A great location! This is one of the better Hyatt Places that I've stayed at. You can't beat the location- just leave r car in the garage and walk to lots of shops and restaurants. Seems to be almost brand new and really liked the ambiance. But if you are a light sleeper, make sure to bring your white noise machine or earplugs. One side of the hotel is quiet but if you are the other side, you will hear the traffic. It's one of the better breakfasts too, with a lot more variety than other HP's. And they also have a full bar and when we were there I believe it was a Monday night football game and bar was quite crowded. Seems like the newer HP's have much larger bar spaces with full bar and a small selection of food, which is great for business traveler's. read more

It's on the same street. 3 min walk, diagonal to the convention center. - friendly staff - quiet rooms with signs everywhere telling people to be quiet - quiet even when your room is next to the elevator - quick hot water for showers and faucets - easy parking under the hotel - lots of towels were given - fridge is a bit loud and I'm not sure what "level" to set it to for food to be safe. Had to turn off the fridge for my husband to sleep so my food went bad. Cons - expensive for what you get - dark hallways in some parts - kinda gross bathroom, needs better attention to detail - weird plumbing gurgling frog noise in bathroom - bedding had grey feathers coming out of it - room wasn't ready right away. Tip: if they say your room will be ready in 45 min, check back in like 15 min and it'll probably be ready then. read more

Hyatt Place is a hotel that's across from the block with the Pasadena convention center and auditorium. It's about a 5-10 minute walk to city hall. I came for DesignerCon, so the hotel location was very convenient. The check-in experience was smooth. The front desk folks were very helpful and friendly. If you need amenities or help in activating a parking pass, they are there to help. Parking is $35 per overnight vehicle. My king bed room was spacious and clean. It had a balcony with a view of the pool area. They also serve complimentary breakfast. It was quite nice. They had berries, eggs, sausage, potatoes. Front desk staff need additional customer service training. It's a 50/50 chance whether you'll get someone who is helpful and accommodating versus short and borderline rude. They may also need some antibias training... I've been staying here for years, and will sometimes take breaks because of the treatment I receive at times. That, and the fact that rooms can sometimes be very dingy, damaged, and patched up. It's also a 50/50 percent chance of getting a good room. I've stayed at a few hotels in this area. Hyatt Place Pasadena's decoration is more modern, but furniture inside the room is somewhat outdated. Check-in process is pretty slow. There's only 6 floors at this hotel. I got a room on the 4th floor and it has a small balcony. I was able to open the doors for some fresh air. Not all rooms have it though. My room was clean. The mattress was firm. I liked the shampoo provided. It's from KenethMD Haircare. My stay included breakfast but I had to leave early in the morning so I did not get to try their breakfast. Just checked out and we are fans. We had an issue but they assisted us. The rooms were really clean- actually, it was my first time in a hotel room where I felt was not dusty. This alone made it a 5 star experience for me. We usually stay at higher end hotels and our Hyatt Place Pasadena's room was cleaner than some of our higher end hotels we have stayed at! Breakfast was very clean and simple and we really liked it! It seemed like they kept everything clean. We love how easy parking was! Garage under the hotel. One downside was when I made a reservation on the Hyatt app, I requested a quiet room away from elevators. We got the room right in front of the elevator. Stopped for a night in Pasadena and they place was excellent. As a Hyatt person this Hyatt Place is definitely one of the nicest and best I've been to. The building is newish/well maintained and the amenities are very nice. Check in was super easy and the staff here were so welcoming and friendly. Great customer service. Parking is easy in their garage, you register you ticket for in and out and they charge $35 a day for parking which is reasonable for the area. This location has a pool and outdoor hang out area which was clean and nice. FYI: They have towels at the pool which is nice. The gym is 24/7 and it's pretty good as well, updated with modern equipment and ample machines. It's clean and same thing well kept with a bathroom, water, towels. The rooms were my favorite, compared to other Hyatt places this place has the nicest and most up to date room design and amenities. Bathroom was a nice size and modern. The king size bed was clean and comfy. Definitely makes for a nice nights rest. They have breakfast in the morning and check out is a breeze. You can do online or in person check out. Boyfriend booked a 1 king-size bedroom (Room 401, 6 floors total) for 1 night (AMEX rewards - free room!). This was our first time in this Hyatt. Located in the heart of Old Town Pasadena, this place, just like any other Hyatt, is clean and refreshing. I'm no Hyatt expert, but my boyfriend is - he mentioned that this is a mid-size Hyatt. Complimentary breakfast from 7am-10am (eggs, sausages, waffles, yogurt, fruit, coffee and tea, etc). This place also has a swimming pool and gym. There's also numerous chairs and dining tables downstairs - additionally, you can study/read downstairs with outlets. I brought my mom for breakfast and she was amazed (her first time experiencing a Hyatt breakfast). We all then chilled at the room and explored the Art Walk just outside! 5/5! read more

