When traveling to Pasadena, this looked like the perfect hotel to stay in, and it certainly was! The room was excellent. The shower was my favorite part, the design of the bathroom and room made it feel so spacious and comfortable. The staff was extremely friendly and helpful throughout our entire stay, and made the check in/out process so smooth. The pool and gym are on the third floor, so the views of Pasadena and the nearby mountains were so pretty! Truly a beautiful place to visit. I picked this hotel based on an Expedia deal. We love staying in Pasadena because it's a perfect midway point with meeting friends and family. I was hoping this place would work out because it always seems to have a good rate, but big this place has so many red flags. I should have reconsidered my hotel choice. I like the proximity to S Lake Avenue but the experience wasn't worth it. Parking and check in is in front of the hotel. It's kind of dangerous with the traffic on Colorado Blvd. Best bet is to temporarily park and enter on Mentor. We loaded up our bags in the cart and checked in. Then parked the car. The parking garage is around the corner on Mentor. My first red flag is the parking pass didn't work and I grabbed a ticket to get in. Got that cleared but the time when I was given the pass and when I got to the entrance, it didn't activate. It also deactivated post checkout when I was leaving the garage/ When I checked in, I asked for room service for our entire stay and NO one showed up during our entire stay! More on that later. Room is on the small side but they made up for it with the shower. The shower was the best part of our stay. However, it would have been nice to have clean towels. I was disappointed we didn't get house keeping the next day, but I asked for towels and bar soap at the desk and when we got back to our room (they never showed up) or left anything in front of our door. On the second day, we made sure the service light was on and Private light was off. When we got to our room, we came back to a messy room and NO towels. By then, we're upset. When our towels arrived, they were so ratty that I would use these as our thrash towels at home. Imagine toweling off with that because I did. This is where things get really sketchy. Don't leave out a menu for a $9 beer and charge us $12. The bartender says her manager didn't change the menu but there was a price change. Honor the price listed! That is illegal. I don't mind paying the listed price, but the audacity to upcharge $3 and expect a tip. The housekeeping experience made us check out early. There was no point hanging in a messy room. I usually tip housekeeping but there was no need for me to do so on this visit. read more

In town for a wedding. We know the bride being dear friends with her parents. The hotel is classic if a bit dated. The lobby is very comfortable and eclectic, and there is a lobby bar where you can get coffee and small bites throughout the day. A complimentary coffee stand would be a good idea. Check in was easy and the staff were solicitous and efficient. Our room #229 is a corner king suite and very spacious. We have a patio as well which we used every day. Probably a bit too large for our four nights but we like the extra room. The room lighting was insufficient. The double sink in the bathroom was nice but one of the sinks did not drain. We reported this and it was taken care of promptly. The shower water pressure was quite low. There is a beautiful tub which we will use. Our king bed was extremely comfortable and we both slept fairly well. The room is very quiet. The roof top pool was very nice and not crowded. We spent a few hours there. Pasadena Hotel and Pool is a beautiful historic property where clear attention has been given to the design of both the lobby and the rooms, creating a unique and comfortable experience. The hotel was very clean, and the front desk staff was excellent--Daniel, in particular, was extremely helpful when we checked in late at night. I also want to acknowledge the young woman working during the day (I forgot her name), who was equally helpful. One unusual and disappointing aspect of our stay was the lack of an on-site manager. There was no manager present during the entire weekend, so if any issues came up, they could not be resolved immediately. We were told we would need to wait until a manager was available, but no one could say exactly when that would be. The bar and lounge area is large and inviting, with plenty of space and even games to play. The bar stays open until 10:30 p.m., which is a nice touch. However, lunch is not served at the hotel, which I think is a disservice to guests and a missed opportunity for the hotel. The highlight--and true saving grace--of the hotel is the pool. The pool area is relaxing and well-maintained. Poolside service was excellent, and the young women serving drinks and food were amazing and very attentive. One concern I