It's really not all that. From the room to the parking and the area. Love Pasadena but there are better spots. Also because they have had shows shot at this hotel they don't allow you to do any type of photography without prior approval. Even if it's just for yourself they were even weird about iPhone photos!!! They just try to make as much money off of you here so be careful. After I took a few photos by the pool they kicked me out and said they'd refund me so let's hope they actually do since I was only there for less than 10 min when they started calling the room asking if we were going to be taking photos. Which they never asked or mention on the website. It was a wild experience and I don't recommend. I was planning on staying with my boyfriend for our anniversary but we just ended up staying in the Hilton not too far from here and it was way more luxurious and nice. The pool was also FREEZING definitely not heated.

Friendly guest services staff in the reception area, beautiful landscape and cute pool area, awesome retro vibe and original neon sign, clean and tidy room with fridge, very high walk ability score with restaurants & shoppes nearby - all make for a solid 5 star review! We traveled up for 3 nights from San Diego. Our usual spot for a weekend getaway is Orange County but thought we'd venture up North further and check out Pasadena. We're so glad we did! Definitely going to add Saga Motor Inn on our rotation for weekend getaways!

We got a room with the King sized bed with a special online rate.

Loved this spot! We were traveling from Seattle to Phoenix via I-5 and then 210 and wanted a safe and perhaps unique spot to stay around the LA area. Pasadena fit the bill and the Saga won us over with the "historic Route 66 motel" description and great reviews. It didn't disappoint, the staff was very friendly, rooms are cute and ours even looked over the pool, which is a heated outdoor pool and closes at dusk. We just missed it. I personally enjoyed the Olive Branch provided bathroom soap, lotion, shampoo and conditioner and bathroom cap. However, I was surprised that the room did not have a coffee maker. There is plenty of coffee at the complimentary continental breakfast in their adorable breakfast room, which overlooks the street where the Rose Bowl parade takes place. Travelers with trailers beware: you can't pull your trailer through where you check in at the office. Park on the street with your trailer or tall truck and they'll give you a key to open the back parking lot and you can park in there. Perhaps with a really large trailer you should call ahead to make sure there is room, or you'd have to park on the street.

I pre-paid the room, which saved me a bit of money. The hotel was able to accommodate my need for a small fridge and a microwave (for Bella's food). Everything at the hotel is lovely. Pasadena is a true gem. I loved walking in the Oak Knoll neighborhood and enjoying the wonderful gardens on the Langham property. Talking with many passersby. Taking deep breaths... finally feeling like I could and DID relax. I visited the Tap Room and the Terrace twice because we enjoyed our experience so much. Something that is unique to this hotel -- is the overwhelming friendly disposition of every staff member we encountered. From Nathan (the guy that works on the ponds and pools), to Max (at the Terrace), to Abby & Francis (at the Tap Room)... to the front staff (forgot his name) that helped me (even locating me in the Tap Room when they needed me)... Honestly, I think all of the staff truly likes this place, and THIS shows with how they treat their guests. No ask is too much and even though I didn't need anything crazy... just making it reasonable to travel with a senior dog that gets homemade meatballs, it was really a nice feeling. I would do anything for my pup, but this trip was really for me. I think Bella was sad to leave... and that's always a good sign; if you've stayed too long you're listless and lethargic (even), but we left still smiling and beaming from our experience. I needed it. And, I got exactly what I wanted. Thanks a million, to the Langham! My one suggestion/critique (albeit small) -- is they need to make the amenity fees more clear upon booking the room. I thought all of that was taken care of (and I was surprised by the daily charges).