Had a staycay here and it was really relaxing . They let me check in super early, room was clean and patio was perfect. My favorite part was the patio to the room, it led to a rooftop area with view of giant chess and pool. Room has its own sectioned off patio, decently sized. The room itself was spacious and had a very comfy bed. Shower was modern , not an ugly tub lol which is such a plus ! I highly recommend it's one of the cutest in this area. We were in a bit of a pickle. Our airbnb was not what we had hoped and we were looking for alternative accommodations for the following 3 nights. The hotels in Pasadena and glendale did not have high Yelp ratings, but we had to do something, so we made a reservation at the Hyatt Place Pasadena. This worked out well. We were warmly greeted at the front desk by Luis. He went out of his way to find the best rates, tell us about the hotel amenities and make suggestions for local sights and restaurants. Every time we exited or entered the hotel, he greeted us by name. He was exceptional. Our room was large, comfortable, spotless, cleaned daily, and very quiet. The air conditioning and refrigerator worked well. The free breakfast offerings including scrambled eggs, bacon, french toast, waffles, oatmeal, juices, coffee, etc in a pleasant lobby area. The rates were reasonable, and were different each night based on demand/availability. The rates for seniors (better than for AAA or Hyatt members) were $239+$40 taxes Friday, $239+taxes on Saturday and $181+taxes on Sunday. We parked in the city lot across the street, which was less expensive than hotel parking. We checked out online in less than 60 seconds. The bill was accurate, the process was easy. Was in Pasadena for a conference and a lowkey highlight was staying here. Got here an hour before check-in and they accommodated me. The lobby is nice with plenty seats, tables, desks, and outlets where I was able to get some work done. The bar has a small variety of bar food and solid drinks, with the bartender being very friendly and personable. I got a chcocolate old fashioned, which turned out to be very delectable. The breakfast had to be THE BEST Hyatt breakfast I ever had with it being fresh, hot, and flavorful. Loved the egg bites. The room was super clean and spacious. There is a water station on the first floor so I didn't need to purchase water the whole stay, using my Owala bottle. The gym is also very clean with 4 treadmills, 2 benches, ellipticals and even a peloton. Lastly, this spot is on the same block of an outdoor mall including retail, a Starbucks, and even a movie theater. Don't hesitate to stay here if you're stuck on where to stay! read more

It is just a couple of blocks from the convention center right in the heart of downtown and there are lots of dining choices in every direction. On check-in we were helped by Thomas. He is warm, welcoming and super helpful. He found us a superb room and saw to all our needs. It is outstanding people like Thomas that convince me of the value of Hyatt Globalist status. Checking in was a breeze. The staff at the front desk were very friendly especially Joseph. The entrance is very modern and has plenty of seating for a comfortable workspace. Self Parking is $30 with in and out privileges but will need to validate the parking slip with the front desk. The room itself was very roomy and had enough lighting. I happened to visit during a busy time as the receptionists said the hotel had been fully booked, so there was no early check in for anyone. I joined a waitlist to be notified about when a room freed up. No problem, since early check in is not a given. I kept my backpack with me and grabbed lunch in the area. I eventually received a text about my room and came back to check in to a stunning corner room with full length windows sweeping the walls. Certainly not what I was expecting when I booked online, but appreciated! The reasons for the missing star are for subpar hospitality compared to other Hyatt hotels. I had to ask about my membership perks whereas other locations have offered me benefits freely and my status was not acknowledged until I asked. I know it's a minor quibble to feel entitled to a special welcome but I'm also paying for it and I've had my expectations set by other Hyatt hotels. I also wish they'd informed me about hotel amenities without me having to ask as well. Examples were: Where is the pool located? When is breakfast? Where are the elevators? When I came down for breakfast the next morning, the milk and cream pitchers were empty despite there being another hour left to breakfast. The room itself was beautiful and clean, and if that's all you're expecting out of this stay then you'll be beyond satisfied. I will certainly stay here the next time I'm in Pasadena, but some aspects of this Hyatt could be improved. read more

