I've stayed at a few hotels in this area. Hyatt Place Pasadena's decoration is more modern, but furniture inside the room is somewhat outdated. Check-in process is pretty slow. There's only 6 floors at this hotel. I got a room on the 4th floor and it has a small balcony. I was able to open the doors for some fresh air. Not all rooms have it though. My room was clean. The mattress was firm. I liked the shampoo provided. It's from KenethMD Haircare. My stay included breakfast but I had to leave early in the morning so I did not get to try their breakfast. Overall, solid option.

Beautiful and comfortable property. This property is clean, well kept, and provides excellent service. The rooms are nicely decorated, great breakfast area, gym, and walking distance to lots of restaurants and shopping.

Boyfriend booked a 1 king-size bedroom (Room 401, 6 floors total) for 1 night (AMEX rewards - free room!). This was our first time in this Hyatt. Located in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, this place, just like any other Hyatt, is clean and refreshing. I'm no Hyatt expert, but my boyfriend is - he mentioned that this is a mid-size Hyatt. Complimentary breakfast from 7am-10am (eggs, sausages, waffles, yogurt, fruit, coffee and tea, etc). This place also has a swimming pool and gym. There's also numerous chairs and dining tables downstairs - additionally, you can study/read downstairs with outlets. I brought my mom for breakfast and she was amazed (her first time experiencing a Hyatt breakfast). We all then chilled at the room and explored the Art Walk just outside! 5/5!

Was in Pasadena for a conference and a lowkey highlight was staying here. Got here an hour before check-in and they accommodated me. The lobby is nice with plenty seats, tables, desks, and outlets where I was able to get some work done. The bar has a small variety of bar food and solid drinks, with the bartender being very friendly and personable. I got a chcocolate old fashioned, which turned out to be very delectable. The breakfast had to be THE BEST Hyatt breakfast I ever had with it being fresh, hot, and flavorful. Loved the egg bites. The room was super clean and spacious. There is a water station on the first floor so I didn't need to purchase water the whole stay, using my Owala bottle. The gym is also very clean with 4 treadmills, 2 benches, ellipticals and even a peloton. Lastly, this spot is on the same block of an outdoor mall including retail, a Starbucks, and even a movie theater. Don't hesitate to stay here if you're stuck on where to stay!

I had the worst experience with supervisor Mr. Tony. I made a reservation at this creepy hotel; he overcharged the promised price advertised online and also customer service advice me to call Human Resources about his attitude his voice level gets Agressive and treat customers with a bad attitude He is accepting money under the table also his customer service skills are zero point zero being racist and pushing customers away. Their price online is $167 and he is charging $349 plus tax one night They over charge people with $45 people parking fee I was asking the front desk about the rates to make another reservation and he said to wait until 2 days to make another reservation He didn't provide any receipts whatsoever

Checking in was a breeze. The staff at the front desk were very friendly especially Joseph. The entrance is very modern and has plenty of seating for a comfortable workspace. Self Parking is $30 with in and out privileges but will need to validate the parking slip with the front desk. The room itself was very roomy and had enough lighting. I ended up with a wheelchair accessible room so the bathroom had a lot of room. Overall, it's a great place to stay in the Old Pasadena area with plenty of food places that are walking distance.

The front desk staff was polite and friendly. The lobby was generally clean and modern either staff maintaining. Walking in the cool air here on a hot LA day feels so relieving! After a day in the sun this feels relaxing and welcoming.

I happened to visit during a busy time as the receptionists said the hotel had been fully booked, so there was no early check in for anyone. I joined a waitlist to be notified about when a room freed up. No problem, since early check in is not a given. I kept my backpack with me and grabbed lunch in the area. I eventually received a text about my room and came back to check in to a stunning corner room with full length windows sweeping the walls. Certainly not what I was expecting when I booked online, but appreciated! The reasons for the missing star are for subpar hospitality compared to other Hyatt hotels. I had to ask about my membership perks whereas other locations have offered me benefits freely and my status was not acknowledged until I asked. I know it's a minor quibble to feel entitled to a special welcome but I'm also paying for it and I've had my expectations set by other Hyatt hotels. I also wish they'd informed me about hotel amenities without me having to ask as well. Examples were: Where is the pool located? When is breakfast? Where are the elevators? When I came down for breakfast the next morning, the milk and cream pitchers were empty despite there being another hour left to breakfast. The room itself was beautiful and clean, and if that's all you're expecting out of this stay then you'll be beyond satisfied. I will certainly stay here the next time I'm in Pasadena, but some aspects of this Hyatt could be improved.