hope management addresses is the elevator. It is very slow and, during my stay, I actually got stuck in it for about five minutes. I informed the front desk, and they said they would contact engineering, but I did not see any maintenance happening the entire weekend. Another inconvenience is the lack of valet or bellhop services. You'll need to park in the underground garage, then go to the lobby to get a luggage cart and bring your bags in yourself. If you're traveling with a lot of luggage or need assistance, this could be a hassle. The rooms themselves were extremely clean with a modern and stylish design. Each room includes a refrigerator, but no microwave. There are shared microwaves on some floors, but not all, and ice machines are also only available on different floors. I stayed at the Pasadena Hotel and Pool for 2 days for a work meeting nearby. The hotel was decent. A little dark, but got the job done. If you are sensitive to noise, this may not be the place for you. I grew up near a train, so I was fine. However, I think if you're sensitive to noise in the evening, this may not be the place. The staff were responsive and helpful. I didn't explore the pool or eat at the hotel (there's so much good food in the area though). Looking for a quick getaway and a change of pace I found this gem nestled in the San Gabriel mountains, near old town Pasadena and so many shops and eateries! It's a walkers dream. There's so many things that you can do by foot and there's a lot of amazing hiking. This is a beautiful hotel with old school charm fantastic service delicious food even better drinks and great customer service all of the things that I appreciate and love when I stay somewhere! Do not underestimate the beauty of this place. The outside is understated... I mean, don't get me wrong that beautiful crown moldings and it's a historic hotel. On the far East edge of Pasadena is the Pasadena Hotel that we discovered while on our quest for the best breakfast burritos. BBAD (Breakfast Burritos All Day) is located inside the hotel and they provide a free 2-hour parking validation. It's the perfect staycation with rooftop pool to lounge around, and even the gym room that we may or may not have been motivated to fit in a workout session. Best feature for us foodies, we had the option to not only order from the hotel menu but also order from BBAD. Got to stay here for a night and loved it! I was looking for a place to stay for the night in Pasadena and found this hotel through booking.com and booked with them. For $176 out the door on that website I secured a Premier Corner King Room and it far exceeded all my excpectations! I checked in on a Saturday morning in December of 2024 and to my suprise at 11:40am, they had a room ready and lets us check in. Check in isn't until 3 pm so we were really stoaked about this. We got room 605 and it was a huge room for us me and my wife but we loved it. Giant soaking tub with seperate shower. Decor was super cute and fun. The king bed was so comfy!! For $176, it was a steal in my opinion. The hotel has a heated pool, fooseball table, cheese table, and a fantastic lively bar that opens in the afternoons. Loved how the lobby was decorated for Christmas, it was a whole vibe. The hotel itself is truly gorgeous, don't sleep on this place if your looking for a hotel in the Pasadena area. I had to come through the Pasadena Hotel and Pool, in order to get breakfast from bbad. After parking and entering this wonderfully appointed hotel (at least 6 floors and over 100 rooms). I was very impressed at the elegant lay out of the lobby, with small and different sitting areas. Uncluttered decor, uncrowded spaces. A relaxing vibe. There is a nice open courtyard. Since I was enchanted by this unique environment (posh, yet boutique), I approached the lady at one of the reception stands to ask some questions about prices, accommodations and the like. Her attitude was unsettling. There was zero enthusiasm. In short, what I received was an unfriendly, why are you talking to me, canned response: "It is all on line". We were attending an event at the Rose Bowl and flying into Burbank, so we decided to stay here because it's super close to both. After checking-in we went for a walk and realized there's tons of restaurants and food options within 1 block of the hotel. There's also a nearby Target and traveling with a kids it helped so much. So this hotel is ideal. Now for the hotel itself. Overall, cool hotel and under lots of renovation so I expect some nice upgrades soon. The pool is nice not deep 4.1/2ft at the deepest point. But seating is limited so get out there early. Small poolside bar is also convenient. The lobby has cool coffee shop called BBAD and really good "breakfast burritos all day (BBAD)". The rooms are small and unique that the bathroom is right next to the bed with fogged glass. So whoever you're staying with, get comfortable because you'll see