Very modern and updated property that is central to many of the unique features and places of Downtown Pasadena, all in walking distance. I echo that the Entrance Driveway can look like a Delivery Driveway, so, start slowing down when you see the Colorado Parking Structure. There is a 10-Minute Parking for checking in near the front entrance. Front Desk personnel was very helpful and friendly. Hanai explained the amenities of the property available during our stay all with a friendly smile. The rooms are clean and well appointed. Very pleasant and comfortable vibe. I found a picture of what the building looked like in 1917. There's so much history in Downtown Pasadena. And also there's a sign about Quiet Time. Awesome!!! Complimentary Breakfast included. Wonderful quality and selections for a FREE MEAL!!! I appreciate it very much, no complaints, just gratitude. This "sniffs in" at 4.5 stars... The location is directly adjacent or technically in Paseo de Colorado plaza. I find this especially cool since this is where I met my wife for our first date at the Starbuck's and then dinner at a no longer present Thai restaurant that I believe was called "Thai Dishes". I met up with friends a couple of times at Yard House after that but have not been back since. They have a back door that has direct access to a walkway that leads into Paseo de Colorado. Sadly, the plaza is not what it once was with most businesses closed in the evening/night hours unless they are food related. Macy's is long gone etc. It is a modern/contemporary design style. The hotel is very aesthetically pleasing to the eye inside and out. The lobby is very large and pretty with a nice bar and lots of comfortable seating for lounging or meeting up with friends and family. The rooms are similar to another Hyatt Place's with a smaller L-shaped soft, large TV, large bathroom and large room size. Our 4th floor view looked out to the walkway/alley that led into Paseo de Colorado. We got a two-queen bedroom since we have been married a country minute and prefer quality sleep. The mattress is MEDIUM firmness and comfortable. I could do without the very thick pillowtop and so could the wife, but she is a firm mattress fan, and I am a medium hybrid or medium-firm fan. As a result, I slept a bit better than she did. The pillows are borderline trash. They are the type you must roll in a ball in order to have any form of neck support. They completely deflate when you lie your head on them. Best practices consist of using two for your head/neck and one for between the legs (if you fly that way). They have DirectTV so you are not shy of channels. We watched some NFL playoffs. There was a cool piece of wall art of the famous Pasadena bridge. The TP in the bathroom was Angel Soft but truthfully Kirkland regular is much better quality (softer and thicker). Bath products are mounted to the back wall (very astute placement so it does not interfere with your shower movements. Kenneth MD Haircare is the brand. The coffee in-room packets looked off-brand, but they were Rainforest Alliance certified. Our room was very quiet. The location is very good being an easy walk to Old Town Pasadena. The parking garage had good availability and of course there is a noteworthy fee. I do not think we had a microwave, but we had a fridge and all the other usual suspects one would expect. We are premier Hyatt members of some variety (per the wife), so we had the included breakfast. The oatmeal station was money. It featured nice and thick oatmeal (rare at hotels) and had upwards of 14 topping options or more. I added coconut, dried papaya, cashew, sliced almonds, pecan, black chia seeds and a touch of maple syrup. The scrambled eggs, quiche, sausage links, donut holes were all good. The half waffles were hard as a rock, so I vetoed it after one bite. The coffee quality was good. There is plenty of seating from the bar to lobby area. STAFF are polite and helpful. read more

I booked a room through Expedia for one night to attend a funeral. Within an hour of booking, I realized that I booked the incorrect location and immediately called the hotel to cancel and get a refund. I was on hold for over 20 minutes, when someone finally picked up the phone and told me that there was nothing they could do, that I had to contact Expedia. Expedia was very helpful and contacted the hotel multiple times, with the intent to get my $237.28 refund. However, Hyatt Place Pasadena refused to provide a refund. If I could give this hotel ZERO stars, I would. This hotel has zero empathy for their guests. read more

Clean, friendly staff, easily assessable and nice breakfast seating area. My favorite part was being able to go outside and walk to Old Town Pasadena shopping area are some love walking around after breakfast and I did too. We were able to order some food from the bar which was nice because our kid at all it's pretty particular about food. It was also anarrant to buy some drinks and snacks near the bar but it's not a regular size store or anything kind of just like a cooler. But I would recommend the chicken tenders and fries. They were pretty good. I also liked how the standard room with the two queen beds had a lounge area, consisting of a full size sofa & ottoman - that was very useful for eating our dinner, relaxing on cell phones or tablet. Some of the amenities could use a little improvement like the coffee machine and the blankets were not too comfortable. Also the elevator for parking and rooms were confusing for a bit. A lot of guests didn't know how to get around but my hubby helped them. The lines for the elevator who would also get backed up so the elevator area would often get tight. Also our shampoo smelled really odd like grapefruit mixed with fart. Not quite sure why that was but we ended up not using it and just used to conditioner. You do need your key to access the elevators. And you need your code to get out of the parking structure, it's very specific. read more