I genuinely do not understand the hype around the The Langham Huntington, Pasadena. We've now given…read morethis hotel multiple chances over several years and every single experience has been disappointing. The first time was Valentine's Day shortly after I gave birth to our third child. My husband took me to The Terrace for a simple lunch because we live walking distance and thought it would be an easy, relaxing outing. Instead, we got terrible service and shockingly bad food for a supposedly luxury hotel. Completely forgettable experience. Then we tried the Teddy Bear Tea a few years later with our kids. Again, awful. The food and tea were both mediocre at best, and the setup felt chaotic and lazy compared to a proper afternoon tea service. Instead of the elegant presentation you'd expect, everyone was handed messy pre-plated trays dumped onto the table, and getting tea refills felt nearly impossible because staff were nowhere to be found. Last spring we decided to give the property another shot through a ResortPass cabana day. While the pool itself was peaceful, service was practically nonexistent. We spent more time trying to flag someone down for food and drinks than actually relaxing. For the prices they charge, pool service should not feel like a scavenger hunt. Most recently, I booked a one-night staycation to spend some one-on-one time with my oldest daughter. Same exact issues all over again. The pool was packed and there appeared to be ONE server working the entire area. The room itself felt extremely dated, and the bathroom fixtures were rusty and not particularly clean. My daughter actually told me the hotel "felt haunted," which honestly summed up the entire atmosphere perfectly. What's especially frustrating is how heavily they market themselves as family-friendly with all these supposed kid amenities and "special touches." They advertise things like a kids passport/scavenger hunt experience, so my husband specifically noted it in the reservation ahead of time and even called afterward to confirm. Despite all of that, nobody seemed to know what we were talking about and nothing was prepared. It perfectly captures the overall experience at this hotel: lots of luxury branding and promises, but completely disorganized execution once you actually arrive. At this point, it feels like this hotel survives entirely on its reputation and location, not on actual hospitality or quality. Beautiful grounds can only carry a property so far. For the price point, the service, food, upkeep, and overall experience are consistently unacceptable.

The alarm clock also had plug attachments available, although our devices didn't have any use for them. Only complaint relating to the room was the bathroom- the shower door in particular has a gap underneath which allowed water to splash onto the bathroom floor. We didn't use their gym nor pool however we did enjoy their restaurant at The Corner Craft.. The food at this property was surprisingly well made. The bartender with the fancy bottle opener was a far better server than the older server that was observed watching the soccer game on tv more than helping any of the occupied tables. The actual rooms themselves are quiet outdated and filled with some quirks such as a sliding barn door bathroom and sparse lighting in the bedroom itself. There were a couple other issues with the room itself that made the say less than desirable, and certainly not worth the weekend nightly rate. For one, the thermostat/cooling unit in the room was nonfunctional. I lucked out by being in Pasadena in an unseasonably cool stretch, but disappointed that even basic A/C didn't come with my room. Would be a real problem for most of the summer in LA. Secondly, despite being advertised as "Mountainview", you mainly get a view of the neighboring buildings. Definitely not worth paying extra for. What's worse is that directly below the mountainview/east side of the building sits the entire A/C equipment for the hotel, which is incredibly loud. If you leave the glass sliding door to the patio open, the noise is still significant even with 30 db earplugs on. Even with the door closed, the din of the rooftop equipment is loud enough to sound like an A/C unit running in the room. Which was little comedic given the A/C or even just fan alone in the room itself is nonfunctional! Again, a sign of how dated the rooms are that the soundproofing is so terrible. This is clearly a hotel that prioritizes its lobby and conference room facilities over the guestrooms themselves. Finally, for a hotel that looks relatively luxurious, you won't even find a hot tub. For that and all the reasons above, you're better off splurging a bit more for better, or sticking with a Marriott Courtyard or even motel/inn. All of which will have more updated rooms without the quirks.

Everything felt thoughtfully designed and well maintained. There's a bistro, bar, and restaurant right on site, which made things super convenient. I had a breakfast bowl at the bistro and it was really tasty. Parking was reasonable at $18/day with in-and-out privileges, which is hard to find in this area. ROSE BOWL STAY When…read moreI bought my ticket for the last Pac-12 regular season football game ever between Cal and UCLA I wanted to stay at a hotel that was close to the Rose Bowl Stadium. There are three reasons why I chose to stay here: 1) Residence Inn was about a mile away from the Rose Bowl. 2) There's a heated outdoor swimming pool. 3) This hotel serves hot breakfast buffet daily. I found out when checked-in the Residence Inn on Black Friday there was a free shuttle that would be going to the Rose Bowl from the Parsons Complex, which was about a block away. The room during my stay was the Studio Room. There was more than enough space between the bed and kitchen. The shower was fairly large compared to other showers of other hotels I stayed at. Since this hotel is located in Old Pasadena you can visit a lot of eateries by foot. There are a two issues from this hotel that prevented me from giving a higher rating: 1) The swimming isn't really heated as I swam one evening. 2) The hot breakfast buffet is limited as there are eggs and bacon but there is no sausage. Despite the flaws this is a nice hotel to stay in Old Pasadena if you don't have a car. If I'm staying at Old Pasadena for the Rose Bowl I can see myself sleep at Residence Inn again.