The moment I stepped into my room, I could smell the fresh lingering scent of linen, and dust was nowhere to be seen. The bathroom floors sparkled, and the marble was smooth and cool on my feet. Couldn't have slept any better than I did in this deluxe patio room. The view outside was magnificent, and my morning coffees tasted one hundred times better than any restaurant I've had. The teahouse restaurant was luxurious, with the most delicious jasmine tea and scrumptious blueberry scones. The chicken sandwich was served on a beautiful plate and tasted delectable. I truly have no single complaints, I couldn't have had a better stay anywhere else. This location blows any other hotel in the Los Angeles area out of the water. 1000/10, cannot go wrong here.

The actual rooms themselves are quiet outdated and filled with some quirks such as a sliding barn door bathroom and sparse lighting in the bedroom itself. There were a couple other issues with the room itself that made the say less than desirable, and certainly not worth the weekend nightly rate. For one, the thermostat/cooling unit in the room was nonfunctional. I lucked out by being in Pasadena in an unseasonably cool stretch, but disappointed that even basic A/C didn't come with my room. Would be a real problem for most of the summer in LA. Secondly, despite being advertised as "Mountainview", you mainly get a view of the neighboring buildings. Definitely not worth paying extra for. What's worse is that directly below the mountainview/east side of the building sits the entire A/C equipment for the hotel, which is incredibly loud. If you leave the glass sliding door to the patio open, the noise is still significant even with 30 db earplugs on. Even with the door closed, the din of the rooftop equipment is loud enough to sound like an A/C unit running in the room. Which was little comedic given the A/C or even just fan alone in the room itself is nonfunctional! Again, a sign of how dated the rooms are that the soundproofing is so terrible. This is clearly a hotel that prioritizes its lobby and conference room facilities over the guestrooms themselves. Finally, for a hotel that looks relatively luxurious, you won't even find a hot tub. For that and all the reasons above, you're better off splurging a bit more for better, or sticking with a Marriott Courtyard or even motel/inn. All of which will have more updated rooms without the quirks.

The front desk staff seriously needs additional training in customer service, problem solving, and basic guest relations. I specifically booked and paid extra for a pool view room, and I also explained during check-in that I am handicapped and would appreciate a room near the parking garage entrance for accessibility purposes. Instead, not only was I placed far from the garage entrance, but my room was downgraded to one facing the street despite paying more for the upgraded view. As a Marriott Gold Elite member, I would expect attentive service and, if anything, consideration for an upgrade based on availability -- not being charged more for a downgraded experience. What made the situation even worse was the attitude I received when I called to address the issue. Rather than showing empathy or offering any apology, I was treated as though I was the inconvenience. After having to walk all the way back down to the front desk, the "solution" was to place me in a room that was essentially the farthest possible location on the opposite side of the parking garage. After more than 15 years of loyalty to this hotel, this experience completely severed that relationship for me. It's disappointing to see the level of hospitality and guest care decline so dramatically.