If you appreciate yourself, you'll steer clear of staying here. Sure, location is great- but you will ALWAYS have a herd of elephants above you, stomping for hours! They claim their 'quiet time' is 10pm-7am. Signs everywhere. But when you call and ask if they can talk to the room above you and get them to quit jumping like House of Pain- they'll do nothing. This is the 3rd time we've stayed here (business related). Even paid for the 1000sq ft suite.... the animals above us- you can tell their parents hated them by raising them to be completely unaware that others exist. Either the walls and ceiling of this establishment are made of paper maché or they rent top floor rooms to hippos and then they sponsor dance parties for them. This place sucks. Oh... and look around, the furniture is dinged and old, wallpaper in the bathroom is bubbling and peeling. Just nasty stuff. Our corporation has decided to never book here again. We like our employees to be well rested and relaxed. That'll never happen here. read more

I enjoyed a 1-night staycation here recently. While the Langham Huntington is probably Pasadena's most luxe hotel, it's in a residential area not really walkable to most area sights and shopping. The Hyatt, however, has a great location. While the Paseo Colorado where it's situated has seen better days (the Hyatt space used to be a Macy's), Old Town Pasadena, City Hall and the Playhouse District are easily walkable. The lobby is a high-ceilinged airy space with many seating areas and a work area with 2 computers. It flows into the small "restaurant" and breakfast area. The "restaurant" has a bar with happy hour and a limited dinner menu, plus a shop/market on the side for snacks and sundries that's self-pay. Parking is below the hotel or in the adjacent mall. There is a decent fitness centre on this level. A small pool and nice outdoor seating area are on the 2nd floor. I like how the design of the hotel varied the window size of different rooms to avoid a monotonous exterior look. As such, some rooms have standard-sized windows, while others are floor-to-ceiling, and some have balconies. The room I had was virtually identical to one I had at the Hyatt Place in Anaheim earlier this year. My guess is that all the furnishings are mass-produced for any Hyatt Place located anywhere. The stylized prints of the Pasadena's historic Colorado St. Bridge did add local flavour. Though generic, the room and bath were spacious and functionally well-designed . As a Hyatt member, I was not offered 2 bottles of water as I was in Anaheim. The complimentary breakfast was also generic and similar to Anaheim's, probably also mass-produced. There were fresh cut strawberries and blueberries, plus whole apples and oranges, however. The hot food was most likely pre-cooked and reheated. The bacon was just bits, not even hot or crisp. The French toast was barely battered. The breakfast seating area at this location was smallish, so guests overflowed into the lobby and "restaurant" to eat. At check-in, I was told take-away containers would be available should you want to eat in your room, but I did not see any. Luckily, I had brought my own. There are numerous restaurants within walking distance, mostly along Colorado Blvd. Overall a pleasant and well-located stay. read more

This is one of the best hotels I have stayed in while visiting LA. It was super clean, very new, offered quick service, and even had complimentary breakfast!! The bed was very comfortable and our room had a really nice sofa bed, too. The TV was huge. Bathroom was very modern and practical to use. Even the towels were really nice! I would highly recommend this hotel hands down. A few downsides ... Entrance to the hotel is on a oneway road so if you weren't oriented in the one perfect direction, you end up having to circle the area to get to the right place. Parking was $25 a night (not bad) but the parking garage was cramped and didn't offer enough spots. Breakfast ended at 9:00am but when a woman showed up at 9:30am and demanded she get eggs, she was accommodated. This was not only uncomfortable to watch but it was unfair for all the other guests who were not offered the same service/treatment. read more

Aside from a room mixup (went up the elevator to check into my room, room key wasn't working so went back down to the front desk finding out that I was informed the incorrect room number; later, someone knocked on my room door thinking it was their room so I'm guessing there was some sort of room switcheroo), pretty solid hotel stay. Clean room. AC unit isn't too loud. Garage parking strictly dedicated to hotel guests is available (though just as an FYI there was only one spot left when I returned back at the hotel on a Saturday at 11 pm). Recommend checking in/out during off-peak times as there is only one small elevator that has access to the parking garage. The hotel entrance is through an alleyway that's a bit hidden from the one-way main street; can easily drive past it, so when your GPS says you're within a minute away from here, start driving more carefully lol. read more