and hear just about everything hahaha. Pasadena, pool and hotel has the ability to actually get a five star rating. The good things about it are great location great value beautiful building in a wonderful pool. Downfall here it seems to be a management decision to provide less than a minimal staff coverage for the hotel. Most of the staff are tying their best but have no back up and there seems to be minimal training for some The check-in process was downright bizarre with the person checking us in and having no customer service skills could not tell us what the room rate, did not welcome us, tell where to find our room or asked if we needed help with our baggage. In any case, there is no one to help you with luggage in the lobby no bellmen or concierge. There was one person it was in charge of the entire restaurant and bar on a Saturday night. We were checking out at 8:30 on Saturday night having gotten off a cross-country flight. The one person was on a "lunch break and the kitchen closed at 9 o'clock. We're very nearly shut out of having a dinner. The checkout process was equally as bizarre. It was early morning but There was no hotel staff to check us out only a security guard who could not tell us anything about charged or print out a receipt. We learned later There was one desk clerk on duty, but they were also on their break. This is not the fault of the staff, but the management clearly wants to cut every corner and provide minimal or no services. This also shows in other ways -- there are two elevators for the entire hotel and , one is broken and the working one was making some creaking noises during our stay. Staff seemed to have no idea when it might be repaired. I also noticed there was a similar post about the elevator eight months ago. If the owners decide they want to put the resources into this hotel properly it could be all around great. read more

Amazing customer service. Easton Fires started Jan 7th and were mandatory evacuated out of Sierra Madre at around 8pm. We weren't prepared and finally got out around 10pm with essentials and our 2 small dogs. We first headed out in Monrovia but Monrovia was totally blacked out. Hotels were available but we weren't going to stay in a total blacked out room. We then headed west and was going all along Colorado. We went to probably 14 or15 motels and all were fully booked or didn't allow dogs. We were losing hope but found Pasadena Hotel & Pool. It was around 1am Wednesday now and we tried our luck. Thank God they were able to accommodate. They hooked us up with a Premier Room. Due to the evacuation circumstances, they were able to hook it up for two nights at a discount for 189.00 instead of the 299.00 rate. It was an additional $75 each for our dogs The room was spacious. The King bed was more than enough for me and hubby. And both of us are big boys 265 lbs each. Bed was comfortable. The thing my hubby loved the most was the heated toilet seat and is a self cleaning toilet as well (uv cleaning). The front desk staff was great. We were able to extend twice and will be leaving Saturday morning as evacuation has been lifted in our specific area of Sierra Madre Again the customer service was top notched. On Friday nite the hotel offered a free set meal for all guests due to the fire evacuations. Short rib and rice and a scone for dinner with a free drink too. We got bottled water . Lived in LA all my life and never knew this gem existed. The pool area looked amazing but unfortunately was closed for refurbishment. We stayed here for Cruel World concert and here is what I'd say: for $450 a night it was NOT worth it. Maybe if it was like $200 per night, I'd feel like it was worth it. Cons: 1) they never made up the room in spite of them asking us and us confirming. 2) the shutters do NOT keep the light out 3) the rooms are TINY. 4) it's in a sketchy part of town, while on the main drag, it's a bit of a walk(at least 12-14 blocks to the downtown area) 5) and the walk from self-park to the lobby is a hike! Pros: it has character. It has a nice pool, gym is fair (2 treadmills, 1 elliptical, 1 recumbent bike, weights). The bar and lobby are good. The staff was super polite and nice. read more

