After discussing it, we told him that the pool had worked with that pipe for over 50 years and he was not to cap it, just recreate the current configuration. All seemed well and his finishing work to match the washed aggregate deck was great. We have struggled to keep our pool from turning green ever since! After spending all last summer trying all of the standard water treatment approaches and pump upgrades and maintenance, we now know the drain is not functioning the way it was intended due to a change in the routing because it was apparently less work. This was diagnosed by another pool company who understands older pools. They determined that his solution would probably work for the newer pools, but it was a mistake to change this on a pool that has worked perfectly for over 50 years. I even waited until this summer to post my review since Jake insisted last summer's heat was unprecedented and that was the culprit.
