options for gel or regular while you sit there and start your massage! Would you like to sip something while they pamper you? Well, YOU GOT IT! I really wanted to like this place. I came here 3 times. 3 strikes and they're out. The first time I went, I got regular paint that immediately chipped the next day. I went back to get it fixed with gel the next day. No discount but I paid the difference to upgrade to gel. My second time here, I asked them to push the cuticles back. They pushed it back while dry and it hurt like F! The third time, they used a dremel on my cuticles and it frayed. I specifically asked the manager to ask her to soak and push them back and trim. Sadly I think this will be my last visit at Hydra. I used to enjoy the pedicures quite a bit. The polish job (gel) was spot on and the overall "experience" (scrubbing, skin feeling refreshed, massage) was nice enough to justify returning. Unfortunately after this visit I have left the salon after a gel pedicure with crooked streaky gel polish, as well as the skin on my feet still feeling very rough.