I liked the room, bed was comfortable, shower had great water pressure. Spa tub was too small and jets not that powerful. I got this room specifically for the tub so was a bit disappointed but it's ok because the bed was very comfortable and shower pressure great and roomy. The bidet randomly makes noises though where'd you walk by lol One of our favorite parts was definitely the pool. It's simple yet beautiful. It's only 4.5 feet at the deepest end so great for kids or just walking/ sitting in the pool having drinks. One thing I think they could update is maybe the carpets in the hallways and rooms. On the Route 66, the best part is not knowing how Gorgeous it is decorated, to accommodate groups of individuals with hotel rooms that are modern yet cozy. I personally would love it if I didn't have to pay for parking, $29 for guests of the hotel. I really wanted to like this place but ultimately there are better in the area. It's a beautiful property but it seems that very few of the people working there know anything about the hotel or hospitality biz. The whole place is understaffed. Rooms are small (as several people have mentioned) They have fridges but no water (even to buy) no coffee maker, and a couple of mornings there wasn't coffee in the lobby area. However, I don't agree with the reviewer who felt the neighborhood was sketchy or his comment abt how far things are to walk to. He clearly didn't explore the area very well because a block away is Lake Ave. Walking down Lake Ave (south) there's a ton of good restaurants, places to shop, a yogurt place, Trader Joes etc etc. BOTTOM LINE: the hotel feels like a real missed opportunity. Such a hidden gem. I decided to stay here because of a wedding even though I'm fairly close. I came in early and used the hotel lobby and courtyard with the free Wi-Fi to do a remote work day. The lobby and courtyard are beautiful. There's a new restaurant in the front called bbad. It stands for breakfast burritos all day. The breakfast burritos are amazing, and it is a proper third wave coffee shop too. They made a great latte for me today. I'm bringing all my friends back for the food. And it turns out the hotel bar actually has great beers and wines. It's a wedding so I had an early wine, and finished my burrito, so sue me. Hehe The courtyard is dog friendly too. read more

Pasadena Hotel and Pool was built in 1926 and considered a historical hotel. The hotel is centrally located in a shopping and dinning district which made it extremely convenient. First impression was that it was quite swanky with its modern design and exclusive club feel. The bar area was smaller, but it didn't matter as there was plenty of tables and seating surrounding the bar. We appreciated that there were game boards on the tables as well as a foosball table. All of the staff at the bar were amazing! They were attentive and sweet. They made you feel welcomed and appreciated. The things we loved about this hotel were the beds and the blankets. The blankets were actually warm, the beds and pillows were soft, yet supportive. Now for the downside. There is no room or cleaning service. The hallway on our floor was narrow but, luckily we seldom ran into people. Our room was smaller than expected. There wasn't even a dresser. The drawers we did find were shallow and can hold maybe one article of clothing or a few tiny trinkets. The bathroom shower was beautifully decorated, but a good amount of water leaks out during a shower. Lastly and the biggest issue of all were the thin walls! We heard several conversations, laughter, doors slamming, footsteps and one very pleasured woman. Try explaining that away to your daughter who wanted to know what was happening to this woman and why she was making such noises. On our first night, we ordered food at the bar. We ordered their cheese plate, cheeseburger with a side of fries and Cajun fish tacos. We liked everything on the cheese plate, but how difficult it is to put together a cheese plate? The hamburger was perfectly cooked and well seasoned. The highlight of this dish though were the fries. They were thick cut with a soft inside and crunchy outside. The fries were flavorful. The fish in the tacos were also perfectly cooked and the seasoning didn't overpower the fish. The tortillas tasted fresh and had a really nice flavor. Everything else on this dish was subpar. The lime avocado crema just tasted of lime; hold the avocado and crema. The siracha drizzled over the tacos just tasted out of place. It would have been better if they made a siracha crema instead of the avocado. Overall, I don't think we would opt to stay at this hotel again. We paid roughly $410 for two nights. Based on the price, amenities and compared to other hotels, Pasadena Hotel and Pool just falls short. read more

Bought a day pass that lists food and drink as one of the amenities you are purchasing. It also says free cancellations until midnight the day before. We were planning on going for our anniversary. But way down in smaller print, it says food and drink is only available from 4:30-10:00 PM. Really? We're going to sit in the sun without any drinks or snacks? So, decided to cancel it, except then I found out that the hotel requires cancelation by 10 AM the day before, so can't cancel. I tried calling the hotel. After waiting line for 5 minutes, calling back, getting hungup on, I finally got someone at the hotel who told me they couldn't help me and I should have known. Okay, maybe I should have. Shout-out to Justin (in janitorial? But he seems to do a bit of everything), Courtney the night auditor, and Juan at the front desk. Sorry I don't know the names of everyone else