My friends were getting married and this was the hotel where they blocked off rooms for the wedding. I booked third party with my Chase portal and didn't have any issues. My husband and I only stayed for one night so we asked if it was possible to check-in early. Angelo helped us out by putting us in the queue for early check-in. He did inform us that there might be an early check-in fee. I was willing to pay it because I wanted to have some time to do my hair and get ready. We arrived after 11 am and went to the front desk. Our room wasn't ready yet and we were given a parking pass for the night so we planned to grab some lunch. As we were walking away, I received a text that the room was ready! We went back and grabbed the keys and went down to the car to grab our luggage. The room we were given was nice! We had a comfy king bed with a view of the pool area. We were far enough from the elevator to not hear the noise from guests coming and going. We somehow managed to get an accessibility room with a tub and extra space (no couch). I didn't get to use the gym or pool since we had a wedding and left early the next morning. We were happy with the complimentary breakfast in the morning. Parking is $25 per night with in and out privileges. They do not have EV charging here but there was a Tesla supercharger lot nearby which Angelo gave me information on. This felt like a fancy hotel with a huge lobby and rooms with a separate couch seating area. It was clean and quiet even though it seemed to be fully booked. There were no weird off gassing smells or clunky air conditioning noises. We enjoyed the proximity to restaurants and were able to walk to a lot of places. You do have to pay a lot for parking, but that is not beyond the norm. I thought it was a good value for the location and ambiance. But it wasn't without issues. Oddly, the room wasn't available when we showed up on time. It was almost 100 degrees at 3pm, and we had to find something to do after a day of driving. They were supposed to text us when the room was ready, but that didn't happen, so we returned after 4pm to double check. The next day around check-in time, the lobby was filled with families camped out with their suitcases, so this might be an issue to expect. The swimming pool was small and cold even though it was in the 90s--it is fully shaded. For families, it was great because there is no deep end. The hotel (and pool) was filled with young kids. I felt bad for a couple who were obviously trying to have a childfree romantic stay. It's all splash zone. There were towels aplenty, and it was clean. Breakfast buffet was chaotic. Half-and-half was out, and the wait to get it refilled was quite a while. Oatmeal was not available for over an hour, and then it was super gloopy. The placement of milk, spoons, and bowls didn't make sense. There was such a mob of people, it was hard to reverse salmon swim to get milk and toppings once I did get oatmeal. However, my family loved the options, and I overheard others enthusiastically commenting on the breakfast. I would walk to a donut shop or pastry cafe next time. Next time, because even with its faults, I got two good nights of sleep, which is the best thing I can say about any hotel. read more

When I visit Pasadena for work trips, I am staying here. It's located in a prime location near old Pasadena and Call Tech. Parking is $24/night but it's conveniently located in underground with an elevator that takes you straight into the hotel. Like most Hyatt places, there is complimentary breakfast. I like going to Starbucks which is a short walk away. I got upgraded to the sixth floor hotel room work a balcony once so that was nice! There's also a swimming pool that's heated with a cute fireplace and huge chess set. The hotel is pretty modern and has its own restaurant and bar (not that I've gone) but it looks really nice. All the staff are very sweet and attentive. Free water bottles when you check in at the front and very clean! read more

I like the breakfast spread and choices; the hotel is fairly clean and situated at the heart of Pasadena . Granted it's in Pasadena and that is expected, we enjoyed the facility and all that it offered. Close to the shopping area and food choices with a plethora or restaurants to choose from, the kids were happily overwhelmed. I love that there's so much to experience in one area! read more

Stayed for a night and found the hotel mostly very nice. 1. Parking is pricey. 2. Checkin was super fast and easy. 3. The room was spacious, but the air/heating was weird. 4. The bathroom has no fan and no tub. 5. The pool and outdoor space was lovely, but it was so cold and rainy we didn't get a chance to use it. 6. The gym was well furnished and quite busy in the morning. There was also a bathroom there so you didn't need to leave. 7. Breakfast was great; it's a hotel brekkie, so not sure what others were expecting, but there was a solid amount of options to choose from and plenty of seating. 8. Lobby bathrooms were not great; the sensors were not working on the women's toilets and no one flushed. By the time we went in, it was a bit of a mess. 9. Checkout was a breeze - didn't need to stop by the desk and there was a key return slot right by the elevator. read more

They are in the middle of a labor dispute and the folks who work here are not the greatest. Also the fire alarm tends to go off in the middle of the night when it's rained a lot and the staff here are clueless on how to handle it. read more