In Pasadena, your best bang for the buck is always this place. And over the last couple years that decision was made because of one person - Alexa. Here's the thing - I like a particular room on the ground floor because it's easy to load all my work materials in and out. I book through a 3rd party app (sorry, job thing for the points) so I book then call to request that room. In years past Alexa and I had just exchanged the typical check-in pleasantries and that was all. Pleasant, courteous and informative with any of my Q's. But I switched jobs and hadn't been back in the area for about a year. Now I'm back and my territory now includes SoCal again. I booked, and called. Alexa picked up and without me even telling her my name first she informed me that she'd seen the booking and knew that this guest (from a year prior!) preferred a particular room and had already put me in that one. This has happened a few times since and each time, I'm still impressed. I don't expect this nor should anyone. For someone that's on the road as often as I am, I see a lot of faces at hotels and they blur together after awhile so I assume it's similar on their end. But I really just have to say it's so rare to have someone who has a 'few times a year' 30-second exchange with me be so good at her job that I'd never go anywhere else. And when I'm doing business in the area, I rave. Apart from that - very clean rooms. Everything works as it should. Parking is ample and safe. Just wanted to take the time to share my experience to let the owner know that, through the years, she's really done a lot to make me feel welcome and taken care of. They're lucky to have her.

The next morning, prior to check out, I inquired about a 2 bed room and was told that they had one but, I would have to wait until the afternoon. I agreed and they charged my credit card $160.29 for the stay on Saturday, April 25, 2026. I had an important appointment across town that I needed to keep so, I left to get to the appointment and expected to get back to the hotel around the time that the room became available. Unfortunately, I encountered serious vehicle issues and was not able to get back to the hotel. I also did not want to get stuck in the dark trying to get across town to the hotel. I tried to call the hotel later that evening but, it just kept ringing and ringing, until it timed out, and I was never able to reach anyone. Early the next morning (April 26th), I tried calling again but, it still just kept ringing until it timed out. I was finally able to physically go to the hotel and speak with Mary a bit after 2am. She told me that I would have to wait until after 9:30 or 10 am and speak with David, the GM. I called at 11:21 am and told another man there what happened and he told me to speak with David at 3pm. I spoke with David at 3:29pm and told him that I had planned to be there when the room was ready but, I had serious vehicle issues and no way to get to the hotel. I mentioned that I tried to call, no one answered, and that I finally spoke with Mary, who told me that I had to speak with him. He said that Mary starts at 11pm and I should have called sooner. I explained that had I not been stuck across town without transportation and dealing with serious vehicle issues, I would have but, I did try to communicate as soon as I could. I told him that I just wanted to be able to stay for one night to use the one night for which I paid. It is unfortunate because, even though this place was not the best, most well kept hotel, it was conveniently located and most of the staff, up to this point, seemed nice enough. At this point, I have no interest in ever staying here again. I would just like a full refund.

I was hoping this place would work out because it always seems to have a good rate, but big this place has so many red flags. I should have reconsidered my hotel choice. I like the proximity to S Lake Avenue but the experience wasn't worth it. Parking and check in is in front of the hotel. It's kind of dangerous with the traffic on Colorado Blvd. Best bet is to temporarily park and enter on Mentor. We loaded up our bags in the cart and checked in. Then parked the car. The parking garage is around the corner on Mentor. My first red flag is the parking pass didn't work and I grabbed a ticket to get in. Got that cleared but the time when I was given the pass and when I got to the entrance, it didn't activate. It also deactivated post checkout when I was leaving the garage/ When I checked in, I asked for room service for our entire stay and NO one showed up during our entire stay! More on that later. Room is on the small side but they made up for it with the shower. The shower was the best part of our stay. However, it would have been nice to have clean towels. I was disappointed we didn't get house keeping the next day, but I asked for towels and bar soap at the desk and when we got back to our room (they never showed up) or left anything in front of our door. On the second day, we made sure the service light was on and Private light was off. When we got to our room, we came back to a messy room and NO towels. By then, we're upset. When our towels arrived, they were so ratty that I would use these as our thrash towels at home. Imagine toweling off with that because I did. This is where things get really sketchy. Don't leave out a menu for a $9 beer and charge us $12. The bartender says her manager didn't change the menu but there was a price change. Honor the price listed! That is illegal. I don't mind paying the listed price, but the audacity to upcharge $3 and expect a tip. The housekeeping experience made us check out early. There was no point hanging in a messy room. I usually tip housekeeping but there was no need for me to do so on this visit.