at the bar, at the front desk, the chefs making the tasty food, etc. -The rooms look & feel nice, and just as importantly, I find it easy to DO things in my room. I don't know what makes it hard to get work done in some hotels and not in others, but our hotel room has been quite easy for getting work done. -If you are sensitive to WiFi, I think it's a bit less to deal with (while still being a fast connection) & more pleasant here than in most hotels I've tried. -Some of the strongest shower water pressure I have ever experienced. -Pleasant clean simple gym by the pool. Deep sigh. This is a tough call to review The Pasadena Hotel & Pool. It is a split down the middle experience for me. My traveling companion loved it completely. More on why later. I felt that there was a little bit of resting on laurels that pushes it up a few notches above where it belongs on the star scale. Why? It's the little things sometimes that take the hotel experience to achieving comfort for guests. Like heating....yes. heating in January is a must. The heat seemed to work when you pushed the over complicated yet simple controls and yet the room never felt comfortable. Stone cold or hot...but always stinky smelling when the air conditioner was turned on. I doubt the filters were. changed much or maybe the vents needed cleaning? Absolutely not too nice. And the windows because it is an old building, were VERY drafty and offered up all of the noise the street had to offer. Sirens. Yes. People shouting. Yes. The lobby was pristine, and nicely decorated and inviting which was nice. The bar felt like it was missing a beat. Sometimes hotel bars give off a vibe that make even the locals come by for stellar spirit offerings. The hotel bar gave no such vibe. We never were inspired to step in. Too many competing nice offerings a block away to even be tempted where it was not tempting. Even airport lounges have a better 'feel". I can't quite put my finger on it. Maybe the sort of bus station uniforms? The room itself was ok. The end table furniture in our room laminate was peeling up and away from multiple pieces. The really cute bright yellow table had a sticker half peeled off that should have been removed from some guest who must have left their luggage tag sticker behind. The pool was not too much to brag about but people were using it even though it was freezing cold. Not the draw the photos suggest. Parking expensive too. No valet. The room itself relies on the burst of color, the shape of the lounge furniture to draw your attention away from the dirty carpet (we ran out to the nearby Target to buy flip-flops). The overly complicated control panels for bedroom and spa lighting. No mini bar. The spa tub might be great for some, but the drain was in the center of the tub making it uncomfortable from an... er...well...anatomical perspective. Not to mention if you are sharing a room with a friend...perhaps it may be a bit much to bathe out in the middle of the room with all of your assets flopping about. And cold because the heating blew cold air... Shower was ok. The Staff: The young women who worked here during my stay clearly needed training. indifferent to EVERYONE they came in contact with. Sometimes rude to patrons (boomer vs Gen XYZ).... yeah I get it the lady was slow....but she is paying your rent...and you got nothing else to do...so be nice to her ok? Other staff: Cleaning staff super SUPER friendly. I'd suggest to management to switch positions, we'd be better off for it. The one really giant caveat that grabs a star was the position of the hotel for the Rose bowl Parade. The location was superb for this purpose and they made sure you paid through the nose for the privilege. The street was busy the day before with families gathering to stay overnight so they could get prime space to view the floats and bands. The hotel made sure there were flat screen tvs in the lobby so you could watch the game if you were so inclined. The hotel seemed to imply there was area for viewing the parade right outside their door, but it was not roped off for patrons...it was first come first serve and you would be needing to stay outside on the street overnight. Would I stay again....possibly because there were eating and drinking opportunities outside of the scope of the facility that make it worth the visit if you have business....if they knocked down 100 bucks off the nightly rate. They have a prime location and rely on that a tiny bit too hard. read more

We loved our stay here. I'm a big sucker for beautiful art deco buildings and this hotel is just so pretty inside and out. Our room was clean and beds were comfortable. Front desk staff was very helpful when our long term parking pass didn't work. There's an amazing breakfast burrito spot as well as many other great restaurants just outside of the lobby or within walking distance. The pool is clean and beautiful. Would love to stay here again. read more
